EU proposes mandatory USB-C on all devices, including iPhones
Dos_Box replied to elsiegee40's topic in IT News
Hmm, region locked iPhones could be a possibility then. -
Is this any help? - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security/identity-protection/hello-for-business/ Apologies for the single link as there are many topics covering that under it!

Yep, looks like WhatsApp is down pretty much globally - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-63383957 Which is a pain as I spent 10 mins thinking it was my local install at fault and rebooted twice!

[pics] Quote Marks are "not" for emphasis!
Dos_Box replied to 6Foot2's topic in Jokes/Interweb Things
I was kind of thinking the same thing. I've seen many with printed banners showing their OFSTED status, and that seems to to be the best way of doing things as it can be easily removed and not leave weathering marks if you suddenly have to take it down! -
Sadly, I had to give up biking years before smartphones became a thing. Not looked into it yet, but if it's anything like my Android Auto setup, you'll be able to use a suitable helmet freindly bluetooth headset to control a phone remotely.

I think we should convince them they have been in some kind of Brigadoon situation. We'll have a new govt and everything by the time they get comms back fully

FYI, @ZeroHour managed to grab a satellite connection late yesterday afternoon (not Starlink) and tells us he thinks they will get some kind of (partial) connection back on Saturday, fingers crossed.

Spend some money on decent gloves. Summer and winter. You'll thank me about the winter ones, trust me!

It seems that both major comms cables to Shetland have been severed - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-north-east-orkney-shetland-63326102.amp Our very own @ZeroHour resides there and I've sent him a text to see how it's going as it seems to be the only way any message 'may' get through. On the other hand, this may be a valuble lesson in just how much a total outage for a protracted period will affect modern life without the aid of a natural disaster.

It seems they have really started the ball rolling. Got this email this morning: I think that speaks for itself and I'll disable that particular option for now.

I wonder if they have taken into account that people view account sharing as a value-add? I'm in a similar boat as you as my kids and parents share a couple of my subscriptions, but if it's just me that can use them then I think I may kick them into the long grass and just subscribe for a month or so if they have any decent new stuff.

Whilst not much of an announcement so far, but a hint of what is to come - https://www.cnbc.com/2022/10/18/netflix-nflx-earnings-q3-2022.html I share mine with my retired parents and will probably cancel if they go OTT with this policy.

My laptop has just installed it. Pretty quickly too, which makes a change!

Is it one of those weird CD servers where it would burn the CD to an internal hard drive?

That's the chap. I've played with one at the PlayExpo a few times. You can see why it failed in the face of the competition put it that way!

Not a scanner, and not USB ports. I actually had to look the USB part up, but they do look like them!
