Do you know if your external IP is on a public network or another private network on something like a xGFL? It may be that they are not using NAT on the firewall, and in that instance the "10.10,10.20,10.30" may be in use somewhere else on their network. Hopefully that is not the case and you should be able to get the ISP to add the new networks as static routes on the inside of the firewall. The L3 Switch will need it's DG set to the firewall also. No, he said the server DG is the firewall, if he has not instructed the ISP to update the static routing table on the FW to point at the switch for the other VLANS then it's not going to work unless he moves the DG on the servers to the switch. The switch should then have it's DG as the firewall. However, this only allows the existing servers to contact the new clients. The new clients would not be able to use the internet directly so will need a proxy on the server LAN ( which is hopefully in place anyway.)

So your servers have a default route of the firewall, which has no idea about your new vlans? You need the L3 switch to be the Default route. TT

I bought a core2 due for my old Mac, that's gr8 works a treat. But I also want to up the ram and get onto yosam or elcap. There is a firmware update hack but I just can't get it to work, the machine downloads the f/w updater but after the reboot it goes it update mode but does nothing. Anyone tried it? TT

What are you going to provide? I would steer clear of Mains sockets. The potential for damage that goes unreported and subsequent safety issues should not be disregarded. Also if your providing the CHARGE then someone may also say "Your charger killed my device". You will also have to provide for all sorts of different devices. Quite a lot of larger devices either will not charge from USB or will take hours. Also check with your insurance company about charging non OWNED devices, in the event of a unit causing a fire then who foots the bill. TT

Do you know if the wiring has been checked just for continuity with a Digital meter or with a load attached. Often wiring or mor commonly earth faults may only be found when drawing a real current. TT

Never had an ECU fail they are in general very very reliable. Failures if they do occur are generally down to moisture ingress or electrical spiking due to failed alternators (also generally quite rare). I was told by someone, can't recall who now, that the large majority of ECUs they get sent for repair bench test fine 1st time round. And £350 is 1.2 months PCP on a new 1.0 Focus... TT

I can do almost anything, but do very little myself. But not a lot ever needs doing. The money I save more than covers the cost of any eventuality many times over. I have done 4 jobs on my £300 focus ( 131K ) replacing a rear hub, replacing a front calliper, replacing a window winder, cam cover gasket. My garage probably would have charged 2hrs labour so about £70 + parts supplied by me ~£70 . I enjoyed delving in again! I reckon if you can fix a PC, you can fix a server, if you can fix a server, you can fix a VMware cluster, if you can fix a vmware cluster you can fix a Lynx MK8 helicopter and cars are much simpler than one of them... There is little complicated and there are a mass of model/manufacturer forums with many helpful people. Fault Code Readers are dirt cheap for diagnostics. TT

600's can be very limmiting if you need to run cables into the front. 800's normally have cable cutouts to pass cables in. Even if you don`t think you need it now you may in the future and it will be too late. If it is 100% server then it may not matter. Excel do flatpack Prism are good to, we even managed to get a full size technician in an 22u one and shut the doors on him. Was 800 wide which helped.
