The annotation on any source was probably one of the best features! Just waiting on deliver of 2 V10s will report back as well when we get them installed.

We don’t use action1 but we add a 3hr restart timer on SCCM and it reduced the moans by 99% and every day has 3 maintenance windows morning, lunch and afterschool. enforcement windows are different between laptops and desktops. Laptops deadline is 2 days as they are likely to go offsite for long periods and be subject to riskier behaviours desktops are 5 days.

Its generally pretty solid and their support team are pretty good. Works well with our cashless catering system that manages the cards and imports them into net2 via the net2 API. We also have Live Register integration for AM roll call. It has its quirks but usually during upgrades. I have 14 years experience with Net2 and its only really had issues during upgrades or the odd power cut on the odd door here or there. My advice if you go with it manage your IP addresses through DHCP and assigned them before your turn them on for the 1st time. Installers also like to cut corners make sure they install the backup battery on critical doors. Also Mav only found out about the issue he was having with malformed packets due to him doing a security scan on them so just exclude the doors from any such system.

There was system maintenance over the weekend my guess is resources aren't spooling up fast enough to meet demand as schools return.

Coronavirus: General discussion (see opening post for rules)
gaz350b replied to Dos_Box's topic in General Chat
@Ditto its been a large park of our Cover reducing/sickness management for over 15 years that we get a free Flu jab. prior to covid a company used to come in and do it on site which was great. Now we just get a voucher and book a slot at boots. -
Perhaps have a demo of SOCS is a larger platform, we've only just started to schedule lessons so see what you think. SOCS

Im just guessing but if you are wondering why it’s been designed like this The 10.13 network smells like an ip range used in the embc network range back in the olden days! and the new ranges were used to expand the amount of IPs available.

If you want any 3rd parties integrated you will need an onsite connector where they put sims client with a vpn back to the cloud.

The problem with using AI tools to mark work how are teachers going to really understand and connect with students based upon the work they are producing and students really showing they understand a topic. there needs to be a lot of thought to how the tools can complement current practice and not replace it. For example I could see it used as a coaching tool for students and staff to improve their writing and understanding of work. student produces work, AI feedback given. Make a revision and then presents to teacher their understanding of what they have produced. AI as a moderation tool reviewing large pieces of work across an entire year group and checking for fair marking would be good use and give large amounts of time back.

Educational cutbacks following latest govt announcement
gaz350b replied to C3PO's topic in MIS Systems
I actually think if you related it per student it would be better as each student comes with money. We need an extra 30 students in the school over the next 5 years to cover our printing costs would be much more powerful. -
Educational cutbacks following latest govt announcement
gaz350b replied to C3PO's topic in MIS Systems
I'm going to go against the grain a little and say if you can get your printing under control its actually a cost effective learning tool but it has to be done right and I also realise every schools layout is going to bring its own challenges to how you approach printing. We are fairly lucky that our school is based around classrooms with a resource area so deploying a solution around MFDs is easy (with an ID Card system in place). We reduced access to Colour copying for staff - only team leaders and above have colour copying access but all staff can still print colour. if staff want colour copies they have to go through either repro or Team Leaders. Team Leaders get a weekly email with their teams printing summary (most seem to keep an eye on this and raise concerns with their teams if one is blowing the budget). We have 2 virtual queues for staff and students - Mono and colour, Mono is always the default printer. Give students access to free Mono printing on their print credits but keep their monthly printing top-up as low as possible. for example our year 7 only get 10p a month to accommodate final work. Reducing Colour printing for students is a quick win. Also apply restrictions such as max copies and max page counts (educate staff and students what these restrictions are). Remove as many small personal printers as possible. If you can get this down to just Senior Leaders you have done as much as you probably can. -
Smoothwall - Obvious false positives
gaz350b replied to synaesthesia's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
its actually the best way apologies for it coming across rude. Reason why I said what I said was its going to improve the product for us all if everyone created a support ticket for these "overblocking" alerts. -

create a smooth wall support ticket. -
Wish we had 12 months notice when progresso got shutdown! If your data is in a good state any move should be painless. If it’s a mess get people cleaning it up asap.

Are you doing any cashless catering? I assume not if not why not just pre-emp that as a future move get cashless catering system in to do all the integration and then do the cashless catering part at a later date. a lot of systems will just dump their ID Card number into AD. then something like papercut on the printing side pulls that card number into papercut.

The problem is when the tab goes into “sleep”it will disconnect you from sims connected.

I would also check browser energy settings are configured not to sleep sims sites.

What's the ultimate goal and reason you are trying to work out usage?

Flip this back on your own helpdesk management. The helpdesk is likely its own unit and engineering teams are separate. I would understand your frustrations more if it was closed, If you had to wait on on finance teams to send an order to get a replacement part. Should your team be penalised on other teams/3rd parties performance? But as Fazza mentions its all in the detail of the fine print of the contract.

We deal with both Konica and Kyocera directly via framework. (Konica for repro and Kyocera general printing) Would recommend both tbh engineer call-outs have been pretty on it the past 12 months.

The workflow for getting students signed in is pants. There are just sooooo many steps. Home or 1 to 1 fine but a lab environment is going to be pretty frustrating experience.
