There is a butty shop in Bamber Bridge that does an epic year-round Xmas barm. It weighs as much as a turkey!

I am not standing behind you in that particular Lidl queue, although I can't wait to see you try and get it over the barcode scanner

The One Plus Nord 2T is £110 off @£259.99 - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07XXNKV1V/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Ordered one for my mum who needs a new phone and that is a pretty good deal for a pretty good phone.

That's my go-to lunch sandwich if available!

It had become a kind of tradition here on EduGeek to, each year, comment on the various supermarket (and others) Christmas theamed sarnies. Sadly this has not really been a theme over the covid period for obvious reasons, but here we go again! I'll start you off with the rather disappointing Morrisons Christmas Lunch sandwich I've just finished (bacon insead of sausage, really?). I'm not sure whether it's the cold I have, but it was pretty bland but with a very peppery aftertaste. So what is the best one this year. I know M&S put on a good show and others do to, so any recommendations would be greatly received. No brie and cranberry for me thanks (I can do those myself cheaply!)

Currys have started their BF deals this week and say you can't find cheaper etc. - https://www.currys.co.uk/black-friday/black-friday-computing I'm looking at a TV from there, but waiting until next week to see if it can't be beaten when everyone else joins the fray.

I had a Mk4 Modeo before the Superb and I loved it. Right until someone pulled out in front of me in late May and wrote it off! The Superb, IMO, is another level above the Mondeo and is way better in the reliability stakes. I wouldn't balk at the Ford though should I need a new car in the future. The price of small cars is way up atm and bigger ones (still with great fuel economy) can be had for similar amounts. I only pay £30 road tax for my Superb Greenline and it does between 60-70 mpg on the motorway and is ULEZ exempt. My week pottering around Yorkshire on A and B roads and over the Pennines gave me an average of 54 mpg, which I was very happy with

Are you bothered about size as there are some very good larger cars which are very economical. If so, I'd recommend a Skoda Superb (yes, I have one, not an estate though). Just don't get an automatic as they will go wrong, but you get all the toys with an Elegance trim model and can whack in a cheap Android head unit that has Android Auto/Apple Car Play on it for all your in-car entertainment needs. Also the Skoda badge gives your car a cloak of invisibility and it will always be where you left it, untouched.

Great shot of the Blue Tit!

Shaun got a new one as his was in an almost terminal state (no puns please), but with prices skyrocketing we put mine on hold. Prices are now getting much better so will be looking at an Intel based one now I think.

On my Tour-de-Yorkshire last week we stopped by Rudston to see the monolith in the churchyard (or should that be the church built next to the monolith?). Got there as the sun was setting and it all looked rather lovely. It's the UK's largest standing stone.

Mine is almost 10 years old. The 4770k is fairly chugging now and I'm sure is involved in slash and burn agriculture in the amazon with its power draw...and seal clubbing.

That is good advice, I do have a few things I'm on the look out for, namely a 1440p 27" monitor for my son and, possibly, a new TV. Mine is getting on a bit now (7 years old) and the picture was never the best. I see currys have this - https://www.currys.co.uk/products/hisense-50a6bgtuk-50-smart-4k-ultra-hd-hdr-led-tv-10240139.html - and could fit the bill nicely.

It's that time of year once more and with many retailers already starting their sales I think it was time we got the ball rolling with the deals you have seen. As always, please post up links (from the retailers site and not from third party links please) to any deals you see and feel free to ask for others to keep an eye out for deals you might be looking for. I'll get the ball rolling with this rather nice Oppo phone from Currys who are making great efforts to be cheaper than everyone else this year. Yes, this is last years model, but is very well specced and very reasonably priced - https://www.currys.co.uk/products/oppo-find-x3-neo-256-gb-starlight-black-10222537.html

It is a bit 'Sandford', isn't it?

We caught the horn blowing ceremony on the market square at 9pm too and had a good chat with the lady doing it who gave us a nice historical overview of how it came about. I really like Ripon. Been there quit a few times back in the 90's but always on business, this was much nicer

Just spent a few days on a trip around Yorkshire and spent Wednesday night in Ripon. The whole place is covered in thousands of knitted poppies! It looks lovely
