1. Yes both being used, and on same tenant
2. Hi We have a user who is leaving and would like to migrate her email from her Academy account e.g. AUser@***academy.co.uk to her trust account e.g. AUser@***trust.co.uk (we are a MAT). I created her trust account sometime ago but I just need instructions on the best way to do this. All options tend to lead to using 3rd Party applications, which for one user does not seem worth it.
3. No room booking system as such, we have classcharts which I looked into earlier to set a trolley up as a room, but did not seem appropriate. Could this be done through SIMS? I looked into Roombooksystem.co.uk but they don't want to pay for it. Looking at getting Spiceworks setup, would this have the facility to do it?
4. Really how? Issue with a spreadsheet on a shared drive is that only one person can access it at a time (unless its uploaded to O365 in a shared location). Thinking about assigning that horrible task to the reprographics employee. I need to get something up and running fairly quickly, not having the greatest amount of time to code a spreadsheet.
5. Hi This might work well for our SEN Dept as they want to book laptops out to individual students, and then book them back in at the end of the day. Could a complete trolley be scanned out? for those staff wanting a whole trolley of laptops? techie1982
6. Hi All We have several laptop trolleys within the Academy and I need to put measures in place (booking system) to record/track them. Currently the laptops seem to free roam between classrooms/trolleys, hence why some trolleys have 10 laptops and other have none. I have read its possible to use the Library Management system to do this (Eclipse.net) by adding the trolleys/laptops as a Hardware Resource .net Online User Guide Has anybody managed to do this successfully, if so how? Can you scan the Trolleys in as a resource and scan the laptops within them? techie1982
7. Hmmm interesting not sure how this might impact on other lessons where they genuinely need to save mp3 files, music for example.
8. Hi All We have YouTube filtered for Years 7-11, Sixth form have access to it. What some Year 11's have discovered they are able to do is search for a video in Google (e.g. Ed Sheeran). Google will then return a YouTube video URL (e.g. ). They then use one of the many YouTube video download websites (e.g. https://www.converto.io/) to then copy the URL and download the video/mp3 to there user areas. Has anyone managed to stop this, if so how?
9. Hi One of the teachers has reported the Promethean touch panel which was installed/purchased through Misco (no longer trading) is giving her a static shock when she uses it (via the pen/hand). It was installed last August and I have contacted Promethean and they have advised an anti-static wrist band or mat be used. I need to get the device PAT tested. Has anyone else had this issue (either Promethean or other brand/make). I would like to get the device replaced under Health and Safety as its not really usable. We don't have any other touch panels just 'normal' Promethean IWBs (with the speakers on the side). Any advice welcome techie1982
10. Hi Thanks for your reply, I don't know much about these devices although I have a SONOS Play 3 at home and it works quite well, different type of device. Just looking at the following link on Googles Home Help page and it states https://support.google.com/googlehome/answer/7029485?co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid&hl=en Note: A WPA2-Enterprise network is not supported. I could create another SSID but we have issues here with students abusing the privilege, so having another less secure SSID at the moment probably isn't going to help my situation. He could pair it up via Bluetooth as just realized it has that functionality or take it back/sell it on e-bay.
11. Hi All One of our Vice Principals has purchased a Google Home Mini talking speaker and has attempted to set it up on our Academy Wifi and is getting the error in the image below: Has anyone managed to get a Google Home Mini device working on a school wifi network. We currently have Meraki wireless if that helps. Thanks techie1982
12. Hi All Over the summer we had some building work completed in our science departments that involved the flooring being replaced. The VGA outbound and inbound cables appear to have been damaged as the colours being displayed through the projector are incorrect (red not displaying properly at all). The building company are wondering whether a wireless option would resolve the issue and not result in the flooring being dug up to replace the VGA cables. I have heard of "Lightbox" device but don't know where to source one. Is there a wireless option available? Regards techie1982
13. Hi Don't know if this has been posted before, I work on Server 2012 domains and was wondering if there was a tool available to delete users from AD, their user area and profile in one go? Have a lot of old users to delete and its proving time consuming deleting them manually (AD account first, then user area, then profile). Or if no tool maybe a means of automating the process a bit via a script/powershell cmd. Thanks Techie1982
14. Hi I have 4 laptops on a Vanilla Windows 7 network that won't boot into Windows. I have tried SafeMode as well and won't even let me in that way. Is there a tool/live cd I can run to find the computer name, so that I can rebuild it with the same name as before? Regards techie1982
15. I have a school that recently bought a site license for this and have advised they use a standalone laptop for time being until I can workout how/if this will package up. It seems to install stuff everywhere and creates profiles for every user that uses it. Not got very for with it so could also do with some advice.
