Only 'fix' at the moment seems to be to completely reset the Chromebook.

Neverware CloudReady suddenly very long login times
j224 replied to davie887's topic in Cloud Services
Ours are all on 92.4.3 and I've not noticed any login delays. -
It's in Google Admin > Devices > Chrome > Settings > Device Settings > 'User Data'. But Google says this about it: Note: By default, Chrome OS devices encrypt all user data and automatically clean up disk space when shared by multiple users. This default behavior works best for most deployments and ensures data security and an optimal user experience. We recommend you enable Erase all local user data rarely and selectively. So, with that turned off, the hard drives should not be getting completely full, but they are.

Problems with Chromebooks signing in - Suggestions please
j224 replied to robjduk's topic in Cloud Services
We have had issues like this in the past, but not recently. It was definitely filtering related but I wouldn't be able to tell you exactly what the fix is because it's managed by a 3rd party. -
I was told by Google that that setting wasn't recommended to keep turned on.
-
Yeah, it does, but you will probably find that it gets filled up again quite quickly.

Neverware CloudReady suddenly very long login times
j224 replied to davie887's topic in Cloud Services
We only have 45 CloudReady devices but not noticed any difference to the login time. -
Another thread related to this problem, started a few days ago- http://www.edugeek.net/forums/cloud-services/224141-size-user-profiles-google-enterprise.html

We don't use NetSupport. I don't think screenshots are the cause of the issue.
-
We're also seeing this issue and I've been in contact with Google but they've just asked me to send logs. The trouble is, when the disk is full, it can't produce the log file! We're only pushing out a couple of apps, so it's not that causing the problem. I reckon it's a bug with the way it handles profiles. We've had the Chromebooks for 6 years and only recently had this. After doing a full wipe of a Chromebook, it doesn't take long to fill up again.

Annotate Google Slides with Smartboard - is it possible?

Try this- https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/annotate-web-annotations/gdojjgflncpbcfmenbkndfhoamlhajmf -
I got told the same thing in the support chat. Their most recent message to me says: "I can see that on of your colleagues from another school has filed a separate ticket for this same issue. An internal investigation thread was already filed with device logs collected from Guest mode after reproducing the issue. Engineering has currently requested some additional information from a device placed in Developer mode, so they can confirm what is exactly taking that much space. I'm currently clarifying the steps that they want us to perform and I'll let you know once we have the exact ones." We can't be the only two schools in the world getting this issue?!

Toshiba Chromebook 2 (original), Samsung Chromebook 4, HP 14 G6.

Yes, I'm feeling the same way. I've been given instructions to wipe the device then collect logs on days 1, 2 and 5 and take photos/screenshots of the disk management page to show what is using up the space. The engineer claims that the user profiles were hardly using up any space, but when I looked before wiping the device, they were using 20GB! The system was using the rest and it was 100% full so couldn't save any logs. Like you, we've been using them for many years without a problem!
-
Same here. We've not had the erase policy turned on and never had a problem until very recently. One Chromebook says the user data is taking up 20GB disk space, but using the 'Clear User Profiles' option doesn't seem to do anything. It's still showing 99% disk space full.
-
We've not found a solution. We're 99% Chrome OS. There's a couple of admin PCs and I use a Win 10 laptop. To be honest, the only thing we use Publisher for is printing various stickers with mail merge. The kids used to do photo collages/posters with it, but that's easily been replaced by GSlides.

[ipad] Apple VPP/School Manager/MDM confusion
j224 replied to JordanT91's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
Some success contacting them, but they've not fixed the issue yet. When we had issues with verification, someone called Yann emailed me from the address [email protected] They've been quite good at replying but it's currently with the engineering team to find out why I can't invite my legacy VPP account. The whole process has been ridiculously long. Considering we've been forced to switch from VPP, it should have all been automatically transferred across. You see the personal devices mixed in with the school ones? I see the personal ones when I go to Devices > Mobile & endpoints and school ones when I go to Devices > Chrome > Devices
-
You do have some control by default, using the 'Basic mobile security'- https://support.google.com/a/answer/1734200?hl=en Any personal device that has signed into a school Google account should be listed in there.
-
I read this somewhere else, but unstable would suggest it should work at least some of the time??

OK, I guess it's just me not understanding it properly. If it's recommended by Google to have a separate User and Device OU then that must be correct. For us- when I get a new device, I'll enrol it and then move it into either the Staff OU or Student OU, depending on who is going to be using it. So if I'm looking for a serial, I can click the Staff OU or Student OU on the left and look down the list. If it's a teacher device, I also add their name in the 'Custom Field' of the device, so I could do a search for their name. When I go to 'User & Browser Settings' I can apply a particular setting (e.g. custom wallpaper) to the top level OU, the child OUs (Staff or Student), or be even more specific and set a a different wallpaper for each year group- we have Cohort 2020, 2019, etc as child OUs of the Student OU. When I go to 'Device Settings' I can do the same thing. When I go to 'Apps & Extensions' I can do the same thing.
-
Track down a serial? But you can go to Chrome > Devices and search for a specific serial? I think you're approaching Google admin from a Windows GPO point of view. I think we had this conversation in another thread recently.
-
I don't understand why people have device OUs.

I'm having issues with bluetooth on a Chromebook. We've got a data logger and I know the bluetooth is working because it connects to my Pixel phone. But the managed Chromebook (brand new HP 15 G6) finds no devices. I've tried tethering to my phone too just incase the school WiFi is somehow blocking it. I've tried another Chromebook (a brand new Samsung) and that can't find the logger either. I can't find anything in the GSuite admin to suggest Bluetooth wouldn't work. Any ideas?

[ipad] Apple VPP/School Manager/MDM confusion
j224 replied to JordanT91's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
Yes, it was 2013 that the Facilitator account was created. We do have some paid apps in VPP, so I'll have to go to the hassle of asking Apple to move it.
