  1. Did they Beg you to not put XP on and use there Glorious Windows Vista?
  2. You can also phone Microsoft and they will convert you a Vista Business key into a XP Key. Can you not order 1 CD and 1 Upgrade licence from somebody like ramesys, then you can use Volume Licence?
  3. Thanks, i'm cannot decide over this one as Server will be about 50 meters away from the fax, so part of me wants the linksys for ease, but its gotta work so another part says get FXS card... Have you ever used the Fax to e-mail option in Asterisk? Does it work like the description says, simple e-mail's any fax that comes in?
  4. Are you saying then get an Linksys ATA box and if it works it works, if not its best to do what powdarrmonkey monkey recommends and get an internal FXS card? or is it more to do with network traffic effecting if the fax works?
  5. Next question, the fax machine, we have 2, how do these fit into the picture? Can it be as simple as a little box your plug in network cable one end, give box an IP and plug the analogue phone/fax in the other end????
  6. Exactly why i do not want a Touch Phone! I sent just over 3000 Texts last month, i can text without looking at the screen almost on my N95, touch screen? NO WAY. Instead of a new phone have you thought of just staying with current phone and changing to a SIM Only price plan? Thats what i did a year ago and i still do not want rid of my N95, its the first time since i was 18 i've never wanted to upgrade when contract is up.
  7. Our plan is to have every student in Years 9,10 and 11 to have their own Netbook. Between now and July is our testing phase with a class of 30 using them and taking them around with them instead of using the laptop trolleys which are loved by both kids and teachers. Were going for the Asus Eee PC 1000H because of the 10" Screen, has a 1024*768 mode of those odd apps that just need a little more space, 93% full size keyboard so easy to type on, the 6 Cell battery lasts ages, comes with XP Home so just a £30 payment per machine to upgrade to Pro with Select agreement. Hate the mousepad, Samsung NC10 has a much better one, but NC10 has no Wireles 'N' support which a lot of Netbooks seem to be missing. I'm sure the first company who releases one of these netbooks with a 12.1" (1024*800 support) Screen, 6 Cell Battery, and ABGN Wireless support will have schools flocking to buy. As these little books seem to be able to take drops that regular laptops cannot, are lightweight, so ideal for schools. Levono say the are releasing a new model later this year with A and N support, maybe they will do a 12" version
  8. Are they just as easy to setup with Asterisk? I've got AsteriskNOW working on a box, and got 4 Nokia N95's all communicating with it which is fun. Now we want to look at the serious costs.
  9. If were were to get an ISDN30e , and use 8 channels, which digium card should i go for, there are so many, and its a new world to me.
  10. Could you tell me what the Lenobo S10e is like? We are looking Netbooks for a different reason, and currently have Samsung NC10 Asus EeePC1000H for testing. Both have ups and downs, NC10 does not have an N capable Wireless Card (just B/G), which for us will be a problem and it does not have this magic 1024*768 mode (as far as i can see) which the ASUS has, (it misses out a few pixels to give a good attempt at it) Handy for when you need that little bit more res. The Asus 1000H's mouspad is no where near as good as the samsung NC10 though, but has the N capable wireless card. Both have a decent size keyboard, So on the S10e, Whats the keyboard like? is it 92/93% full size? Screen res in the spec says 1024*578 is this true? nothing higher? Battery life? Mousepad is it anygood?
  11. I would suggest giving Microlib a call, they are normally good support wise. I'm sure there must be some backdoor into it for this kind of scenario.
  12. Only got it on my work PC and i'm currently having to terminal to other machines to do some tasks where IE6 or 7 is installed. Such as Docman link in Joomla does not like IE8, the link never appears in the document, and the compatability mode does not seem to fix it
  13. Would that be daisyplc.com ? How many lines did you take out, and how much do you pay in line rental? Seems a bargin free install!
  14. Anybody done a VOIP service in house? As in just order the BT ISDN30e line, get a DDI range, install and setup an astrix box and put in the phones? If you have, was it easy, and how much did BT charge for the ISDN30e line?
  15. I've just been approached by our head today, currently when we have a job going it is put on the website with job spec and a scanned copy of our application form in PDF which they can download, print off and fill in if they wish, which people do. Somebody who's applying has asked if we have an application form they can fill in on the computer. My first thoughts were, convert it to .doc , so i grabbed a converter, and it comes out at 945 Meg. Its a big form, as most application forms are. So now i'm going to re-write it , any thoughts on the best way? Should i just stick to a word document, is there somthing fancy with infopath that can be done? somthing i have missed?
  16. If its a Ranger product its RM. RM have owned Ranger and Sentinel since Feb 2004 . RM acquires network software developer Sentinel Products
  17. On the properties of the group policy, under security could you some how use the 'Deny' tick for the apply group policy? Maybe at that PC to a group, and add the group to deny there?

    Windows os

Just out of interest, when was the last time you phoned up Microsoft and asked for support with Windows XP? I've only had to do this once in the last 6 years. Did you apply Service Pack 3 because it was there or because it fixed things that were effecting you? If there was a really big security problem with XP, Microsoft for the next few years will still bring out a patch as they did this with NT 4 and 2000 after main stream support had ended. I would just stay with Windows XP. At least for the next year.
  19. It will not appear until the next day once ADP Provisioning.bat has run over night. You can force it to happen now by clicking ADP Provisioning.bat on the SIMS Server's desktop.

    Dell Prices

Its all still not been finalised, managment are still playing with idea's, so far, i believe around 220 of these. We've been looking at the Asus Eee PC 1000H, as much as i love them my head says getting a 12" netbook instead of a 10" is the better way, but trying to get a 12" Netbook with a 6 hour battery, and a N wireless card with Windows XP around the £250 mark excluding VAT is well impossable so far.

    Dell Prices

Does anybody know if Dell's prices drop much from the price on there website when do it via an account manager or when you buy in 100's ? Looking at the Dell Mini 12, and comes out at £388 with VAT for the 6 Cell version. But would want to strip out the Mini PCI Wireless Card and put an N capable one in. Really need to try and get a 12" Netbook for under £300 ex VAT.
  22. We do not have RM Connect here, but i would have thought RM Updates include some Microsoft ones, and some for the RM Middleware, so what you going to when the bug is to do with the RM Software?
  23. Well today is IE8's Launch Day, who's gonna dive in and deploy it Microsoft Announces Availability of Internet Explorer 8: New browser focuses on top customer needs, including security, ease of use and performance.
  24. Do RM not do RM Interlink anymore, like they did for RM Connect LM and Connect 2.x ?You use to get a J: Drive which was MyWork on the other network, and passwords were kept in sync.
  25. If you look at the screenshot at the top of this thread http://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=96437 Which way would you go about creating buttons like the ones in the center of the page like MyCalendar, MyHomepage and the Weblinks one? Is there some place on the internet full of those graphics like books and the globe? Edit: I've attached it, forget you need a moodle login to see.
