I am not aware that there is web interface with ArcServe Backup 16.5 SP1. The same issue occurs if I remote onto server 1 with remote desktop and connect to Server 2 through the backup manager interface....so it doesn't appear to be workstation specific as the issue occurs even server to server.

We have the same issue - disabled all accessibility options but still manage to black the login boxes! Kids kind of get used to it, and just end up re-imaging the pc if it's an issue!

Hi All Having spent an hour on the phone to Arcserve to diagnose an issue I still don't think they understand my issue! I have 2 Arcserve Servers Server 1 - Arcserve 16.5 SP1 HP LTO 4 Drive. Server 2 - Arcserve 16.5 SP1 HP LTO 6 Drive. Each day I remote desktop on to each server and modify the backup job for the new media (Daily Tape Change). I have installed the Arcserve manager software onto my workstation (Windows 8.1) and added both Server 1 and Server 2 to the console so I can manage all from one location. Here's the issue: When I connect from my workstation to Server 1 - I can modify the daily job, it see's the tape drive and media name which I can select. However, when I connect from my workstation to Server 2 - When i modify the job, the tap drive comes up with a red X but stills shows as running and I cannot select the media for the backup. However, if i right click the daily job and RUN Now it runs the backup, but cannot change the media, so it is communicating. I need to know why when connecting to Server 2 it won't pick up the drive....only difference is LTO drive versions. Arcserve support tell me it's because in device manager on my workstation the tape drive doesn't show but it won't as there is not physical drive attached to my PC! That also doesn't explain why I can connect to 1 server and see the drive, and not the other! Any help would be appreciated if any of you people use Arcserve?! Thanks in advance.!

I assume you have tried a reinstall of both chrome and adobe? I've just checked our install in CS4 and CS6 and it shows the browsers. I quite like dreamweaver having used at college too. Our IT staff used Serif WebPlus at one point and I thought that it was worse than the adobe!

Only Dell hardware I have is one PowerEdge R515 server which I inherited from a merge. It's been the worst server with multiple drive failures! All others are HP and network backbone and wireless are D-Link. Personal preference but never been a dell fan as had issues with their laptops years ago which even the dell engineer being on-site couldn't resolve! Turned out to be a particular model WLAN card that wasn't compatible with our wireless having bought 60 dell laptops!

Ours were either because the air con couldn't cope with the heat demand in the summer or blocked drainage. Came back in after 2 weeks off one summer when found the leak! we were lucky.

We have 200 staff, 1200 students, 1100 pc's 50 BYOD devices, We're in the process of moving to Censornet and it cost us around £6300 pounds including mail filtering this was for 1 year just to trial. Web filter is based on concurrent connections and we went for 700. Web filtering is local VM (installed from ISO) and allows blocking, whitelisting sites etc. As for the mail, mx records are pointed to cloud service which filters the mail then forwards to local exchange server. Again there is a URL to visit to edit email rules and you get end user notifications of emails blocked which can be released etc....

We do this - students can only receive from Staff email accounts (no external) and some mail groups such as All Staff are locked down so only certain staff can email the group/ You can change delivery restrictions for multiple users through powershell either by OU or database.

One of our server rooms is on a single floor building, the other on the ground floor of another building. One houses a rackmount cabinet which the floor flooded twice due to the air-con. The other one also had an air-con leak, went all over the desking but luckily shorted nothing out and didn't get to the floor although they too are about 4 inches off the floor,

Since upgrading our printing solution to MFPs we discarded the fax feature. Prior to that we only received faxes and maybe sent 10 a year so just scrapped it.

I had a project 3 summers ago and only 6 weeks to do the following as things had to remain as was until the holidays: Merge 2 independent schools networks together - our backbone was 10gig fibre , theirs was 1gig copper so their half was upgraded. Set up a new domain for the 2 single domains to be migrated to 1 new one. Do layer 3 routing to migrate data/users over to the new network domain as both schools next to each other so 10gig link was installed between the 2 original server rooms for easy data migration. Install and configure a new VOIP system on VLAN. re-image 1000 pc's and join to the new domain. Install Cat5e cabling for a new 30 PC IT suite. All good fun! Wasn't a dull moment for those 6 weeks as well as taking 2 weeks annual leave so that left 4 weeks to do the above!

I've just been advised "You do not need to purchase Exchange CALS as they come in the Core CAL Suite which is part of the DesktopEdu package" so just for reference if anyone else if needing to renew.

Hello In the complex world of Microsoft Licensing, I was wondering if someone could help me out as get different responses from resellers. We are on the EES licensing, so license for our FTE. For Exchange Standard, do we require CALS even for Outlook Web Access, and I assume that if we are only using the RemoteApp part of the Remote desktop services we only have to buy RDS cals for the FTE count? For SQL, we purchase by server, then CALS, which again I assume we only need to buy based on FTE number? Any advice would be great. Thanks.

Yes, same 300GB 10K drives in both servers - the one with the slowest transfer speed is running in RAID 10 array, the fastest server can be to just a single drive and getting the full gig speed!

Both servers are on same BIOS version, NICs are on same firmware version (downloaded and re-flashed) both systems. Swapped switch connections over too. Run out of ideas hence why here!

I have 2 ML350 G6 servers and when transferring files from PC to each server both give different transfer speeds. I've cross checked all OS and NIC settings/drivers but get the following Only difference between the 2 models are processor and RAM. Server 1 Intel E5504 CPU with 12 GB RAM - 1 onboard NIC connected. - P410i Controller No battery. ISO file transfer from PC to server 1 - 80-100MB/S Server 2 Intel E5520 CPU with 30GB RAM - 1 of the onboard NICs connected P410i with 512MB Cache and Battery. ISO File Transfer from PC to server 2 - 40-50MB/s Both NICs are identical (onboard) and all Settings in the driver properties are exactly the same on both. I've cross swapped network cables with same results but speeds are repeatable to each server. What else could be different and causing the difference in speeds to each physical system?

Do you have multiple DHCP servers for redundancy? None of them issuing IP Addresses? I've had an issue before with a DHCP server deciding not to issue any IP addresses at end of lease, but luckily I had 2 and the second one was taking the load whilst I rebooted the first one then both restored serving addresses.

Oddball, but I've just rebooted the PC twice after installing other software and now it's displaying correctly! Well it was for one user, but the next one I logged on it didn't show! Anyone got the xml start menu policy working reliably?

We're not on O365, but have an exchange server on-site with similar permissions in place. Students cannot email each other but only send/receive from staff. It was done with a simple powershell script at the beginning of the year for new years, and then another script runs daily to change the permission on newly create mailboxes that day.

So i'm playing with the latest build of Windows 10 1511 and customising the start menu. I got it how I wanted with set tiles with Word, excel, etc , exported the XML, placed in sysvol and set the path in a GPO. Logging on as any user and the start menu appears right. Set up a second clean install of windows 10, linked to domain and PC in same OU as base PC, however when users log on I just get the single column with the default APPS. there's no additional tiles with the ones customised in the start menu XML, and don't know why?!

Surely if your bridging a 1GB link and 10GB link, the max speed will always be the slowest link ?

We have a Siemens OpenStage system here. 60 extensions all on VOIP VLAN and Main gateway box is connected to 6x ISDN lines. Only issue we've had it storms taking out the ISDN boxes, luckily only 1 each time out the 3.
