It's in the cinemas now for a limited time and discussed briefly in the 'The last movie I saw was...' thread. Go and see it, you won't be disappointed (unless this isn't your bag that is!):

Saw this last night, and was blown away. It's so very hard to describe, but 'bonkers' seems to be the best word. You can also use the following hashtags - #kungfu, #dimensions, #bagel, #rocks, #bp* Oh! It's also on limited release, so go and see it whilst you can! *You will have to see the film to figure out what that one is!

I'm a bit late with my contribution here due to a cold. I'd met Lynne on several occasions over the years and she very kindly came to speak at the conf a number of years back. She was a very lovely, dedicated lady who will be sadly missed

I'll be doing that as soon as I fit it anyway which will cover the 5600, but will do it again when I change the CPU over in case it broke the 5600!

I'm upgrading my sons PC next week for his birthday pressie as part of a longer term upgrade package as I'll be getting him a Ryzen 5600 (from a 2600) for Xmas, but want to begin with the motherboard to get him on PCIe 4.0. All I want to know is are there any things I should look out for? All I'm planning to do is delete all of the old drivers, replace the board and reinstall the new drivers. Is there anything else I could be missing, given the mobo upgrades can go wrong and that I know that some of you have done this, so thought I'd best check first!

A rare sighting of the glass coffee mug in the wild! For those wondering why I am in awe, this is because we ordered these for a BETT show back when it was at Olympia with several boxes of regular coffee mugs. When they arrived (left in a couriers holding area at Olympia) all we could hear was the chinking sounds of shattered gass and porceline. Very few made it out to members. -
Cost of living crisis 2022 - what have you cut back on?

One idea @ZeroHour and I discussed last week was, for those with streaming services, is to rotate them every few months. So instead of having, for example, Netflix, Apple TV+ and another, all on the go at the same time. Just pay for one, then once you've watched all the 'must see's' on a particular service, cancel it and move to the next. That way you can cut costs, but still get to see everything, and everything will be (almost) new when you re-subscribe. -
No spoilers! I'm only half way through it.

I'm four episodes in and still don't know if I like it or not, but I seem to be going back. A bit of a dark mystery thriller with some Twin Peaks vibes thrown in for good measure!

They will probably become collectors items in 20 years time. Sadly, with the introduction of smart phones the MP3 player market crashed. There are still devices out there and they are popular with gym bunnies, but these are often smaller slimmer models. Mind you, if that means you don't have to use iTunes anymore there is a silver lining to every cloud

Anyone else who went to BETT this year manage to get one of the Viewsonic forget-me-not planters? Mine seem to be coming up nicely, and as I don't have any on the garden will make a welcome addition.

An Enigma machine? (Sorry, will get coat now)

Took my son to see Sonic 2 the other week. Like the first one, it was good fun, only marred by our row being full of sugered up 8 year olds. I promised my son the next time we go to the cinema we'll take in an evening showing. TBH, it had already been out a couple of weeks and was on it's last week in the smaller screen at the local Vue and I thought it would have been a lot quieter.

My ex (split on amicable terms) has a woodburner and I now live next to a large park. There have been quite a few time after a big storm that I've told her of downed trees and ones that have been cut up by the council awaiting shredding and helped her fill her car boot with nice pieces. Agree about not touching live trees and woodland. They do need to be protected, but remember that trees don't live forever and then it's fair game once they have toppled. -
Just finished Severance on Apple TV+, and I can't wait for the second season as it leaves you on one hell of a cliffhanger. It's worth just getting an Apple TV+ subscription for a month to binge this. It's orginal, has a great cast and mystery upon mystery. Perfect!

Cost of living crisis 2022 - what have you cut back on?

That's what we thought too, but it was the heating of the water. From 30 to 40 degrees, it was way more energy intensive than spinning and lasted about twice the length (of energy usage) too. 30 Degrees from now on! ETA: Ah, beaten to it! -

I'm hanging back to see what my next utility bill will be like. I already don't drive very much these days (train and bus where possible) and have pretty much done what I can in the house (to date) to cut back on unecessary electric wasteage, however, @ZeroHour has been going all out on electricity monitoring and has shown me some quite surprising stats where you can very well save a few pennies down the road. Air fryers and electric blankets being a couple as opposed to oven cooking and turning on the central heating at night for example. His washing machine monitoring was quite a revelation too! We both got it wrong when we guessed what the most energy intensive part of a wash is. -
Just an update on the raffle for those of you that visted us on the stand last week and took part. Both @ZeroHour and I had been struck down with covid on our return (#bettvid) and have been forced into our Fortress of Solitude for the past week. We are fine and on the mend so hopefully we shall be able to hold this next week. Our apologies for this, but the poorlies need dealing with first. I'll also be posting up my views of this show too, in light of much discussion amongst the community about the relevance of BETT given its two year absence (spoiler, all is good, but some things to take into account).

It's sooo very busy today, we've not had much time to ourselves. Nice to see as we were quite apprehensive about turnout this year, but it seems the sun has brought people out in their droves

I want the 'orginal' version of Candle in the Wind please
