Chrome isnt user friendly? confusing statement
-
Possible stupid question about remote apps, is it advisable to have a separate server to deal with this? if several staff/ students wanted to use it for example?(Just thinking for future reference)
-
I m a GPO fan, it has its cons (needing to reboot) but I always make sure my machines shutdown overnight and startup early morning plus I like to keep everything in one place

stone computers has my seal of approval!

Dont know how I could live without this supplier! great spec, great build, two PC's had problems, no questions asked, replaced next day -
Not to put a downer on it, it took me a year to work out how everything things vannilla wise then it took me a year to plan out my system, you have to not rush and you need to plan so you dont annoy users, I did this twice and it didnt go down well! What you need to learn: *Group Policy (Especially GPP, make life alot easier) *Active Directory *DNS *DHCP *Printer Management *Restoring Vanilla servers *User Management (profiles, scripting, creation etc..) *Package Deployment *Not exactly needed but virtualisation is worth looking into, especially for software deployment *Testing all software with Windows 7 *Security But mostly its planning

Its been going well for me, just been starting in non essensial areas, runs like a dream! but doing baby steps
-
I've looked everywhere but all the guides seem to make it simple! I can access imap internally but I cant get it to work externally, I ve asked the LEA to open 993/ 143 and they said they have, when I try to connect it says it cant connect to the server. Now I took over from someone else so could i have a wierd setting internally? or i there a way to test if the LEA have opened the above ports? Also Imap enabled for user, any suggestions?
-
I ve done this recetly with Group Policy Preferences, I delete (for example) allusers\startmenu\SimsApplications when student logs in and re-add for staff users when they log on

Be thankful for it! windows 2008/r2 does everything that cc4 does, plus anything else I need I usually find with freeware, with no RM about just do infrastructure upgrades
-
I heard moving from CC3 to CC4 would cost alot of money, this is just licencing costs not even hardware! My personal preferance would be moving completely Vanilla (took over a CSE network) but this will take alot of planning on a technical side, unless you have someone with good technical knowledge I would suggest two things: 1. Stay with CC3 (still supported) and in your first year, upgrade your infrastructure and look at moving too a new system the following year 2. Get a company like CSE to install a new system (even though I hate their software the people I talk to there generally know what they're doing)

I'm looking to put a 2008 r2 dc 64bit server into a 2003 r2 32bit forest, I'm still keeping the 2003 r2 domain as the PDC. Do I still do the above steps, even though I m staying at 2003 r2 level? no problem with forest prep is 32/64 bit system? DO I get to play with things like gpp when forest /prep done or do I have to wait till I bring all dc servers up to 2008 r2 level? -
