Hi All, I've recently started getting errors when connecting to some of our servers saying: "\\printserver is not accessible. You might not have permissions to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. No more connections can be made to this remote computer at this time because there are already as many connections as the computer can accept." This has happened on 2 different servers on two different laptops in the last week. This first laptop was a Vista laptop not connected to the domain, I fixed that by resetting the server (I was able to do it as it was during the holidays). The second one is my Windows 7 Enterprise laptop (also not joined to the domain) - I am unable to reset the server as there are still alot of people connected to it. What is causing this problem? How can I check how many connections there are to the server? I didn't even know that servers had a limit? Both Servers are running Server 2008 Standard. Thanks!

Just checking, you do this on the group policy on the DC that does the redirection? Because I've changed this and folders as still appearing as "Documents"

Sorry to bother, did you ever find that policy? Because I'm now having the same problem with Windows 7 [see attached picture]

I've noticed this as well, it's creating a redirected copy under the librarys, but the local ones are also showing, I can see it creating confusion and people will end up saving into the local documents instead if the network documents.

In XP, to create the default profile, I used to logon as a specific user, setup everything the way I wanted and then log off that user, log on as Admin, and copy the profile to Documents and Settings/Default User Is this still the case with Win 7? --- No, apparently you can't, you have to use Sysprep... LAME

OK, next question, I've manually joined it to the domain, but its still giving me the Win 7/Vista style logon, ie. not asking for username. If you want to log on as anybody else other than the domain admin (the domain account I manually added) you have to pick the "switch user" button. How can I enable the normal domain logon window?

Another thing I've just realised, is there no longer a local admin account? Because I wasn't asked to set the password for it during setup... Sorry if these are stupid questions

Odd question, I've just installed Win 7 Enterprise (ISO from the Volume Licensing Site) and set it up on one of our PCs as a test. At no point during the installation did it ask me to join the PC to the domain. Once the setup was finished, it asked me to create a user, name the pc, set a password for the user and choose the network location. I assumed it had't picked up the network as this is what XP does when it hasn't detected a network card, but no, Win 7 booted and it was connected to the network and had been assigned an IP by our DHCP? Is this by default? Have a missed something? It just seems silly to now have the additional steps of joining it to the domain and then removing the temporary user?

a few more n00b questions (sorry in advance)... 1) Are the Win7 keys shown on licensing.microsoft.com for Enterprise or Pro? 2) When you register a KMS key on a KMS Server, do you need to use that key when installing the client, or do you not use any key when installing the client and it automatically finds your KMS server and gets its own key? 3) Do clients have be on a domain for it to pickup your domain KMS Server?

I'm busy fiddling with the Aruba WiFiCfg_XP tool, very nifty, adds the network etc, but for some reason it enables the "Connect even if this network is not broadcasting" option. Would this create problems if I have 5 or 6 WAPs installed? I.E. Will it pick up when there is an active one around?

Hi all I'm busy testing a new setup for our staff with laptops. I started off with joining their laptops to the domain and configuring offline files etc... Many of the staff (including myself) are finding the their laptops are painfully slow when not connected to the domain, not just in logging on, which can take up to 5 minutes! Sometimes you can click the start button and wait a minute before it pops up etc etc... So I thought I'd try configuring the users as local admins. Now they log onto their laptops much quicker, and any disconnects means things continue to work. I put a shortcut on their desktop to their home drives and they currently enter the network credentials whenever accessing any network folders. Can anybody please give me any suggestions/hints/tips on how to make working on the network as seemless as possible? Domain clients have all their drives mapped via a logon script, the problem with local admins trying to do this is the script won't map the drives unless they've authenticated against each of the servers that it's trying to map a drive on. The only option I've found so far is that they enter their username/password when prompted via the script, and that passes it as it maps it?

Hi everyone Quick question, is it possible to have ISA 2006/TMG Beta setup as a gateway for your network and still be able to log web requests on a per user basis and still be able to restrict access on a per user basis? I.E. Can I have a rule saying that any user in the OU "Deny Internet Access" will be denied access? and will I be able to look in logs and see who is the biggest user etc... These are all things I can currently do if ISA/TMG is configured as a Proxy Server, not sure if it's do-able when configured as a gateway?

I'm using a FreeBSD distro called pfSense - does exactly that. One thing to keep in mind tho, you'll only get double the speed if you have a program (Firefox's DownThemAll) that is capable of creating multiple connections to the server. Otherwise all it gives you is load balancing capabilities.
