I love networking , hate servers (well windows stuff). I have a project on that will span 12 Months (not solid work) migrating and realigning our network. Updating vlans, routing, wan topology, etc, etc.... Out of a department of 20 I am the only one with the knowledge and understanding to implement it. I reckon 8-9 of the department could get a windows server up and running in a couple of hours... TT

Can't see how having an RBC is going to prevent Data Leak. My old place moved out in 2008, 1st of many to dump the RBC. TT

I made the switch just over 2 years ago. Yes we have a number of systems that are mission critical and can't be down & systems that have quirks that can take them off line. We do lots of heavily regulated transactions and operations every second of the day, and a f..k up a 6AM can put the whole day into disarray affecting staff and customers. But we have a good team, good procedures, good systems and change control. So generally we have a happy stress free life.. Very busy though and expected to constantly deliver new services and improvements. Good luck.

How far appart are they geographically. Personally, to do it right you would want SHDS links between sites, if possible do it in a circular rather than star topology and go for 1Gb. I would not use the GFL

you can do it two ways . HA - will start failed guests on the second machine. takes a boot time. Failover - keeps a stand by copy up to date which is instant swithcover. ( does not even drop a ping usualy ) TT

I got a free mimio about 15 years ago, we used it a couple of times but was then forgotten about as the department that had it were limited on space and had no fixed white board. Reasonable idea, am sure they have also improved on it in that time too. I would go with a mix of cheap TV's and Clevers on stands. We found that the TV's were used a lot, and the clevers were used just as displays most of the time.

over the past 17 years I have had Dell and HP, including a C7000 with BL460's For 2U boxes , having used both these vendors extensivly. I would go Dell. ServerSource can do some incredible prices. I would avoid IBM/FUJI/ETC brands and white box stuff would not touch. TT

Hopefully I have given another a chance tonight, found him laying in the road expecting him to be dead but when I went to move him I could hear him breathing although it was raspy. I knocked on a couple of doors and was directed to one house, it was not her cat but she came down. After a while sitting on the pavement with it (one other neighbour though it was his but confirmed at home instead) and calling the RSPCA ( and anincorrect VET as it seem) he was lifting his head and moving a little. So we took it up to the womans vet, they managed to get the owner from the chip so they were on route. Initial assessment was no major skelletal trauma, a bash to the face but no cranial fracture. Could be other hidden injury’s though. Left our numbers with the vet so the owner can hopefully tell us better news. TT TT

Simply. No. The broken pin should be removed from the socket allowing the safety shutters to close, allowing it to remain is a H&S infringement. TT

I can't see straight inserts/removals causing a pin to fracture unless the grab force on the sockets earth pin was unusually very very high. If removal is awkward then it may have been pulled out at an angle.. I suspect many staff would just push it back in and not think about the fact the socket is now unsafe. TT

But will if it's miss handled and that's not the liability of the supplier.

What is the output? I would just find a suitable adapter of the correct voltage and with enough Amps to match or beat the old one ( assume AC output ) and solder the old cable to new and heatshrink. TT

Cloud does not have a silver lining. One of our software vendors wanted us to move to their cloud platform, only 6K per year. What does it cost us to run this in house for the business section? well effectively £0 , as it's one VM out of 100 others and those others provide for other areas of the business to a much greater degree.

it may be referencing the wrong hardware , if "aplay -l" comes back with more than onde device he will need to experiment starting jackd with different hardware id's don't use JACK, it's rare that I ever use sound of any sort. TT

if you have no firewalls, and are using the xGFL IP's then there may be nothing to stop you communicating between each other unhindered, that's how it used to be for a very long time on the xGFL's one big private network .

Upgraded to half leater sports seats from an ST170 at the weekend. £70 for the set , bit of an extravagance but I can remove and resell when i am done.. 500 miles covered in the last 5 days :-)
