  1. Currently snowing (lightly) in Preston. It's the end times I tell you!
  2. We are supposed to get some sleet tonight, but thankfully, the forecast high winds have, so far, failed to arrive.
  3. A new vacuum cleaner. I feel I'm not quite in the spirit of things!
  4. Just finished Foundation and wow. Just wow! The final episode is a masterclass on how to wind up a series and (without giving too much away) has possibly the most evil, callous and calculated monologue ever put on screen. It should win awards just for that scene alone! Can't wait for the second season.
  5. A good deal on the Adobe Photoshop and Premier Elements bundle @£79.99 here - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Adobe-Photoshop-Elements-Premiere-Activation/dp/B09G3MW2GK?ref_=Oct_DLandingS_D_f6d845ac_125&smid=AR9ZQCUDB1BRG&th=1
  6. The unnerving thing about BF and CM is that, do you wait unil Friday to grab the best deal then see it cheaper on Monday, or dive in for what is a resonable deal to miss a great one later?
  7. Yeesh! I'll also keep an eye out for unicorns, there may be more chance there, although there may be a few last gen APU's up for grabs later on possibly. What do you currently have?
  8. That looks a pretty epic device!
  9. And a good deal on the Samsung Galaxy M12 @ £127- https://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Smartphone-Android-Exclusive-Version/dp/B08Z5JFJGY?ref_=Oct_DLandingS_D_4e676c54_60&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE
  10. Not the most energy efficiant though (it may run on coal) - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Toshiba-43UL2163DBC-43-Inch-Ultra-Smart/dp/B09GS21ZPD?ref_=Oct_DLandingS_D_081e5ffc_63&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&th=1
  11. Wow! Ring have a hell of a deal on their alarm kits! - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ring-Alarm-Generation-Indoor-Amazon/dp/B092B4WBNS?ref=dlx_black_gd_dcl_img_10_a770161d_dt_sl6_82 and is really the cheapest they have ever been!
  12. Amazon have some good offers on their mesh kit (not helping you, but could be as good pointer as to what might appear) - https://www.amazon.co.uk/deal/e1f6528b?showVariations=true&ref=dlx_black_gd_dcl_img_2_e1f6528b_dt_sl6_82
  13. Like this? - https://www.amazon.co.uk/43-fire-tv-edition-smart-4k-ultra-hd-hdr-led-tv/dp/B08PC3F7G9?ref_=Oct_DLandingS_D_003c3e55_61&smid=AQE5OJD64B9LM&th=1
  14. With many sites and stores already announcing their Black Friday offers it's time once more to start the obligatory Black Friday/Cyber Monday thread. If you see any good offers please feel free to post them here, and I have to admit, there are already a few knocking about. Please do not post links you have found on other sites, but link directly to the item on it's orginal page. Also don't forget to call out anything that looks a bit iffy i.e. using CamelCamelCamel (get the plugin if you are not already using it!) you see that a good offer was an even better offer in June! So, I'll start you off with this one - https://www.amazon.co.uk/HP-OMEN-27i-Gaming-Monitor/dp/B088MF7HVB?ref_=Oct_DLandingS_D_3ea15cdd_75&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE which also seems to be reduced to the same amunt across several retailers.
  15. When sending pictures they want others to use in Outlook, they should attach them instead of inserting them as Outlook will resize and compress images inserted unless you have this setting applied - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/turn-off-picture-compression-81a6b603-0266-4451-b08e-fc1bf58da658
  16. Can I ask if you have WiFi and what type it is as I've had a problem with my home Ruckus AX wifi access point which caused similar problems to yours. A recent firmware update has fixed this. It would prevent all wired connections from connecting to the internet as well. Absoloutely no idea why it created such problems.
  17. A quick look around for UK school retention policies brings up this (again, 12 months for accounts meeting certain criteria, on page 7) - Link Hope it helps. ETA - It's a PDF download.
  18. I do have to ask, how big was this Comic Con compared to 'normal' years, any idea?
  19. This article suggest a 12 month period for the UK - https://www.n-able.com/blog/your-guide-to-email-archiving-under-uk-law
  20. @Zoom7000 Told us that he'd been to an event there recently and they were checking for covid passports on the door. With BETT being the second largest show at ExCEL (behind Comic Con) this will make getting in a very interesting affair if this policy is still in place.
  21. The DLR is something I hadn't considered (thank you) and if you've ever been there in the morning first thing when the exhibitors make up the vast bulk of the passengers then you'll know just how mad it gets. With fewer services at that time it will get horrendous!
  22. The 'plan' is for BETT to stay open until 8pm each day to make up for the hours missed on Saturday. As you can imagine, this has gone down like a lead baloon with exhibitors. The organisers have an idea about shipping in night time visitors by bus (this was when first suggested before covid arrived). As you can imagine, for many exhibitors these hours are prohibative. How are you supposed to feed your staff properly, or do your after-hours networking which is what takes up a large portion of the exhibitors after show activity. For smaller vendors many will, from what I can gather, be simply putting up a sign on their stands at 6pm saying 'Gone for a meeting. We shall be back tomorrow'. Even if more visitors arrive after 6pm, they will most likely be there to see the bigger companies and not them.
  23. Please also remember that BETT in January is only three days now (Wed-Fri).
