Its been pretty awful. The YouTube for schools forum has a lot of comments. We have it working but we signed up in 2012. The biggest pain is the link changes for non edu filtered to edu filtered.

Windows Linx Tablet - Viable alternative to netbook?
free780 replied to penfold's topic in General Chat
Has anybody got one running with the sccm client? Just wondering if it hits performance. Shame some of the drivers are unsigned. -
We have ones that the date changes to random times. I think I've fixed it. I've not seen the issue with windows 8 mode.

Office 2013 KMS Activation Using Windows 7 as KMS Host
free780 replied to JATSO's topic in Office Software
I believe you need vamt 3 to support windows 8 and office 2013. Having to install SQL express is annoying. Bye bye memory. -
"application blocked by java security" does anyone know how to fix?
free780 replied to useraaron321's topic in Windows 7
Make sure you include the domain where the applet is hosted to the whitelist. -
You need the install files. Re install then uninstall.

I've found deep freeze causes more issues than it solves. You can get sccm (with enough work) yo reimage a room with all software. You always seem to get one piece of software that's needs a manual install.
-
Just be aware sccm is meant for a range of organisations. As with a lot of ms software. You need to do things Microsoft's way to avoid issues.

Google Moving to SSL Searches
free780 replied to Boredguy's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
It depends on your environment. If you want to monitor google searches you need to be using SSL interception. This will in most cases incur cost. The web is moving to SSL more and more. In a environment like FE and HE you can not have interception on guest devices but be aware of the implications. Can't stop exe download where they are hosted on SSL Connections. -

In lollipop other email accounts can be added to gmail app. Though you may have to wait a while for Samsung to update your tablet. -

So you cant opt to have mitm ssl off for byod devices? Unless your wifi solution provides some sort of app to install the cert its probably not worth having it enabled for byod. -
Smoothwall + Android HTTPS
free780 replied to Darylrese's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Unless you don't intercept https. KitKat and lollipop actually constantly warn you about a mitm ssl cert. -
With MDT you can set it up to prompt for credentials. Thou can easily disable this in the summer by editing bootstrap.INI. You can also disable the f8 command prompt. http://www.windowsnetworking.com/kbase/WindowsTips/Windows7/AdminTips/Migration/DisableF8duringLTIinstall.html
