  1. Here in Preston it is predicted to be in the mid-30's on Tuesday, which will probably translate to close to 40 degrees outdoors. I've worked in those temps (and higher) before and it wasn't nice. But then again, I was in the middle east and Carribean. It will be windows open, blinds down and fan on in the living room for me on Monday/Tuesday I think. *I know 'they' say to keep it cooler you should close the windows, but I find that doesn't work once silly heat levels arrive.
  2. Had a hummingbird hawk moth in the garden the other night on my buddleia. Not seen one in years, and up here (Lancashire), and are often a sign of a long hot summer otherwise they'd have to wear small wellies and a coat, which stops them from flying.
  3. Looking for an android head unit for my new car and came across this pic on eBay in one description:
  4. How about this, a Razor Blade 17 with an 11th gen i7 and RTX 3060? It only has 16GB RAM but for a paltry £1495 (down from £2278.99). It doesn't say what storage is in there, but you can probably bring it all up to your spec for about £200. - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Razer-Blade-17-Display-RZ09-0406CWC3-R3W1/dp/B0999KF2LG/ref=sr_1_4?crid=37T5HIK42NSXY&keywords=17%22+laptop&psr=PDAY&qid=1657634873&s=prime-day&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&sprefix=17+laptop%2Cprime-day%2C95&sr=1-4
  5. All I can find is some 2060's and 3080's. None of which seem to be at a 'good' price - https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=graphics+cards&i=prime-day&bbn=10157705031&page=2&crid=37GD3HGW9I3R&qid=1657634705&sprefix=grapgics+cards%2Cprime-day%2C144&ref=sr_pg_2
  6. Or a Samsung Galaxy M52 for £249, down from £339? - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Android-Smartphone-Storage-Exclusive/dp/B09B15M2HH/ref=sr_1_17?crid=2H85ASW15P9F5&keywords=mobile+phone&psr=PDAY&qid=1657634465&s=prime-day&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&sprefix=mobile+phone%2Cprime-day%2C255&sr=1-17
  7. Redmi Note 11 Pro for £209, down from £299? - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-Pro-Smartphone/dp/B09TH9QTQM/ref=sr_1_17?crid=2H85ASW15P9F5&keywords=mobile+phone&psr=PDAY&qid=1657631055&s=prime-day&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&sprefix=mobile+phone%2Cprime-day%2C255&sr=1-17 Good specs too.
  8. What's your budget?
  9. A Seagate Xbox 4TB USB drive. Down from £124.99 to £66.99 - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Seagate-Game-Drive-External-Portable/dp/B08Y1QRTBM?ref_=Oct_DLandingS_D_659c7534_60&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE
  10. I never watched Lost but loved every minute of Fringe. What they did in Fringe though was to give you answers, then more questions, which IMO is the way to do it. And they gave all the answers by the end of the run! it's like that Apple TV series Invasion. Lots of questions, zero answers and dialogue that has the story participants asking zero questions about the chaos all around them. The writers clearly have zero experience of the real world or how people interact in critical situations.
  11. I know, it's sad news but yes, it's still worth watching just to see the wasted potential. My big gripe was that, like several shows this past year, the characters don't ask the right questions, or simply don't ask them at all, and they are the questions the audience want either asking, or some answers too. They just left far too much hanging for the next season. The writers never seem to get that it's fine to have mystery, but you do need to ask questions and sometimes demand answers. I've no idea where this writing trend came from, but they do need to reel it in a bit.
  12. For those not aware (and with an Amazon Prime account), the Prime Day sale begins tomorrow. As per usual, if you see anything you like, or could recommend for others then please let us all know here and please, where possible, provide a link in this thread. You can also let members know what you are after so they can keep an eye out too, so please feel free to post up any items you may be needing. I'm after a new tv. They should, for last years models, be going for about £300 for one with Dolby Vision and circa 50" screen. My current one is a first gen 4k smart tv and it's age is showing after 6 years. It will be retired to a bedroom wall I think!
  13. There really is a website for everything!
  14. Case closed (no pun intended)! I can buy a new caseback with the correct adhesive applied for £2 from AliExpress! https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003853874890.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.0.0.21ef1802Hntfn0 Certainly a lot less faff.
  15. Elbow - One Day Like This Beatles - Here Comes The Sun
  16. I did a screen replacement on my sons Poco X3 last night and compared to many I have done in the past was a doddle as you didn't have to remove everything! The only problem I have is that the front case uses a thick adhesive rather than the double sided gummy tape I've used in the past (and on this). But it's not doing as good a job as I'd like. If you look at this pic below you will see what I mean: Can anyone recommend a glue/adhesive I can use instead? It has to provide a solid seal but still be removable should need be. Any suggestions greatfully received.
  17. Just finished Stranger Things S4 and was very impressed. I may have to watch the last one again as it was quite late by the time it finshed and I don't think I got everything! Also finished Night Sky, which I enjoyed a lot. A very slow burn that answers very little but leaves the questions hanging to bring you back (but in a good way), and top performances throughout. Besides, anything with JK Simmonds in is almost always epic!
  18. I got a bunch of these and sent them out a few Christmas's back - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/154023282350?hash=item23dc80c6ae:g:e0sAAOSwiXZfIfti&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAA8MtBmHRJ9Zhlq8OaVEDnGCqA0acffSVNkHSWmy6pxsU5wGedJp6Lih7WJAp9K%2BkLqp0fib%2Fl75EXvd04C5nttYPDJoh4XvPCIl6e8lxrD11tilMe%2BvfhVT4AwDQJsWRmakOFP6Fva39gyuwyHHXZ4FQRiqyhQBJu0MQkSgVc7NsI0DqyiehFm1PscucBl1oOaFDn8KSUUkQuLmC7FPcB7C8SUXbXukzRbI6hCr7PU%2B9K8Qo%2BOgENhEhpoejxniQbTl280a9oBrZb4uyifW87Wca6aJbUhxug13jpQeXxFtJ9d6v%2BeoXPzKIOJm44J9JKsg%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABFBM_NGFnLVg What could say 'You'll be missed' than making someone a multi-millionaire! And all for less than a fiver.
  19. Genuine question here for those who have moved away to cloud services, how many on-site servers did you reduce by, and how many do you run now for things you simply have to have in-house? Does this also affect the type/spec of servers you now keep on site as well?
  20. It may be worth hanging back a bit too, as the Amazon Prime sale begins on July 12th.
  21. Found a newly emerged White Ermine moth whilst gardening yesterday evening:
  22. Love the dusk at midnight on midsummer:

  24. I'm thinking of starting us off on The Man From Earth (if you have Amazon Prime that is). An amazing low budget film with an ensamble cast who you will at least recognise, if not be able to name - https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_man_from_earth It was shot in only 8 days (with a week rehersals) and it does show in places, however, the underlying story is gripping. What would you say to someone who claims to be 14,000 years old? At 89 mins runtime I think this would be a great way to start off, but I should warn you, it's a very marmite movie. Personally, I love it! Oh, and the trailer isn't very good
  25. Thanks all, keep em' coming
