  1. Thanks for that, I guess this once i should read the instructions rather than just getting on with it!
  2. We have a mobile version of ClassWatch which consists of a laptop witht the ClassWatch software on it, along with a video camera and USB microphone. The camera is working and recording in the software OK but the microphone device is greyed out so we cant drag it in to the right-hand window to start recording sound. In Device Manager the USB microphone is shown as working OK and if you go in to the Sound applet in Control Panel the microphone is shown as working as when we're talking the level is moving up and down accordingly. Has anyone got the ClassWatch system, if so any ideas why the microphone is greyed out so we cant use it? I've been through all the menus and cant see any option of how to add/remove devices so need some help now please?!
  3. There were no visible marks on the tranfer belt, we even gave it a thorough air-dusting but they still appeared. Fortunately we have one in IT Services so we swapped it over with the one in that and the lines disappeared so problem solved!
  4. I can't believe I didn't check that!
  5. Any ideas what might be causing this to happen on a HP Colour LaserJet 5225n? I've removed the toners and cant see anything on the OPC drums and I've swapped the fuser unit over with one from another printer of the same model and it's still printing these lines at the top of the page.
  6. Unfortunately I didnt have time to take any hardware out of a working computer and swap it with one of the non-working ones and I wont be back on that site for a couple of weeks so I'll give that a go when I'm back there. I've just uploaded a video of it to YouTube so you can see the LEDs going beserk! http://youtu.be/pYgF5dFHU5w
  7. I have a strange hardware issue: Out of a small suite of 8 computers, 3 have just stopped playing ball and won't POST. if you plug the power cable in to one of the three desktops, they automatically come on, the CPU and PSU fans spin up and the optical drives LED comes on briefly as do the power and hard disk LEDs. In fact they flash in some sort of pattern. I've tried disconnecting all the drives and USB ports etc. to see if a faulty component is causing the issue bunt it still does the same thing. Any ideas?
  8. I know it's a bit of an old thread but as no one else has answered I thought I would. STEER CLEAR OF THESE POOR QUALITY PROJECTORS - DO NOT TOUCH WITH A BARGE POLE. There is a reason as are so well priced, on paper they sound great but in reality they are ver dim and are faded around the edges of the display - trust me on this one as we got some of these things and had to uninstall them after just one day of using them and go back to the old ones they were replacing! We even had one of their engineers out who basically agreed with us and told us to steer clear of any of the ABIS LED projectors (including newer models) as they were just as bad. The only ones that they recommened were the ones you have to replace the lamps on every now and then where the TCO works out dearer than the Casio ones so we've gone down the Casio route now
  9. I just installed The Dude the other day on what is now our System Monitoring PC and within a few minutes I was monitoring our 50+ servers! Very quick and easy to install and setup with no messing about.
  10. Correct me if I'm wrong, doesn't a school have a Duty of Care to their pupils (who are children after all) and having unfiltered internet connection would give them access to unsolicited access to pornography. Even the most innocent search in Google can bring inappropriate websites up. Try turning off your monitoring & filtering and see how many days it takes until the Police pay a visit - not forgetting the solicitors letters from the pupils parents. We could start a sweepstake - I'd give it 36hrs after you turn it off when the pupils are back in September...
  11. I use a FireFox plugin called DownloadHelper - I just click on a button and it saves the swf file on screen to an MPEG4 file.
  12. This happened well over a year ago so I would hope their procedures have changed somewhat by now.
  13. Who's Frazza?! Visio and Dia pretty much use industry standard symbols and shapes if your teacher doesn't want to prepare your pupils/students for the real world and wants to make up their own then they'll have to draw them themselves. If this is the route they insist on going down then Microsoft publisher is probably your answer. You could create a template that is read only that contains all the shapes they need. You can draw each shape out of individual lines and circles and then select them all and group them together so they then behave as one single shape you can easily move around. Hope that helps!
  14. You could try Dia and see if that does what you need - it's basically an open sourcer alternative to visio: Dia a drawing program
  15. Where's the Start menu?! You're support email/telephone would be overloaded!!
  16. The reason people that are rich and famous get freebies is so that the company giving them the gift gets free publicity.
  17. BBC news and pointless games on FaceBook just to destress and relax.
  18. Why thank you! Honesty is always the best policy. I've always enjoyed working in Education and can't wait to get stuck in - 5 days, 3 hours and 50 minutes to go (not that I'm counting or marking of a calendar each and every day)...
  19. That would be a better idea I think as then it can be viewed on any phone and not just limiting it to an iPhone.
  20. That's what they all say!
  21. This happened the last time. Try again later, in a week or two and demand will have settled down. Perhaps they should get some Dell or IBM servers that can handle the demand...
  22. You normally get 3 days from the actual installation before it reports that it needs activating. If you are using a Volume Licensing version of W7 then enter a key that you had, the sysprep process will remove the key when you run it.
  23. If you're purchasing more than 5 Lenovo computers from a reseller, ask them to ask Lenovo for some special bid prices as if you're after 25 Lenovo themselves will normally do a bulk buy deal via a reseller. I've done this in the past with Insight and got a good deal.
  24. Hello and welcome! I'm fairly new to the forum myself and have found it to be a very friendly and helpful place to be a member of.

Microsoft provide such a tool called locksmith: ERD Commander in MSDaRT 6.5 I believe there are also a few Linux based tools that can do this too.
