  1. Must remember to take my midnight dusk pic again tonight!
  2. And annoyed that he can't call reception to complain and ask for a refund.
  3. Adding this to my 'must see as soon as I can' list. Like a live action Loony Tunes apparently.
  4. Otter on a rock. I took this at Gait Barrows near Silverdale.
  5. :mod:Can we get this thread back on topic everyone. We all know that every school is different and every shool has it's own funding, development, investment priorities and issues because of those:mod:
  6. Just a quick reminder that if you are to post up a thread, to ensure it has a title that describes the issue you are facing. We have noticed that there are incresing amounts of threads appearing that simply mention the product the poster has a problem with, but no other information. Simply calling a thread 'Windows 11' or 'Windows 11 Problem' may prevent you from getting the help you need sooner, so please be descriptive of the issue you have i.e. 'Windows 11 Dropping Printers' will allow members who have experenced the same or similar thing to identify your need sooner and help you out

  8. Ooh, and damn, my watching partner isn't free until Saturday! No spoilers everyone!
  9. **UPDATE** Sadly we can't use the Space Centre this year. Apparently the October half term is their busiest period (which is why we could use it on the May half term in previous years as it's actually quiet for them). We shall most likely be using them for May 2025 though. I have just contacted a couple of other places that would provide an excellent venue for the conf and will keep you all in the loop once we hear back from them. It's all very hush-hush
  10. I know this a bit of a thread necro, but I thought it would be a good place (as it was the only result that came up in search discussing new Android tablets for non-education use) to mention my new tablet. My old one's battery was dying, on Android 9 and was getting very slow for web page rendering, and nothing in the past couple of year fitted my budget. As I only use it for light browsing, social media and non-intensive apps, I don't feel the need to spend £300+ on a device. This then came up - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CWRW4KZJ?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details - It was on sale for £109 (currently £149) and I would highly recommend it for anyone who just needs a tabet for light use or media playback. Not the fastest spec, but is on Android 14, has a good screen, is responsive and is sturdy and light. If you are in the market for a new tablet then it may be worth waiting for the next Amazon sale, or just keeping an eye on prices. My only niggle is that it seems to be designed to work in landscape mode (will rotate to portrait fine) with the speakers sitting each side of the screen. Oh, and my last tablet was from Teclast too and I got enough use out of it to be happy their kit was built well enough
  11. After reading through this thread, I do have to ask if anyone is using HP anymore? They used to be one of the top three, but in recent years there has been a decided lack of talk about them as a laptop (and desktop) provider on here I feel.
  12. Been watching The Outlaws season 3 atm. I didn't think they could pull off a third season, but they have and even though Christopher Walken isn't in it (apart from a very nice guest appearence) it hasn't faltered. The script is still as sharp and funny and the running gag of Malaki and Rani's train break-up does make me smile each time it comes up.
  13. I follow Asianometry, it does have some very informative content on there. Very good for keeping up with what is happeing in the tech manufacturing world.
  14. The Space Centre has been one of the best places we've had for the venue being as helpful as possible (as well as being an awesome place to hold it at). Last year was a bit of a nightmare, and I spent twice the amount of time getting the venue to sort us out than I did with the actual organisation of the main event.
  15. I always wondered why on Earth people would live here!
  16. Thanks everyone so the feedback far. Moving it a bit south is a good idea, how does the National Space Centre (which we ran with for a few years until they closed for refurb) in Leicester sound as a relatively central venue?
  17. Just an update for you all as to what is happening with our conference this year, especially as I said last year we'd be moving it back to its usual May slot for 2024. Well, it turns out that life has a great way of getting in the way. For those of you that have seen me over the past couple of years, you'll have noticed that I have been walking around like a spinning top that is running out of energy due to my needing two new hips. Last month I got some great news, and on Tuesday I'll be going under the knife to become a rubbish cosplay version of The Bionic Man with my first new hip being fitted. Because of this, we are now going to be holding EDIT 2024 in October once more. EDIT was held it at the Royal Armouries in Leeds last year, after our first choice, the National Railway Museum at York, couldn't host us due to the conference facilities being renovated. We haven't decided on a location or venue yet (please feel free to give us some ideas below), but will be working on this once I'm a bit more mobile. So don't worry, we shall be having a conf this year, it's just that I need to be able to walk in a straight line first!
  18. I don't think you can get them. As the gas used in the system is under pressure, it is very unlikely anything other than a proper repair will fix your problem. My old Mondeo needed a new condenser a bit back and was about £380 inc. recharge IIRC.
  19. That is sad, he was a bit of a hero when I was a kid.

  21. No one memed this thread yet?! I've had more than a few drives over the years suddenly not want to play anymore. Currently workign on a freinds dads all-in-one PC that is refusing to play. Lots of bad sectors and now planning this as a life saving operation before it too finally dies and takes all his stuff with it.
  22. I hope there are no "sharks" in the water off the beaches!
