  1. Most of the kids think I have created every website they use so I MUST be able to fix it when there is an issue!
  2. Yeah, can rarely get on it. We got this email yesterday- There's been a significant improvement in server capacity but if you have suffered a slowing down of the service during peak periods, I apologise. We're very much aware of the problems and continue to make alterations several times a day. Yesterday two new servers were commissioned and it's going to take the next few days to copy all the data over to them so that they can start picking up the load from next week. Barring teething problems, this could yield significant gains in speed and up-time.
  3. It doesn't sound like that is related to my original post. Mine was fixed by a reboot of Configurator. When the iPad is connected to WiFi and the system apps disappear, what's the problem? It sounds like you want the system apps to be inaccessible.
  4. I like the Junior Librarian one...just a shame it doesn't work half the time. Although they keep saying that once this migration to the cloud is finished then everything will be lovely!
  5. I briefly looked at this too but the interface is so bland. I know looks aren't everything but this is 2017.
  6. A simple reboot of Configurator has done the trick I think!
  7. Hi Bev, Thanks for your suggestion but that's a separate issue to my original post. All of the apps have been purchased through the VPP Store which is why I thought it was odd that I was getting the 'iTunes sign in' prompt. The cause is the filtering system we have. But like I say in my previous post, I'm not sure why it wasn't happening on iOS 10 but is on 11.
  8. We seem to be getting duplicate apps appearing in Configurator 2, but looking on the iPad itself, there is just the one copy. Please see photos attached. One instance of the app has the VPP badge in the corner. Usually, both instances show the same version number, although the Aurasma app has different versions. All of the apps were downloaded from the VPP store when we made the switch from AC1 to AC2. The iPad was wiped before installing the apps. A slightly different issue is that some apps that I remove are still showing. For example, in one of the photos attached it shows the 'NumberBonds' app and another instance of it above 'numberbonds'. This app was removed from the iPad using Configurator. Another example is 'Memory Block' which I removed but is still showing as 'simon'. Very strange. Hopefully someone has a solution. Thanks.
  9. Just wanted to update this thread I started by sharing what was causing the 'Sign in to iTunes Store' prompt we were getting with some apps on iOS11. Our iPads are shared between students so we have a filtering system in place which requires them to login on Safari and the session times out every hour (average length of lesson). It's not a perfect system but I think it's the best we can do. The prompt was appearing on some of the apps because it wasn't signed into the filtering system (or had expired since the last user session) and therefore could not connect properly to the internet. Of course, it wouldn't give us a helpful message such as 'This iPad cannot connect to the internet', so it was purely by chance that I stumbled upon the solution. After signing into the filtering on Safari, I can load the apps without getting the iTunes prompt. And even after the session has expired, I can still load the apps without the prompt appearing, so I'm assuming it is just a one-time thing. I don't know why this issue doesn't exist on iOS 10 though.
  10. We're way down in Cornwall. The trolleys are the LapCabby 16v model and we've had them since 2011 but they're still in decent condition. They weigh 116kg each.
  11. Morning, We have a set of 32 Toshiba laptops that are getting quite old and haven't been used since we got Chromebooks. I've found a recycling company that can take them off our hands for a decent price but they're not able to take the two LapCabby trolleys as they're too heavy and expensive for their courier. Does anyone have any recommendations for getting rid of them? Thanks, James.
  12. Device Management ----> Chrome ----> Device Settings ----> Sign-in Keyboard
  13. We had this discussion a few years ago and decided that a Facebook 'secret group' was a better solution as more parents used it compared to Twitter. Works great as a news feed and we just tell parents that they can 'like' our posts but not add comments.
  14. Automatic saving was a big winner with staff and students. Having files accessible in Drive from home is also useful. Real-time collaboration on files and knowing you have the latest version of the file rather than having to re-save and email documents constantly. The Chromebooks we have were much cheaper to buy than laptops and so much quicker to startup than our old Windows ones. We started off using GSuite about 4 years ago and initially just used Gmail (for staff). From there we started to use the rest of the suite with staff (Docs, Slides, Sheets, Forms) and shortly after introduced the pupils to it. The Chromebooks a couple of years ago was the next logical step.
  15. I would also like to know if there is a way.
  16. Also, forgot to say- when the iPad is plugged into Configurator and I look at the list of apps installed, some of them have a duplicate entry. So it appears that two of the same app (and same version) are installed on the iPad, but if I look on the actual iPad, I can see just one copy. I'm assuming this shouldn't be happening?!
  17. Our admin console gives a phone number but says you need a PIN and the Email button just goes through to a form rather than giving an address.
  18. Thanks for the suggestion. We did previously have an iTunes account assigned to it because we needed to with the old version of Configurator. I have completely reset one of the iPads and found we still get the error. I have some more info from my most recent testing which may help though- The iPad I mentioned that was running 11.0.1 and was not getting the 'sign in...' prompt had older versions of some of apps compared to the iPad with the issue. For example, Pic Collage. So Pic Collage was loading fine with no prompt but as soon as I connected it to Configurator and updated the app, I get the prompt. However, the same version of the app running on iOS 10 does not show the prompt. So the issue seems to be a combination of the app version and iOS 11 and quite possibly Configurator too. Which one is most to blame, I don't know. To clarify, as I don't think I put it in the original post. The full message we get in the prompt is- 'Sign in to iTunes Store. Sign in to accept this app and assign it to your Apple ID.' And then it has blank boxes to input the ID and password with 'Cancel' and 'OK' buttons.
  19. Just a little update on the original issue I started the thread about- I still have an iPad with 11.0.1 installed and it's still asking me to sign in to the iTunes store when loading a lot of the apps. However, I've just noticed another iPad running 11.0.1 and it doesn't have this issue. It has been set up in exactly the same way as the other iPad, supervised with Configurator, all apps downloaded from VPP. Now the fun part is working out why one works and the other doesn't???!!
  20. That would be great if it were true!
  21. If you're using Configurator 2 to supervise the devices then you can't use the local apps because they've been downloaded from iTunes using a different Apple ID. You need to only use apps from the VPP store.
  22. Not quite the same issue as me. It's happening on most of our apps and all of them have been downloaded through the VPP store which is meant to be the correct way.
  23. I feel your pain. Half of ours are iPads 2's so won't go beyond 9.3.5 and it basically means just running old versions of the apps for as long as possible. The other half are iPad Airs and I'm trying to prevent those from updating to iOS 11 because it causes a lot of our apps to prompt for an Apple ID. Which I've started another thread about but not found a fix for yet.
  24. AC2 works by downloading ALL apps from VPP (paid and free) rather than taking a local copy from iTunes like AC1 used to do. The advantage is that it will always download the latest version of the app. The downside is it takes a long time to download all the updates each time, especially if your WiFi is rubbish. Also, you don't always want to use the latest app version because it may be broken or incompatible with the older devices.
  25. That's a different issue to my original post. Our apps are already installed but most of them get the 'Sign in to iTunes Store' prompt when opening each app. It's affecting both Apple and 3rd party apps but not all of them!
