Windows Steadystate? Freebie from Microsoft allows you freeze the computer disk. Reboot all back to normal. and you can do some locking down too. For 30 PC's i would still want domain, but if your up to a bit of manual configuration, it might do the job for you.

I fail to see how a handbuilt is any faster than a RIS built, same files... only difference is you have a config file auto answering questions for you and the files come down a network cable instead of off a CD....

There is a security policy that allows non administrators to install drivers in group policy.

I'm sure your redirection folder is wrong, needs to be set to \\mmserver\redirection$\startmenu instead of \\mmserver\redirection$\startmenu\programs
-
Can you attach a screen shot of the group policy box where you have put the redirected startmenu folder path in, and also a screenshot of your folder structure from within Windows Explorer, with folders expanded?
-
Have you made a subfolder called Programs under the redirected folder? so \\server\share\startmenu\Programs ? It needs the Programs folder.
-
For performance i recommend you use a startup script to sync the a local copy with a network copy, and redirect the startmenu/desktop to this local source. Using robocopy is quick and painless.

is this in case they draw a stick man, then using RM Connect 2.4 change the servers wallpaper using the "replicator" account ? with password as replicator1 ?

Was CC4 not a natural progression from CC3 then? I would have expected them to get CC3, then try and build a Vista station using it, find what does not work, fix it whilst also adding new features to the existing package, much like Microsoft do with Windows, ie grab Windows Vista build and keep modifying it until it becomes 7. Sounds more like they have started from scratch like they did with Connect 2.4 > Connect 3.

We changed our timetable layout in September and we've just noticed that some of the start and finish times are wrong for our periods. I cannot for the life of me find where you specifiy this. I've tried NovaT 6 too, but cannot see it anywhere, anybody know where it is hiding?

What happens to your whole wireless network when that central box that controls them breaks?

We have the SIMS Learning Gateway, and if your after a solution to offer the parent access to pupil information ONLYi would recommend Insight from Tasc software instead. Its much better. We are only going to use the SIMS Learning Gateway for pupils to see information on the intranet, and for teachers with profiles/mark sheets. It was orginally going to be for parents too, but we found Tasc software's offering so much better, more information, better layout, better managment, better support. costs a fraction of Sims solution.

Does anybody have a copy of the letter that they sent home to parents telling them they can now access their childs behaviour etc via the internet? Were almost at the point, and could do with some wording idea's for the letter.

I had 1 more adult advert after that one appear and its been normal adverts ever since, such as ebay or a powertool. The adult one said the link was from doubleclick.net i presume it was legit and somthing not attaching its self to adverts on my machine. Ad-Aware found nothing.
-
Anbody else had the advert like on this screenshot? (Right hand side) Noticed some threads from last year about this, but looks like its back again, just hope the filters would grab it if i was in school, would not look good on a projector.

It was, sorry if it came across as a different question but it was to do with KMS Server and licensing. I wanted to know how we do with Vista what we do with XP, which is in the current way, PC comes in with XP Pro Licence or Vista Business , we connect it to the network, and blank it, and rebuild it up with one of our XP Pro Images using the volume licence key so we do not have to go through this annoying product activation (or the painful process of manually typing each key in), which we are allowed to do under Microsoft's reimage rights, which allows you to install the Volume Licence edition on a PC with an OEM Licence as long as they are identical versions, Now with Vista its got so complicated and akward, and i still do not understand how i do this with Vista. We have 6 Vista Business Upgrade licences from select, which we bought for testing, and have a Volume Licence Key. Our latest batch of laptops came with Vista Business on, so i'm covered for those 30 PC's to run Vista Business, so how do i deploy them with Vista and not have to manually activate them? As far as i understand we have to use a local KMS Server. But how to i get those OEM licenses understood by the KMS Server as a MAK key? At the desk i got asked who makes this "KMS Server" (Microsoft does), got told that i should not be swapping between OEM and Volume License, which i can under Reimage rights, then to buy the machines OS less and buy a Volume License for them, but you can only buy Upgrade versions of OS licenses via Volume License, so still need an OEM licence with the machine to upgrade. I came away more confused, still not understanding how i solve my problem, and that nobody seemed to have an answer or understanding of Microsoft's complicated licensing. I have so many issues with Vista still its not funny, i was hoping these would be sorted in Windows 7, and i could just keep using XP Pro on any new hardware until Windows 7 is ready. But if the Windows 7 Beta i downloaded last week is anything to go by these problems are still there, and one of them being this new way Volume Licensing works, so i better get my head around it now, but i'm really struggling with it, and i cannot seem to find answers
