  1. My old place lead the way way in demonstrating how badly a MA Federation ( only 2! ) can be driven into the ground by an overpaid under achieving EXEC... He lasted less than 6 months along with the badly appointed head of one of the Academies. the other badly appointed head managed ~5 years before being expunged. Not sure if he had a chance though as there was a lot of decisions taken to engineer out key people that could have helped make it work. £xxxxxxx wasted ...
  2. I wonder if thats BS1363 stammped? Not sure I would use it myself.. I would just re-terminate the 13A plug.
  3. Never really bothered with OM. Ocasionally think about installing it on ESX but more to do and DRAC does most of what we need. New 730's have NFC for the DRAC too I configured ours from my phone TT
  4. No it means it should be untagged somewhere else... But I can't see where. I hate the way Procurve handles vlan config. It is so messy. TT
  5. Have you just got the one cable to the core in at any one time? Is vlan 140 tagged on the link from the core? Output. Sh vlan 145 Sh int 9 Try on both switches Clear arp Also try shutting dow the ports at each end then bring them back up.

    UPS Sizing

Whatever you do , ensure yo I r incommer is sufficiently rated to handle the startup l pad of all the equipment. I have been in the unfortunate situation where a big professional IT company failed on this more than once. In one case they had a UPS with a requirement of 40A listed on the back, it was plugged into a 16A supply. This only came to light when we asked them to put in another ups and they said there was a spare 16A!! On our other site the ups there was on a 32A circuit and even that tended to trip when the power came back on.
  7. If the CELL had not been such a crap device I would only have spent 2-3 hrs before discovering it was useless. On A corporate Lan it was a PITA. No interface, No Feedback, no log, No Idea what It was trying to do, No Guide for firewalls, no support from Voda. TT
  8. I ....ing hate femtocells . I spent 4 weeks ....ing arround to get a VodaMoan suresignal to connect. then found the ...er only supported 3G and the ......ing phones were not .....ing 3 ..ing G! TT
  9. Whilst on the subject Our system gave an alert for high current usage on one circuit last month? It jumped from 20A load to 30A load in a matter of mins!! on a 32A circuit it was close to tripping!! After looking at all the load sites in the server room I found the circuit was powering something outside the server room. Now our UPS supplies two department floor sockets for PC's/teminals in the event of a power fail unitl the gen-set kicks in... I was a bit confused but jokingly said to the helpdesk manager... "Call center aint rocking any power hungry devices are they, like heaters???" he laughed and said he would check.... Turns out the bloomin well were FFS!!! TT
  10. Our main UPS looks similar to this http://www.itinstock.com/ekmps/shops/itinstock/images/apc-symmetra-px-40kva-3-phase-400v-ups-extended-runtime-48x-batteries-cabinet-%5B3%5D-30957-p.jpg
  11. I am using "Trunk" in the sense that it's got multiple vlans tagged and not an "Access" port I am unclear of what you are trying to achieve from your initial description. It looks like your trying to use 9-10 for the uplink given that it's tagged on all but the default vlan. TT
  12. Probably ARB droplinks. Cheap and easy usually.
  13. Which is the uplink port? You would only TAG a port on a trunk so where are 8,9,10
  14. Yes our switches are on APC or Riello feed PDUs
  15. vlan 1 name "Default" no untagged 1-8 untagged 9-10 no ip address exit vlan 50 name "Voice" tagged 1-10 ip address xx.xx.99.53 255.255.255.0 qos priority 7 exit vlan 100 name "dhg_curric" untagged 1-8 tagged 9-10 ip address xx.xx.202.53 255.255.252.0 ip igmp exit port 7,8,9,10 are not untagged on any access port. there are no untagged ports on the mgmt vlan vlan 140 name "dhg_mgmt" tagged 7,9-10 ip address xx.xx.34.31 255.255.255.0 ip igmp exit vlan TT
  16. why are 9-10 tagged on every vlan ?? what port is the uplink to the core ??? TT
  17. Can you post up the config from the CLI? Sounds like the vlan is only being brought up when activity is seen on 7
  18. Do the ecoboosts need a lot of gear changing ? Despite loving fast cars, turbo ones don't usualy float my boat. ( with the exception of my TwinTurbo 2.9 Sierra) . I prefer either large naturally aspirated or a supercharger, ideally both
  19. Is the vlan tagged between switches?
  20. If I was doing it I would have a fairly minimal spec extra server as a Physical DC running all FSMO rolls. TT
  21. Tesco was the same price with or without a phone for my son.
  22. TBH... I could do vmware in my sleep, and whilst dozing explain to a 1st line tech the principals of creating a server or building an esx machine. Understanding vswitcing and having the backbone to support it is the key to having it working properly. So vmware is an EASY. TT
  23. Sorry not sure why I typed that.. Should have been tried but failed phone activation.. Was stuck , I think I looked at a number of forum threads and came to the conclusion I was fighting a loosing battle.
  24. There are always jobs advertised for CCNA 40K+ in the south of my county.. Quite easily do the work but it's 2hrs away so out of the question. NIX administrators do well also... Never any near me though Never actually done the CCNA exam, but done the coursework more than once. Apply various bits of it regularly to my working life. Apart from doing the server stuff, vmware and citrix, I also manage Procurve, Comware, Fortigate and Cisco Networking and although the command can vary the principles are the same. After CCNA you could do CCNP , or something like CCNA-Voice/Wi-Fi and eventually work up to CCIE and be worth a MINT! TT
  25. I don't think it would activate even if it was networked, I seem to remember trying a few months ago and it failing. So did phone activation IIRC. TT
