@chrisgreenwood, Though we haven't tested these steps formally, the below was given to us by a customer who wanted to use InTune to install ActivInspire: 1. Network installation of ActivInspire Use the official Promethean installer to install ActivInspire in network mode. This installation creates 3 different files: One for ActivInspire. One for Base Resources. One for Help. Each installation should be separated and placed in a different folder, as they must be installed individually. 2. Using the IntuneWinAppUtil tool: Microsoft Guide If you're not familiar with how to use IntuneWinAppUtil, follow the guide provided by Microsoft. When running IntuneWinAppUtil, follow these steps: Source folder: Select the folder where the official installer has downloaded the files (each installation in its own folder). Example: D:\Downloads\Intune\Activinspiremsi\source Source file: Select the .msi file corresponding to the installation you want to deploy (e.g., ActivInspire.msi for the main installation). Output folder: Choose the location where you want the .intunewin file to be created. Example: D:\Downloads\Intune\Activinspire msi\output Catalog folder: Choose N. Repeat this step for each MSI file (ActivInspire, Base Resources, Help) if you need to deploy all of them via Intune. 3. Create the Win32 app in Intune (1 app per .intunewin file) Go to Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune), then navigate to Apps > All apps and click Add. Select Windows app (Win32). Then, you will be prompted to upload the .intunewin file you created in the previous step. Select it, then click Next. 4. Application Information For the publisher, enter Promethean. Click Next. 5. Configure the program In the Program section, you can choose to disable uninstallation by setting "Uninstall available" to No. Click Next. 6. Configure the requirements Under Requirements: Device architecture: Select 64-bit. Minimum operating system: Select Windows 10 1607. Click Next. 7. Configure detection rules Go to Detection rules: Select Manually configure detection rules. Click Add. For Rule type, select MSI. The product ID will be automatically filled based on the MSI file. Click Next. 8. Leave "Dependencies" and "Supersedence" sections empty You don't need to configure anything in these sections. Click Next each time. 9. Assign the application In Assignments, choose the group of devices to which you want to deploy the application. Click Next, then Create to finalize the deployment. Bonus: For ActivDriver, follow the same steps You can follow the same process to deploy ActivDriver via Intune. Here’s an example of what you should have :

Promethean Registration Portal - Sign In Issues
phillyrovers replied to speckledegg's topic in Promethean Direct Support
Hi @anselmtech, We are having a wider issue with teh registration portal that is being worked on. We do not yet have a timeline for a fix, however, rest assured any applicable warranties will be honoured should a need arise. Thanks -
Are Chromebooks compatible with ActivInspire?
phillyrovers replied to craigGIS's topic in Promethean Direct Support
This needs splitting into 2 questions: 1. Can Classflow be used as an alternative for ActivInspire on a ChromeOS. Classflow would be the teachers best alternative for ActivInspire, as ClassFlow can import .flipchart files and still be used interactively. 2. Can an older 378Pro ActivBord work on a ChromeOS - This one would depend on the firmware version installed on the board, it will have to be the HID version as ChromeOS does not allow the installation of of third party drivers the ActivBoard will need to be triggered into HID mode via the firmware installation. This is also a completely untested and unsupported scenario, so if it does not work there is nothing Promethean can do to rectify it as those older ActivBoards where never designed to work on ChromeOS. The post referenced above is only for ActivBoard Touch, which are support in chromeOS, your ActivBoard is even older than that though hence why it may not work.- 5 replies

Couple of points here you don't 'need' an activation code to contact Promethean, you have never needed one. Contact us through our support pages with the serial number of the ActivPanel and our team will take care of it. No reseller involvement needed. Registering gives your panel some uplifted warranty, however given that it is an AP9 it will be will within the warranty anyway. So contact the support team as DangPro suggests and you will get sorted.

It will be better to report this into Promethean Technical support, however.....here are some things to think about: The freeze function on ActivPanels only works when there is an 'active' source connected....so if the computer turns the display off (for power management purposes) then the screen will unfreeze. Additionally - PowerPoint takes full control over graphics in Windows and when you exit presentation mode it will briefly cut the displayed signal whilst it hands control back over to Windows....the freeze will drop if that happens. (to avoid that one yo unsold ensure the ActivPAnel is turned on and showing the computer image prior to starting powerpoint and presentation mode). Whilst it may appear 'random' it really won't be, there will be a trigger for it.

