Hi mm3, Short answer, yes you will. However to discuss the specifics of your situation you would be best speaking to a Promethean reseller, as they will be able to give you the best advice. Thanks

Active Primary Pen menu keeps disappearing
phillyrovers replied to luke_'s topic in Promethean Direct Support
Hi luke_, Sounds like the teachers profile has gone a little "funny". I would advise that this is deleted. To do this: Close ActivInspire Delete the following folder: C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Documents\Activ Software\ActivInspire\My Resources\My Profiles The restart Inspire, these files will be re-created. Thanks- 4 replies

Activ Inspire Embedded Flash blank
phillyrovers replied to Jambo_C's topic in Promethean Direct Support
Glad you are sorted Not sure what would of caused it, but at least it's fixed -
Hi BlueScreen, Thank you for your post. I need to ask a couple of very basic question first in order that I can look at replicating on our panels here: 1. Which panel size do you have? 2. How are the computers in the first issue connected, via HDMI or VGA? The second issue you have mentioned was an old issue that has been fixed in a firmware update. Details of which are available from our support teams. Thank you

Does Classflow work on Learnpads?
phillyrovers replied to ToyHeartsFan's topic in Promethean Direct Support
Hi ToyHeartsFan, Apologies for not responding to this sooner, it appears we didn't get a notification for the new post. Anyway, in regards to your issue, theoretically any device with an internet connection and a web browser SHOULD work with ClassFlow. Now I do not know if "we" have been in contact with Learnpad about this problem, but what I can say from the very quick research I have done on LEarnPad, is that there appears to be some Web Filtering which is built onto the device itself. If there is a way of configuring this web filter you would need to allow the following: classflow.com collaboration.classflow.com prod-collab.classflow.com and classflow.com/student Let us know how you get on so that we can work with you on this one and figure this one out. Thanks -
Thanks @DJ-1701, I could of explained even further but chose not to. The reason that we no longer have MSI's using BitRock, is because BitRock do not allow us to create MSI's from within their installer technology. The uninstall command string string would be: uninstaller path and file name --mode unattended e.g: C:\Program Files\Activ Software\ActivDriver\uninstall.exe --mode unattended Thanks

Activ Inspire Embedded Flash blank
phillyrovers replied to Jambo_C's topic in Promethean Direct Support
Hi Jambo_C, I assume that a flash update has pushed out and potentially has gone wrong. I would start with uninstalling ALL versions of Flash that are on the computer (there could be multiple), reboot, then re-download and reinstall the NPAPI Flash that ActivInspire uses. If that doesn't work I would contact Promethean support with an example flipchart and let them take a closer look at it. Thanks -
Hi All, Thank you for your feedback. To clarify the situation. ActivDriver as mentioned above uses BitRock installation technology, rather than using Microsoft's installer technology. This allows us to create cross platform, cross operating system installers, and will allow us to deploy fixes and updates quicker than we currently do, when an update is required. We will be moving all of our software installations to BitRock at some point in the future. ActivDriver was the first. So the issue of having ActivInspire with MSI, and ActivDriver with .exe is only a temporary "thing". The command to install ActivDriver silently and without user interaction is docuemented here: https://support.prometheanworld.com/article/?kb=How-do-I-install-ActivDriver-over-my-network We have been looking at various installer technologies, and ActivEngage 2 was released using NullSoft installer technology. BitRock is the one that we are moving to. Thank you

ActivPanel 55" HP Elitedesk Booting issues
phillyrovers replied to jon_nais's topic in Promethean Direct Support
Hi Jon, This is not an issue we have seen before, could you log a case with our support team so that they can investigate further? I suspect that they may want to call you directly to understand everything in the classroom included system information from the PC and get some additional panel information. Thanks -
wireless upgrade packs - numbers
phillyrovers replied to jon_nais's topic in Promethean Direct Support
Hi Jon, There will be no reason why this wouldn't work. We use patented technology that allows the communication links to "channel hop" seamlessly, and to always keep a connection. The Help article we have that explains the ActivAir technology is below: https://support.prometheanworld.com/article/?kb=How-does-the-2-4GHz-ActivHub-and-ActivAir-technology-work It is worth noting that the wireless connection only covers off the connection to the ActivBoard, and does not cover audio.....so Audio cabling will still be required. Thanks -
Hi Alis_Klar, Again, this one is all dependant upon the serial number of the boards and what the best advise would be. It will be worth triple checking that every connection is pushed home fully in particular the power connectors. Shorter cable runs are preferred in that it reduces the risk of any kind of interference from getting into cables potentially causing issues. The USB - Serial adaptor is another beast in itself, and you would need to ensure that you have the correct drivers installed for the adaptor, then tell ActivManager to connect to the COM port that the serial converter has been assigned (its the same as using a direct serial connection in that sense.). Circuit boards ,may be available, but you would need to contact Promethean support with your serial numbers to confirm. Thanks
-
Hi Alis_Klar, The circuit boards for the AC2 (2nd Generation) boards should still be available, if that's the ones you have. If you have AC1 (1st Generation) then the electronics are no longer available. The best way to verify this would be to contact Promethean support with the serial numbers. Thanks

Hi Roughley0, This sounds like it might be an annoying bug that was found in 1.8 of ActivInspire. If this teacher uses pen width 2 instead of 0 (which is what I suspect they are doing), does this make a difference? There is some reason why pen width "1" cannot be introduced. Please let me know if this "fixes" it. Thanks

