  1. It's time to bleed your wallets dry once more - https://store.steampowered.com/specials/
  2. Erm...they want to charge £12 for 50p? I may just indulge in that! Or possibly wait to see if they do a 4 coin pack. Or I can get each one individually and then have them framed at the end of the year. That would look epic.
  3. Welcome @Cole, and it's always nice to see a lurker come into the light!
  4. I'll sticky this thread
  5. Since Windows Mail (I use for my personal account) got renamed to Outlook (New), it gets very annoying when I click on something and I get asked if I want to open it in Outlook, or Outlook (New).
  6. :mod:I'm editing the thread title to make it more relevant!
  7. You can view the page at https://edugeek.me/article/730
  8. Lego people age 5 times faster than humans too!
  9. **BUMP** This is still happening and due for release next year - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3566834/ I hope they get it right, but the cast looks good for this kind of thing.
  10. Did your school burn down? In all seriousness though, the level of investment for laptops and desktops for a fully 1-2-1 school would be huge (as others have mentioned, you'd have to really invest in the backend and infrastructure), not to mention the extra power useage the schoool would see, possibly increasing their power bill by a not insignificant amount.
  11. I have a benchmark. Went to a LoTR (extended edition) marathon with my son last year. Never again!
  12. I'm off to see it at Vue tonight and very much looking forward to it. I think some Vue's in the region (NW) will be doing a Dune double bill soon once the main run of Dune II is done. ETA: Yep - https://www.myvue.com/cinema/manchester-printworks/film/dune-and-dune-2-double-bill - but doesn't seem to be any timings up yet (unless I've already missed them!).
  13. Pretty much that. There would be someone with a price label gun labeling up every item, then the cashier would have to look at it and enter it manually at the till. Supermarkets were always full of the sound of some poor soul manually pricing up hundreds of tins and packets. And if the price changes, guess what?! Barcodes were like black magic when they appeared.
  14. You are so lucky! QL's are getting silly expensive and collectable now and your laptop sounds like a very collectable item. ETA: Do you any pics of it? I'm just trying to look it up and coming up with nothing. This is the kind of thing that a pic of it on the net would go around the world I suspect.
  15. I've had this happen occasionally, I find that turning off 'Set time automatically' then switching it back on works. if not, then turn off all the automatic time\date options then turn them back on again. There was a reason for this, but I've forgotten it now
  16. @Brax, did you catch the webinar we did with British Esports last year? Some of your questions may be answered in there:
  17. That should be worth a bit more (older stamps generally are). I'd take it to a stamp shop and have them take a look for you. Stamps being stamps however, mean a keen eye and in-depth knowledge are needed to sort out the 'common' from rare, even though to the untrained eye they look identical. I wish I knew what happened to my childhood stamp collection, I think it was passed on once I'd left home and joined the army in the mid-80's. Along with my ZX81, C16 and Atari 130XE. I had a lot of penny blacks and reds in there as well as a lot of other Victorian stamps from the early days.
  18. There is a lot of truth in that. I picked up three albums of UK first day covers at an auction for pennies. These covered the mid-70's to the early 2000's and try as I might, I can't shift them on Ebay. I bought them with just the description and was hoping that there would be some 50's\60's ones in there, but sadly not. The price for some collectable stamps now is very low and I picked up two first day covers recently to get framed. One is the 1966 England Winners first day cover (AFAIK, the only time the word 'England' has appeared on a UK stamp, and the other the 25th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, both of which when I was younger and collecting would costs a fair few pennies. I paid £4.99 for each. The hobby is dying off now and kids don't have much exposure to stamps these days, plus the world has got very small over the past 30 years. What is happening now is that collectors are passing away and the market is getting flooded with a lot of high quality collections being broken up and the availability of formerly uncommon stamps is high. It's a bit like the whole rare video game cart thing in the US where they certify them and put them in plastic cases to be collected. It then turned out that these games were not in fact rare, but there are many, many examples that have been sat in boxes in the attic alongside their original console since the 90's. Now awareness about retro game collecting has spread, these attics are now being raided for the collectable goodies within and prices are dropping for some formerly rare carts. TBH, I prefer older stamps that didn't look like posters that had been shrunk down.
  19. Saw this on my lunchtime walk on the Ribble Link at my end of Preston. Some of you may get this
  20. When is that out? I find that many have got out of the habit of going to the cinema since lockdown, especially as there isn't the steady stream of movies people want to see to get bums back on seats. Dune II will do well, as will the new Ghostbusters, but that will fill up once Dune has done its run I think.
  21. How was the 9am showing yesterday?
  22. Want! I have tickets booked for Thursday, and seats were filling up fast. Not a chance of getting in this weekend.
  23. Sounds like a reasonable case for a warranty claim then
  24. Have you tried different cables and a new GPU, just to make sure it is the monitor? If that is all good, then I'd be ringing them to get it swapped out.
  25. Just read the review of Out Of Darkness in Fortean Times and thought I'd share the trailer in here. Set 45,000 years ago about a group of hunter gatherers looking for a better place to live, but being stalked by 'something' on the way. It is supposed to be very historically accurate, and they invented the language used in the film based on the earliest known tongues. Sadly, the cinema run is over, but it's out on blu-ray at the end of March.