ActivPanels don't touch running Jolly Phonics
phillyrovers replied to gerardsweeney's topic in Promethean Direct Support
Hi gerardsweeney, Without me getting a look at the actual activities they post I will be unable to verify what IM about to say, but I highly suspect that the developers of that website have NOT configured the website to listen for 'touch' events. An AB2 board is essentially another mouse, and it reports into Windows as a mouse. A ActivPanel is a touch device and reports its touch inputs as touch inputs (Windows has the capability to handle each type of input differently). Depending on the type of ActivPanel you have you may be able to switch the 'pen' (which would default as another type of input (stylus), to be a 'mouse' using ActivManager. But the core of the issue is likely that the developers of the website need to include 'touch' inputs. So I suso -
ActivDriver BSODs on 2nd Gen boards
phillyrovers replied to Garacesh's topic in Promethean Direct Support
The higher firmware you mention will be the ActivArena firmware, which allowed the older boards to use 'dual pens' There should be an article on the support site for ActivArena somewhere. This one will cover it: https://support.prometheanworld.com/article/1030/ Enforce signature is when the driver is installed AND run...so its actually both You will need to have driver enforcement off with those older 'AC2' ActivBoards for the unsupported driver to work. The only way to stop the BSOD from happening with those older boards is to use that unsupported driver. You're not coming across as argumentative at all. I get its frustrating, but there is literally no fix that Promethean can supply. We got lucky that we could supply an unsupported driver. -
ActivDriver BSODs on 2nd Gen boards
phillyrovers replied to Garacesh's topic in Promethean Direct Support
It has to be off to work. The modification made in that driver means it needs re-certifying. Which is literally impossible to achieve (again explained in the community article) Driver signature enforcement is turned off permanently if secure boot is disabled in the BIOS. The ‘F7’ method only turns it off for that reboot only. To get any firmware back to whatever version you want it on you will need a connection to ActivManager (preferably the unsupported with signature enforcement off - and then you can change it as needed (assuming it’s a direct USB connection). If you’re struggling you would be best contacting Promethean Support who should be able to guide you. -
ActivDriver BSODs on 2nd Gen boards
phillyrovers replied to Garacesh's topic in Promethean Direct Support
Use the unsupported driver. To get this driver to initialise correctly you either have to turn off secure boot, or find a way to permanently turn off driver signature enforcement in Windows....like the article states This 'may' help to achieve that: https://winaero.com/disable-driver-signature-enforcement-permanently-in-windows-10/ -
ActiveInspire closing or crashing
phillyrovers replied to Jobos's topic in Promethean Direct Support
Hi All, I will repeat here what we have posted on the community thread this morning: To aid us with our investigations into this, please can you all carry out the below: Wait for ActivInspire to close suddenly DO NOT RE-OPEN ACTIVINSPIRE Navigate to c:\Users\ %username%\ AppData\ Roaming\ Promethean\ ActivInspire\ crashDumps Copy any files you see in this folder to another folder. Navigate to c:\Users\ %username%\ AppData\ Roaming\ Promethean\ ActivInspire\ crashDumpsOffline Copy any files you see in this folder to the same folder as point 4. Send the crash reports you have found, and a copy of the flipchart that was being used into Promethean Technical Support, ensuring that you reference this thread when submitting your case. If you require an older version installer, please also request this when sending us the crash reports. There are a ton of variables with ActivInspire, and not all of the crashing may be being caused by the same thing, only with these crash reports will we be able t pinpoint code faults, and rectify them. Thanks -
ActiveInspire closing or crashing
phillyrovers replied to Jobos's topic in Promethean Direct Support
Hi Jobos, We have a seen a small increase of crashing within ActivInspire, however there is nothing 'concrete' and we have not been able to replicate any specific steps that a user can use to cause a crash. Do you have any specific steps that you or your teachers are following that would assist us in finding some replication steps? I would highly recommend that you contact Promethean through the support pages detailing as much information as you can provide. Contact-2 | Promethean Support (prometheanworld.com) Thanks -
Older boards with Windows 10 1909
phillyrovers replied to garethEds's topic in Promethean Direct Support
Hi Gareth, I highly suspect that your boards are 'serial' connected, (Even if it is through a Serial-USB converter) given the firmware versions. Do you happen to know if the version has a 'v' or a 'T' before it? e.g. T2.63? When you say they simply do not work, what actually happens? - Do you get a connection within ActivManager or not? You may also want to take a look at our support forums for issues seen with Blue Screen crashes with older boards and Windows 10, and the access to an unsupported driver (which will need secure boot and or driver signature enforcement turning off): https://community.prometheanworld.com/forums/topic/update-to-1st-generation-2nd-generation-ab100-ab300-ab500-bsod-windows-10-1903/ I would recommend you contact Promethean Technical Support via: https://support.prometheanworld.com/ and send the team an email with the full setup details (cabling converters etc) and they will advise the best course of action. Thanks -
ActivInspire & Java Runtime
phillyrovers replied to gerardsweeney's topic in Promethean Direct Support
Hi @Arthur, There are ways of changing the registry to get ActivInspire to work with various Java versions, but as Promethean technical support we cannot formally endorse this as a"solution"....ultimately ActivInspire needs to chnage to reflect the changes in not just Java, but also Flash, which is being depreciated in 2020 as well. The fact that ActivInspire works with Amazon's Corretto is a good bit of information, and is one that I will take to take to the product team for formal testing....as that would then probably lead to questions around distribution and licencing, especially on the large scale ActivInspire user base. @gerardsweeney, Yuu have actually had an email from me this morning on this, basically, the product team still have this on their radar, but are currently working on a 2.15 update, which has some major changes included with it (but not yet Java/ Flash), once that is out the door, the conversations can start around Java and Flash. You are happy to try Corretto if you want, as that may be a solution for you, though please let us know if it works, as again, it will be useful for the product team. Thanks -
Hi @Ozone, In this instance I would contact Promethean's technical support team via: https://support.prometheanworld.com/contact Thanks

