I'm in the process of renewing my daughters phone contract. Three have a Black Friday offer on for a 40GB pay monthly SIM (which she was on before) for £10 per month - https://www.three.co.uk/shop/sim-only/pay-monthly?tenure=24&tier=lite&data=40gb Perfect I think, then start to read the fine print: I then went to their price increase page - https://www.three.co.uk/support/bills-and-contracts/your-monthly-plan-and-usage/price-increase - which states this: As I'm recovering from an operation and on some pretty good meds which make thinking fuzzy at times, I just want to poll the EduGeek collective to see if I'm reading this correctly, as it seems to suggest that it will increase the price each month, but on the same page says this: So, is it just referring to a single annual monthly rise (which is fine and we all expect), or is this a 'deal' where you end up paying a lot more month on month later on? Any help greatly received.

Yes we'll be there as usual and we'll be there with ICT Direct again in January It used to be you could have a (paid for) seperate entry in the showguide to promote yourself if being hosted on another stand, but the organisers have got rid of that facility sadly.

I think it's about time I bought a new air fryer. I got a cheap one a few years back to dip my toes in the water, but it's now time to fully commit! This dual bay Tefal one seems to fit the bill nicely and with 44% off (the cheapest it's been on Amazon) I can't pass it up:) https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tefal-Dehydrate-Non-Stick-Dishwasher-EY901840/dp/B0CGJQSBQ7?crid=13QWPOXN6L5SS&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.zerZ9ebK7928UkLus8qVjRxvw0p_F5VkTTIJDJZ-6S07-wBXVYN21EhAgAN6lmbAxVhYzv2YkDP_E2Jy5wY61LDwVQQgD3wPImW2a67DgMWm-C28DPuvsy6BYc9SD_qUuZEkfzq3HdEqSlFFHpTjcqOr4pqzNA40VmgNaRBuoQuz5_kZ-HYgZhakSf36pEZswx_XOVptZD_FnzZZzH_m28NUmJ0WrYwjY334e5L2Xgo.PPVPrp4oj9B6z6n50WjRvQrb9-b9GylP6uXjFt7pwcs&dib_tag=se&keywords=tefal%2Bair%2Bfryer&nsdOptOutParam=true&psr=EY17&qid=1732291480&s=black-friday&sprefix=tefal%2Bair%2Bfryer%2Cblack-friday%2C128&sr=1-3&ufe=INHOUSE_INSTALLMENTS%3AUK_IHI_5M_VF&th=1

Yeah, I was very surprised, it just had (almost) everything, and seeing Jeff Goldbum going from bumbling diety to downright sinister and evil diety in the space of seconds was a joy. It was also great to spend a lot of time recognising actors who suddenly appear. I really do hope Netflix see's the error of its ways and comission a second season. I also got the impression that every actor was having a blast with this, and my favorite was Nabhaan Rizwan playing Zeus's son Dionysus, he's got some great comedic timing and Lucy spent a lot of time impressed by his wardrobe

Binged Kaos on Netflix this week whilst I've been convalescing and really enjoyed it. It's Greek mythology with a modern twist and has dark humour and brutality in almost equal amounts. There is a great cast of experienced and upcoming actors, wonderful production values and an amazing soundtrack. Sadly they have already said there will not be a second season, but fingers crossed they change their minds. What I really liked though is that whilst it may seem over the top at times, it actually fits in exactly with greek legends and how the gods really behaved in the myths. The trailers do it no justice sadly. Have a clip (NSFW):

Once more, the carrot of large discounts is dangled before us, and we all hope that we can get either that 'thing' we have been after for ages or a large chunk of our Xmas shopping can be aquired at a decent discount. TBH, I have seen some decent offers, particularly for phones and TV's so far this week, but the gates really open tomorrow, so post up any deals you see in this thread and let us all know if there is something in particular you are after, so we can all keep an eye out for you. As always, please try and use CamelCamelCamel to make sure that the item is something that hasn't been available for cheaper in previous periods and hopefully we'll all be able to get at least one thing we've had our eye on. I'm looking out for a decent phone for my dad (up to £300), and some decent LED torches of various sizes, not just the general rubbish ones that Amazon ususally has and a good PCIe 4.0 1TB SSD for my sons PC.

-
And the second video from EDIT 2024 is now up. The talk, delivered by Paul Nicholas from ABLOY, is 'Martyns law, Compliance for life safety in educational facilities' and covers school door access and escape controls and legislation:

I'm glad to hear you are on the mend Andrew, and like many here, I think we have all, at some point, been worked far too hard without either realising it ourselves, or management knowing, but not caring, but it does affect us, often without our noticing. Mood changes, broken sleep and other symptoms that we don't notice because they creep up on us slowly, over time. I think this is possibly my thread of the year, about a subject we often talk about, but possibly ignore, because we have work to do.

AI - Edu licenses CoPilot/ChatGTP

We shall be getting Microsoft's talk about Copilot and pricing etc. from last week's conf up on our YouTube channel this week. It was a very good talk and should have all the information you require in there inc. pricing and capabilities. TBH, it looks very fully featured and very useful, but given the pricing, I think it'll be management and SLT that will gain most from it until prices settle. -
It may be that it is worth asking a vendor what the MTBF for a particular model's hinges are? The manufacturers must surely test these, and in a high-impact environment such as schools, and that would be very useful information to have when assessing new laptop purchases.

Just bought a Baby Dreadnought from Timefactors who I have been buying watches from (they design their own) for some years now. It's very pretty and very well specced for the price.

And I've just received this from Nellcote, who will be speaking and exhibiting on the day. Their talk 'Penetration Testing 101' should be very informative, as I know many of you have been asking about the in's and out's of penetration testing recently.
