There certainly is a large amount of legacy baggage in there still with Windows 10. I suppose a big clear out is in order, but sometimes I think they underestimate how important certain Windows features are. Look at the outcry when Notepad (which I use daily to remove text formatting) was removed as a base install program.

It'll be 2 weeks after launch that some third party releases a 'Windows 10' pack for Windows 11 to bring back much of it. Possibly. Saying that, I'm not one for customisations and desperately look for the beige wallpaper option each time a new version of Windows is released. I suppose this is what happens when you've come up from Windows 3.1, you don't look for the shiny.

[for sale] Bulk load of vintage video games

The Retro Gamer Magazine forums may also be a good place to ask for values if unsure and they also have a forum to sell things in - https://forum.retrogamer.net -
My local Asda is fully automated too. It's a lot less faff!

I'd be wary of professional auctions as I often look at a local house that streams their auctions and boxes of games do not go for very much (I see reserves of £20 - £40 for almost all) and they often don't sell for the upper limit. My advice would be to price them up, sell the expensive ones (Facebook Marketplace is a good place to do this without incurring fees) and keep the ones that could be future classics and put them in the attic. This lot went for a mere £30! - https://www.warrenandwignall.co.uk/catalogue/lots/1B4B4A3FAEB609659D8853F60E243C1FA8608F3E9995C609AB9D975DA8F3F835/2A29640469B1A3702BD4742F312B842A/collectors-sale-including-toys-musical-scientific-in-lot-40/?d&searchTerm=computer%20games -
It's planned for the upgrade as well as some other forums being merged/renamed. As @Ironside said, it's to do with SEO and we'd get hammered by the gods of Google if we were to do it offhand, but as the site upgrade will cause a lot of SEO annoyance we've left it until now. We also learnt a very valuble lesson about naming a forum with specific technologies. It will be renamed to something like 'Handheld/Portable Computing and Phones'.

That does look like it may be a lot of fun and as @Norphy said, as long as it's better than the last two I'll be happy.

Must be all that Xmas cheer -
Welcome back everyone! We hope you all had a good summer break and had time to get at least some time off. As today is the first day back for many schools (Scotland went back the other week AFAIK) I'm just wondering how swamped you all are, or not as the case may be for the fortunate few? Do you have a queue outside your office for password changes, or has all your hard work over the summer become undone within 10 mins of the network getting hammered, let us all know here.

It's quite a new model too. Thought they were shifting old stock for a min. That is a very good price for a Samsung tablet I think.

This is a good deal if you need somewhere to put your Steam folder. A 1TB NVME SSD for £69.99 - https://www.amazon.co.uk/WD-Blue-SN550-High-Performance-Pcie/dp/B07YFFX5MD?ref_=Oct_DLandingS_D_d59434cd_65&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE Whilst not exactly fast anymore, is still a good deal for 1TB of NVME storage.

Thsi was one sale I'd dismissed as just another 'tat-fest' but have found some very good deals in there this time (when I finally began to dig into it) - Amazon Sale I have grabbed myself a pair of these - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07TLX61W7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 - as I'd been after a new set of cans for a while now but wasn't willing to pay out when so much price gouging was goign on. Lots of other tech deals in there too, has anyone else managed to grab themselves a bargain?

Went to see it last night and can highly recommend it. It's a great popcorn movie with lots of laughs and geeky references. Imagine a cross between The Trueman Show and Ready Player One.

Installing now. Thank the gaming gods for old, small installs!

I think I may just wait for that one to be released. On the other hand, I may need to upgrade my PC first!

Saw him live about 10 years back. He was very funny. A sad loss.

You've never played Half Life? Heretic!

You're right about the console titles, given the sheer volume of classics in there I often blank when trying to think of ones I'd really want to play. I've never played any Zelda games, and have missed out on many Mario titles too.

During a chat with the mods yesterday afternoon I mentioned that I had never played Monkey Island but it was on my gaming bucket list. Until this point I hadn't really realised I had a list of games in my head I still hadn't played yet, but always meant too and I thought it might be fun if we shared each others unlayed games. So in no particular order, here are the top 5 on my list: 1. Monkey Island 2. Any Witcher game 3. Among Us 4. Grim Fandango 5. Star Wars KOTOR The sad thing is, I actually own most of these. I blame Steam sales!