ClassFlow and Google Team Drives
phillyrovers replied to DavidYoung's topic in Promethean Direct Support
Hi @DavidYoung, I am unsure if Team Drive is on the product road-map for ClassFlow. However I have raised this as an enhancement request with the product teams for them to consider in a future update/ version. Thanks -
Hi @F_admin, I would highly recommend that you contact the support team in this instance. It appears that something is becoming corrupt over time. Thanks
-
Hi @stevenramsden I can see from our support systems that you have already engaged the Promethean Technical Support teams, who are working with you directly on understanding what has happened to your specific devices, to get them back to a working state. For further information about Promethean and accessing the Google Play Store, please ask any questions to the support team dealing with your query.

Hi Gordon, That sounds like it may be 2 issues. The panel switching off after 10 minutes, may just be a simple settings change within the menu (there are settings for auto-shut down, make sure that they are turned off), it could also be power management on the PC turning off the external monitors after 10 minutes as well. The shadow you mention sounds like it may be a backlight failure. I would highly recommend that you you contact Promethean technical support with some images showing the shadow you discuss (take a photograph when the panel is showing a white background). Thanks

ActivInspire & Java Runtime
phillyrovers replied to gerardsweeney's topic in Promethean Direct Support
Hi @geradsweeney, This question is one that will be best fired to the Promethean support team. There is no way of changing what type of Java the equation editor uses (the equation editor is the only component of ActivInspire that uses Java), that is likely going to require some development work, or a total re-write of the equation editor. If you fire this at the support team they will be able to route it to the relevant teams to be passed to the ActivInspire product managers. Thanks -
Hi Gordon, Just out of interest do you have the boot priority on the computer to 'USB' first? - It could well be that the computer is attempting to boot its OS from the board. I would also see if you have any options for USB 3 in the BIOS, and turn them off. I would also highly recommend that you get the ActivBoard firmware updated to the very latest available (at least 8.09). (you would need to contact Promethean technical support to ensure you get the correct file. You don't happen to be using something called 'Zenworks' do you? That should be a good starting point. Thanks

Hi @snagrat, In this instance, and if you need roaming profiles setup. You need to tell ActivInspire where you are redirecting to via an admin.ini: https://support.prometheanworld.com/article/?kb=1123 Specifically key 12. You should use the server UNC path and $ wildcards for the username and it should work for all user if you push it out for all users. If you need further help contact support and they’ll help you. Thanks
-
Hi @snagrat, I can see you have specifically mentioned machines that are connected to ActivBoards....do the same machines start ActivInspire successfully when they are not connected to the ActivBoards? When the splash screen comes up do you notice if the flame fill sup or not? - If it doesn't, then it's likely to be a flash problem, uninstall flash and see if inspire opens without it. (you may well get a flash error when you open it, but it will open). If it does, then crashes, its a files issue: Delete this folder and see what happen: C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Promethean It could also be a combination of both of the above, so do both and see what happens If you are still struggling I would recommend you contact Promethean Tech Support for them to look at this one. Thanks

Hi @chekmate1984, I doubt that its the panel causing the issue. It's more likely that the computer thinks that the "touch input" is you wanting to lock the screen. There is a thread from HP here that describes this exact issue with other touch screens: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Video-Display-and-Touch/Touch-screen-issues-goes-to-lock-screen/td-p/6381852 and another with Surface Pro5: https://superuser.com/questions/1259289/surface-pro5-locks-when-i-use-touch-screen-or-pen I'm not sure if your machines are HP, but it appears that some chipset updates might have done the trick here. If you go through your power settings and turn any otion that might lock the screen to off and see if that clears it up as well. Thanks

Hi @gmiller, Apologies for the delay in responding to this, I've been waiting on some information internally. The Connection ID box will only appear when the user has access to the following servers: Promethean.api.splashtop.com:443 Promethean-wbs.relay.splashtop.com:443 Promethean-turn.relay.splahstop.com:443 If you could whitelist/ allow these for your standard users and let us know what happens I would appreciate it. Thanks
