Not this time, there was a wicked rainstorm last year which flooded areas of the school. Closed for the day, pupils were sent home, staff had to remain of course

Indeed, my thoughts precisely. Nevertheless, they still show them, as an example, one of the films is Hollowman. Now ok...its a very tame 18, probably more of a 15 film I would say (maybe even a 12 these days), but point is that it carries an 18 certificate. I guess they figure that its near the end of term, and they dont care what the students watch as long as it keeps them quiet and doesnt have the kids creating hassle for the day

If you right click on your ISA list under URL sets in Network Objects, there is the option to "export selected". That exports it as an xml file. Thats how we do it because we have over 10,000 sites on there, including something like 400 proxy sites and I am buggered if I am typing those all in again

Sure thing. The 2 gifs which seem to be missing from my directory are small_tick.gif (wish I could remember where the hell I saw this now, I will have to hunt around and find out where I saw the missing icon) and calendar.gif (on the add new announcement page, seems to be looking for calendar.gif, I think it should be asking for the icon_event.gif) The issue regarding 64bit was that the MySQL ODBC connector (3.51.16) doesnt work in 64 with IIS running in 64bit mode. According to MySQL this will be corrected in release 3.51.17, in the meantime though, I had no trouble running the helpdesk when I switched the IIS back into 32bit mode. So for now I will run IIS in 32bit until the next release of the connector. (to switch IIS back into 32bit mode , go to Run and type> cscript %SYSTEMDRIVE%\inetpub\adminscripts\adsutil.vbs SET W3SVC/AppPools/Enable32bitAppOnWin64 1 Swap the 1 for a 0 if you need to switch IIS back into 64bit)

Loving it, got it all installed. It whined abit about the connector not working in 64bit windows, but got round that. I seem to have some gifs missing (small_tick and calendar), and the blue footer bar on some pages seems to move from the bottom to half way up, but all easily corrected. Will definately be replacing our existing Liberum setup with this one.

Oddly enough, its at this time that we start to wind down to a degree. We have loads to do over the summer break (we are in all the way through the breaks), and when we are nearing the summer break we tend to start slowing right down and only doing really quick jobs. Everything else we just put off til the summer break now

Yeah, all our internet access goes via the same LEA proxy, we just stuck an ISA server in and had the staff group policy give them the LEA proxy direct for internet access, and the student group policy give them our ISA server before going out to the LEA proxy That way we are able to control student access to sites seperately to the staffs whilst both are essentially using the same LEA access. Having said that, if the LEA is telling you to block it for everyone, thats a touch more awkward. Always iffy going against the LEA !

Is it via the web-based email? If so, can you not just block those sites for the students and leave it open for staff (essentially what we have)

Hehe, I must admit, the temptation to have a server called BloodyStupidJohnson is pretty strong yeah, Vasquez would be our newest and sexiest server, Burke would be our ISA server that watches communication traffic, then falls over when the going gets rough and Hicks would be our NAS server, which sits around looking good but doesnt really do all that much

During the summer, along with the other work we have to do, we are planning to rename all our servers to something a little more uniform. In total, to allow for any future expansion we are looking for 20 names. Just wondering what everyone is using for their names at the moment, and if anyone has suggestions. At the moment we are considering characters from the film Aliens, so...Apone, Hicks, Hudson, Ripley, Bishop etc etc.

Instead of a Male v Female thread, we should have a Male + Female thread....now that would really be worth escaping my cage for !!!!

Ahh I see, was going to say we had a similar problem with our curriculum IPs recently, we adjusted the scope from 10.200.1.x to include 10.200.2.x giving ourselves a wodge more IPs. But thats no use to you if someone else is nicking the IPs
