Took my new car for a long run out to Castletrigg stone circle near Keswick on Saturday. Cleverly managed to fit the group of people sat in a circle in the middle behind one of the stones (they even took their boots off to go and sit down and left them outside the circle!) Also rather annoyed to find Cumbria bone dry compared to Preston!

[android] Skype on Android has deleted many contacts
Dos_Box posted a topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
This has annoyed me immensely. On Friday I noticed that my WhatsApp messages had removed the names of my contacts and all I was left with was numbers. At first I thought this was a glitch until a got call from someone who was previously in my Android contacts list and it wasn't tagging them by name. I went into my contacts to see what was up and on many of them I saw that they had a message that said (I should have screengrabbed this) 'This contact is managed by Skype). Those contacts were not in Skype, but it has removed all of their details from my phone. Needless to say I'm not happy as I have a lot to recreate and many I'll have to re-add from scratch. If you Google 'Skype has stolen my Android contacts' you'll see this is not exactly rare! So please be careful if you have Skype installed on your Android phone and ensure that it does not have access to your contacts - settings\apps\app management\skype\permissions\contacts - and ensure that Don't allow' is selected'! -
Ah, so it has 'everything' on it Another question needed I think, how long has this been going on for? *Trying not to sound like a doctor. ETA: Have you tried looking in Windows Defender Firewall\Allowed Applications to see if anything is lurking in there? I suspect it could be the management\admin console for a network app possibly, if you have any installed.

What is the workstation used for and is there any software unique to it?

Sorry, I meant if it is easy to reconfigure the alarm, not how it is activated.

I do have to ask, how easy is to for you to reconfigure the schools alarm system? Can some do it or are others hard locked?

It's out on Blu-ray at the end of next month (the 27th). I'll be getting the 4k version. I loved the second film far more than the first, and I held that in very high regard!

I have no idea how to go about that, but TES has this nice template for an ID card sized timetable - https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/mini-timetable-for-your-lanyard-12563465 Automating that could be a lot of fun though!

I got a new inkjet MFD (Epson) last year after my trusty HP finally gave up the ghost after 12 years hard service. They cam supplied with 'starter' carts which only allowed you to print a few pages befor running out. They wanted as much as the printer for a branded pack of carts, so I went for third party versions which wored fine, Until I didn't print for a month and they have now blocked fully. I'm just trying to raise the energy to strip it down and clean them manually with, as @dmj said, with acetone or alcohol. The situation is not helped by MFD devices shooting up in cost since covid and not coming back down again, which could very well be down to the chip shortages.

That actually looks like it's an orginal idea. May add that to the 'may go to see' list, which isn't exactly long this year!

I'll move this to the Hardware Forum (I know it's an awkward one to place) as you may get better visibility for your needs.

Boston Dynamics - Atlas, The Next Generation

It's like watching how some undead\ghoul types in horror films get themselves up from a beating. All it needs is some bone crunching sounds and a low moan! -
I've sat in my Mondeo for some quite long periods of time in the past. During lockdown I had to sit in it for quite a while whilst I triggered a DPF regen on it (using Forscan), as I couldn't take it out on a long run.

Oh, that is epic! If I didn't already have to put some funds aside for something else, I would have made a very impulsive buy there!

I went to see Civil War last night. I know it's had some mixed reviews, but I enjoyed it (not in a grim way), and thought it nailed lots of what goes on when a country disintegrates into chaos very well. Back in the 90's I did three tours in the Balkans, and this does show some of what really does go on. I also know that many reviewers say that the film doesn't tell you which side is which, but there is one line in the film that gives it away, and if you do watch it, then see if you can spot it. It's in the first 15 mins

Steam is just about to start its FPS Fest week with lots of offers on...well, I don't have to spell it out! It starts in 15 mins BTW (10am Pacific time), which is why you can't see it yet!

I was hooked after 20 mins. A lot of thought and care has gone into this production and the attention to detail is fantastic. I'd say it's possibly the best screen adaptation of a video game yet, and is going to be a benchmark for future adaptations.