ActivPanel 55" HP Elitedesk Booting issues
phillyrovers replied to jon_nais's topic in Promethean Direct Support
Hi jon_nais, It would be good to dig a little deeper here. Is it when the display cable is connected only, you are getting the issue, or the USB? If you remove the USB cable and then carry out a restart (so you will still see an image) does the same thing happen? That will allow us to start figuring out what is going on. Thanks -

Laptops wont boot with Promethean ActiveTouch boards....
phillyrovers replied to cmeyer's topic in Promethean Direct Support
Hi cmeyer, I am going to be basing the below on an assumption that you are using the ActivBoard Touch (2 touch or 6 Touch). I think we should start with the "easy" one. Extended desktop. You are right to some extent, on our extended desktop support, the support that we are talking about is around being able to calibrate an ActivBoard Touch when using extended desktop, ActivDriver cannot handle it. It isn't a quick patch to fix either, as there are other considerations to take into account when developing fixes to drivers. The workaround on this one is to use the Windows Tablet PC settings instead of our ActivDriver. So if you setup as you want, head to Control Panel> Tablet PC Settings, you should see a configure button. Click this and follow the on-screen instructions to tell Windows which screen is your "touch" device. Calibration can be carried out from the same window as well. It is worth pointing out that some ActivInspire functions will only function on the Primary screen, so take this into consideration when deciding which screen to make your primary. The locking up on boot issue, is a strange one, and in order that we can remove the "obvious" could you tell me what firmware version is installed on the boards in question? As an additional point, could you tell me how long the USB run is, and whether you are connecting through any wallboxes, faceplates etc? In the BIOS, do you have an option to turn OFF USB checking on boot? I think you should re-log this issue through our support team and see what they can offer. Thanks- 4 replies

actiview software quiet install switches
phillyrovers replied to nathan3388's topic in Promethean Direct Support
Hi WestDarbySchool, Try this link: https://promethean.box.com/s/pufzp2rpxbrzpqn2s0cq9kp1xtb9lw5b Thank you -
Hi jon_nais, As synaesthesia says, this 100% could cause spiking to occur. If the internal windings have become damaged, then the magnetic matrix will not be working correctly, meaning the board thinks the pen is being pressed all over the surface. I would recommend that a new board be purchased, but consider looking at your insurance policy to see if this is covered. Thanks
-
Hi Harry1980, That to me sounds like ActivInspire thinks it might be in "Personal Edition" mode. If you close Inspire and then head to C:\ProgramData\Promethean\ActivInspire on your machine (this is a hidden folder) and see if you see the .inspire_licence.xml file, if you do open it and COPY the licence key inside so that you can re-enter it later. Then DELETE the inspire_licence file. Open Inspire and re-enter the licence information. The shapes should now be available. Thank you

Hi Graham, The colours on that board are not what we would classify as "normal". It might be worth a firmware update, though the worrying aspect is the potential damage caused by the power connector. You will need to contact our support team with the serial number of the board so that they can send you the correct firmware and instructions. Thank you
-
Hi Graham, There are a lot of questions that would help in telling us what is going on. The first is: when you are not touching the board with the pen, what colour is the light at the top left? The answer to this could lead us anywhere, so if you could answer that initially we can start looking at it. Thank you

Activinspire Flipchart Corruption
phillyrovers replied to Churchers's topic in Promethean Direct Support
Hi Churchers, This is going to be a very difficult one difficult one to answer, especially because Promethean don't support Windows 10 at present.....however I think that is a red herring in any case for this. The next questions would be to understand what kind of media the customer is using to transfer the files to the school, have the files been moved to the local drive before opening? do the flipcharts still open ok on the Windows 10 machine? Without getting into the real nitty gritty of the machines and exact circumstances of what is happening, it is going to be difficult to determine where the fault is occurring. It might be best to contact our support team and see if they can offer any advice. Thank you -
Hi Ripleys, DangPro's troubleshooting step above is a good one to test. Though the blinking power LED and then going solid red tells us that the unit has gone into a normal power down routine, like it has received a Power Off Infra-Red command. You don't have Infra-Red devices that have been introduced recently that could be affecting the Infra-Red input? Another question would be whether the fans are running at the time the light is flashing. Another possibility is whether the lamp is on its way out as well, the orientation of the projector will have an affect on this, which I will explain below: Within the projector lamp there are 2 cathodes, which when electricity is passed through them cause an Arc, which ignites the gasses in the lamp to produce the white light. Over time the cathodes start to get further and further apart and the chances of a lamp not striking, or going off during use increases. Gravity has an affect on the cathodes when the unit is upside down (i.e. installed in the normal position) in that it pulls the cathodes further apart than when the unit is sat on a desk, in particular when the lamp has really warmed up. Which is why when the unit is on your desk it may well function correctly and when the unit has cooled when installed on the arm for around 20 minutes. I would suggest trying a new or known working lamp into the units as well and seeing what happens )
-
Hi Ripleys, This line intrigues me: "When I have the board pulled down when I'm installing the projector, it'll stay on for a while until I pull it back up" I have a thought as to what is happening, but I need to know what the power light on the projector is doing when the unit has gone off.....is it off, solid red, or flashing red? The 3 states above mean very different things, so knowing what that power has done when the unit has gone off would be VERY useful. Thank you
