I'm going to buy a second hand Switch Mk1 soon. I always loved the Switch games due to playability, and the fact you don't have to spend the first hour of the game learning just how all the controls work. I bought my kids one when they first came out and was always impressed with it. I can't justify buying a new one, especially after the disappointment of the Xbox One X. I'd sold my One S to offset costs only to find that the games are pretty much the same and all game companies did was reskin their older titles to 4k! A Switch is perfect for a casual gamer like me.

Sad news - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cy5ry5x9xz0o For all of his flaws, he starred in some of the most iconic films of the 80's and 90's. RIP Iceman.

We are to be archiving a lot of old\unused forums, and next will most likely be the Windows Vista\7\8 forums into the Windows forum. It does make the forum pages less cluttered and allows us to put some new forums in. I feel your pain about how the 'new posts' list contains many posts from the same thread and we are to be, if we can, sorting all of this out in time, but there is still a lot to do and @ZeroHour only has so many hands and time! Weirdly, I was taking a look at our stats last week, and there are still some out there using Windows Vista\7\8.

Google have dropped us a line to let you all know about their Education IT Admin Summit 2025 event on the 20th June. This will be held at their London office on St Pancras Square and you can register for your place here - https://rsvp.withgoogle.com/events/googleitsummit2025 and we shall be there to see you all too 😊

That would be @elsiegee40 monthly subscription 😅

Indeed, I enjoy my visit to try and locate Fortean Times on the shelves each month as the staff don't really know which section to put it in and it 'moves around'.

WH Smiths to go - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cj3n3en7gppo Their shops have been sold to Hobbycraft owner Modella Capital and to be renamed to TG Jones, but intend to operate as before.

The various languages also played havoc with our history. I read this a few years ago - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Long-War-Britannia-367-644-Post-Roman/dp/1399013750 (highly recommended btw). It's a pretty dry read, but is very well researched and one thing that is apparent is that all of the different languages pay havoc with the historical record due to the various factions (Briton, Angle, Saxon, celt etc.) recording, where they could, different names for place names, battles and the leaders that took part in them. These then get mangled further down the line with them now being recorded as separate events and people. Then it gets more and more messy the nearer we get to our time looking backwards.

This looks exciting (if it happens) - https://dailygalaxy.com/2025/03/blaze-star-explode-see-with-naked-eyes/

Yes, we watched that when it first came out and loved it. The Americans really are doing some great ghost based stuff atm.

It really is, and Mark Hamill plays a great role as their lawyer, a real dark character!

Another vote for Dell here. I used to buy PowerEdge servers when I was at the coalface, and never once had an issue in the many years I ran them.

Just finished Fall of the House of Usher. A great ghost story and well told based on the works of Edgar Allen Poe. Carla Gugino stole the show for me as Verna. I won't spoil it if you haven't seen it yet, but it's well worth your time if you haven't. And like many of you, I finished the second season of Severance on Friday, I can't wait for the final one Still so many questions!

Legends

Male or female Tawny Owl? We had a female on the park that wasn't afraid of calling during the day a few years back. It really used to spook the kids!

The awards system on the old site were, IIRC, a plugin. We could (possibly) get everyone's old scores and put them in, but we'd have to check what the rules are for the new awards built into here are. This could mean that everyone gets ranked as the Emperor Of The Known Universe, which could create friction. And the need for a sandworms forum.

I've been getting some message from a friend out testing a new spotting scope today and he tells me we have had two cranes at Hesketh Out Marsh RSPB reserve near me today. They have now gone to Pilling further north. It's the time of year when some of them migrate via the UK northwards, so no real chance of them settling around here, although we do have a of suitable habitat for them.

Right you are Halo.

Joe 90?

Let me start you off again.

Working on EduGeek is like driving a car full of bored, sugered up 13 year olds! 😝

I've just found out that you can't see this just yet (it will get enabled). I can see it, and I'm still getting used to the new layout, so if I give incorrect advice, then please excuse me as there is still a bit to be configured and turned on for you.

Yes, extra themes will be added in once they have been converted. We had to go with defaults (and a slightly modified one for our needs) to begin with and other themes will be available in due course. Please be patient, it's a very big thing to move over to a whole new platform and it does have to be done in steps, with the biggest one happening with the initial migration. Then we have to make sure everything works when we went live. We anticipate a few issues that will need looking at (because there always are) but so far, it's been a relatively smooth process.

I believe that the previous site's achievements were not transferable for technical reasons (they may have been a plugin), but will check with ZeroHour to see if anything can be done.
