  1. And set in Whitby by the looks of it. I wonder if any of the characters will have kippers?
  2. Not really into horror films tha much, but that looks quite good. And Hopefully no sparkly vampires (see the Twilight Pitch Meeting for that reference!).
  3. That is a very sad loss, althought at 93, no one can complain he didn't have a good innings and with a whole raft of iconic movies under his belt, his legacy will be remembered for a very, very long time.
  4. My girlfriend and I went to Heysham on Saturday to see the 8th century Saxon chapel. The church shown started as a larger (replacement) version of the smaller, now ruined original in the 9th century by the Saxons. The large nNorse stone, which you can view in the church was a viking burial stone and, according t the warden we spoke too, was for a very high-status viking. The 'graves' are actually ossuaries (to put bones, rather than bodies in) and I learnt this weekend, used on the cover for Black Sabbeths greatest hits album. The warden asked if we knew the band and if they were popular We had orginally intended to go and see Sambo's grave at Sunderland Point, just south of Heysham as I'd never been and there is a nice walk there, but I didn't know the road there was a tidal causeway, and it was flooded when we got to it!
  5. @ZeroHour has been after one of those to manage streaming for the conf. And no, we shan't show you the live stream from it
  6. It's covering a low-res 1980's water main.
  7. I've just realised that you can tell how old mancovers are around here by their default resolution!
  8. I shall bump this again for those of you that missed it. We shall be putting up tickets in the next week or so once we have some more details nailed down
  9. Don't worry, Techmoan has you covered!
  10. I wonder if they'll have those really cheap ones you got from the discount shops back then? You know the ones (and we *almost* all bought some!), the sounded terrible when recorded on, and don't even think about saving programs to them!
  11. Yay! I watched the first season not long back, and loved it
  12. This is getting like the Terminator and Alien movies, with each release I hope that it will get them back on track. I am often dissapointed.
  13. Oh dear, and Exchanage issue with days to go. Best of luck!
  14. Bah! I really did get my dates wrong! Apologies to anyone who now feels the pressure of the clock ticking with last minute work.
  15. For many of you, today is either an inset day or the first day of term, and all of the hard work you have put in over the summer is about to meet reality. So, what has broken against the tidal wave of keyboard destroyers for you? Or has everythign held fast and worked exactly as planned?
  16. I was going to go to this on Sunday - https://nwtpc.co.uk/tractor-pulling-show/ - but it's due to rain all Sunday now and sitting watching that all afternoon could be miserable. Hopefully it'll come fine for the day! Is anyone else doing something fun this weekend?
  17. Thanks for the head-up Tom, That will help when I get the attendees instructions up! And 'Grrr' TfL!
  18. Just so you know, for the first time ever (and not for lack of wanting too), we are to be holding our annual free EduGeek EDIT Conference in London. This will be on the 30th October at the RAF Museum, Hendon. More details on tickets, speakers and exhibitors to come in September. Many thanks to Smoothwall for once more sponsoring the event Spread the word!
  19. We have a boat come up the Ribble into Preston to drop off a very large transformer for a local electrical site. They move it by road on Sunday.
  20. Toys that teach you respect for consequences are the best toys!
  21. We had that the other night, very low, large and red just over the top of the horizon. Sadly I was driving and couldn't stop to take a pic.
  22. Was out for a walk around Brockholes Nature Reserve just outside of Preston yesterday afternoon and this little mouse (I think it's a Wood Mouse) decided to join us just by the bench we were sat on by a bird feeding area. It was totally unfazed by us and we could move around on the bench to watch it:
  23. Happy birthday, @ICTDirect_Dave, a big one this year
  24. Good for them, better than shipping it to Africa and other places to be dumped. Kinda reminds me of this for some reason: There's gold everywhere!
  25. The Johnny Maxwell books are great and Pratchett really did have a good view of youth in the same way that John Huges did. I'm currently almost at the end of David Mitchell's Unruly, a book on the kings and queens of England. It helps if you read it in his voice too! https://www.theguardian.com/books/2023/oct/12/unruly-by-david-mitchell-review-monarchs-behaving-badly
