After a few weeks of slowly taking my Jag's engine out ( did not want to rush and get dishatrend ) Today was the day for the replacement 4.0 V8 to go in... after getting everything preped in advance, cleaning the bay, cleaning threads, ensuring all nut's and bolts were free.. It took from ~11:30 to get the engine from the trolly on the floor to ~4PM and the stage where I could start her up. Sounded very loud with no exhuast .... Just got that and the rads to refit Picking up a spare parts S-Type tomorrow for £200, it's a nice looking example will be a shame to break it up... TT

Vmware comes in many price plan varieties. Essentials and essentials plus are quite cheap really. VMware is actually very easy to install and get running. (OK I have some experience) our current cluster took 4 Hrs from unboxing 3 R730's to having a 3 node Vmware cluster with Multiple vlaned network. I would use NFS to do Backend Storage on your Eq San... Don't need ISCSI these days, NFS should out perform it without the complexity. TT

Son has been using one for a few months at school. They have a few and today they had a trip to another school to hold a challenge day. Group of young programmers getting to grips with real devices. Yes there is the PI but the MicroBit is designed to be a simple first step, it's next near rival is the Arduino and that requires real understanding of the programming Language. I think it's a great idea just seems to be struggling to get to the users. TT

Having used a number of solutions. For Education and large density I would go with Meru. If you can't afford the cost then expect complaints and expect to regret not going with a high end system. Personally I would avoid running two systems at the same time. Wi-Fi is noisy enough at the best of times and if two not compatible systems are figiting for the air then it's going to give you a poor opinion of the new system. TT P.S.... We have Meraki at our office, if the Meru Quote had landed a couple of weeks earlier then it probably would have got the gig and we are not high density.

I recently bought a I5 4GB Dell E6420 for £100 delivered. I love it, super build and good performance. It's replacing a 10yr old D530 ... and only because that machine is going to my son to replace his D505 which is now just a little slow for what he does... TT

I gave up on relying on virtual servers as the master time reference. We were seeing all sorts of odd time related issues. but we have all sorts wanting time, Windows, Oracle, Linux, Switches, Routers, SANS, NAS, Etc.. We put in two old HP DL360 G5's running NTPD on Ubuntu and Time has been rock solid for 2 years. TT

Sounds like the previous boot may have had a disk error scan aborted and this has been replicated. I would take another replica and boot it off the network and check it now comes up clean. TT

Buy the machine and sell it afterwards. Get a PC capture card and take them straight to PC. I loved BetaMax, At one point I had the Pinnacle in my hands an SL-HF950 awesome, probably the best VCR ever launched int he UK. TT

Is everything blue apart from the PSU LED? Not sure on the 515's but maybee they can be configured as N+1 power, so that only one PSU is active not load sharing. TT

use your phone camera to confirm there is light on the TX side of the module and that this matches at the far end with the dark RX side of the other module.

Not sure why you have the specific issue without being able to review the full DHCP config But if that truly is your client subnet then it's horribly large. I never stray past a /24 even using thin terminals. TT

ISCSI is just a TCP/IP based protocol. More ore less any ethernet switch will support it. TT

The connection is reasonably secure if you use a strong encryption VPN. It's the endpoint and users that you have to worry about. If it's just for yourself then you only have to worry about yourself. But you need to ensure your endpoint is safe.
