  1. I don't even know all the teachers names! In my defence we are a very large school, with over 200 staff, and nearly 2000 students.
  2. Is the exe unzippable with something like 7z? I often find the files I'm looking for within a exe file. Alternatively look in C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository on a machine you have manually installed the driver. There should be a folder with that day's date containing all you need. If you add these files to the driver section you will need to rebuild the machines for it to install - if you are looking to push it out post build you are looking at creating a package, though I have had limited success packaging drivers - it might work if you can wrap a package around the unaltered exe with switches, by creating a CC3 type ini file and importing to RMMC that way.
  3. We run Papercut on a CC4 network. We originally set it up with the zero install option, but if a wireless machine goes to sleep or hibernates the connection to the server drops and the program crashes. This prevents printing until the laptop is logged off and back on. The msi provided can be distributed through the RMMC without any alterations. You can then set the program to run at logon through the registry settings in the Console. Obviously you have to use Papercut's interface to add print credits, rather that the RMMC.
  4. Close, but the update is usually applied to the central SIMS database, so all stations need to be upgraded in order to use it, so you don't have the luxury of applying to a single machine and testing. You have to hope that Capita have already done that testing - which, given the number of updates to updates we get, doesn't always seem to be the case!
  5. There are 4 of us here with 1400 computers, 450 of them laptops, and 23 servers. We also look after phones, door entry system and a small (65 machine) mac network. We are split site.
  6. If you want to find a lost device, lock or wipe it, there is an app for that - find my ipad. It should be built in, as find my phone is to the iphone.
  7. You should be able to "Save As" within iworks to save as doc (you might need the export command - I don't have iWorks to hand)
  8. I had quite a long call open about this - we had some orphaned registry settings that had to be removed, and some settings in the system gpo that isn't accessible via console that had to be switched off too. PM me if you want the call reference to log your own call.
  9. If you've got CC4 don't go adding users or altering GPOs in AD - that's what the RM Management console is for. It's fairly easy to find your way around, so get your head around that first - it will become your first port of call for most things.
  10. I have my sophos install set to quarantine -- now very few of my clients are updating, as the files required have been moved to quarantine. Sophos are now recommending the "deny access" option.
  11. If the program runs directly from the CD, without requiring installation you can allow the exe to run by creating a file rule in the RMMC. You will need to create a new file rule for each disk they want to run though.
  12. I've rolled out Chrome, mainly because the GPO is available and so we can manage Chrome as easily as IE.
  13. Opera will allow you to set proxy details independent of IE's settings.
  14. I scored 116 - is that good or bad?
  15. Has the school been promoted? At our school the new timetable doesn't go "live" until Sept 3rd, so any report showing ICT teacher would show last year's teacher.
  16. You need to be in the BIOS to change the boot order - usually when you start your machine you will get a message "press for setup". Its usually F2, Del or Esc.
  17. I know Scratch has an ini file in which you can set the default save location - http://info.scratch.mit.edu/Network_Installation. Can't help with the other two though.
  18. Look at deploy studio Home
  19. Treesizepro has a file search, and will search over multiple servers. I set it to find all mp3, avi, swf etc in a custom search. If it finds a file that is valid I can exclude it so it isn't found in a subsequent search. You than have the option to move, delete or zip the files. File Search - find files faster with TreeSize
  20. Have you tried running a health check on Main Site recursively - it will take an age, but might help.
  21. I now have it packaged for RM - just doing my final testing. I've created a CC3 style package containing the Sibelius installer exe, my ini file reads: [Package] exefile=sibeliusInstaller.exe addcommand=/LSINFO=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx Description=Sibelius 7 I've added a permissions entry to allow write access to C:\ProgramData\Avid - at fist run licence information is written to that location. That's the part I'm testing now.
  22. Someone kick me - I had renamed the install exe to Sibelius.exe, thinking that if an update came out it would be easier to update the RM package if the installer had a generic name. However, when running the installer the first thing it checks is whether sibelius is running, by looking for sibelius.exe! Renamed the file and it installed Now to look at permissions - it seems to need to run as an administrator before it will run as a user - or is that another stupid error on my part?
  23. I'm afraid I didn't set it up - my colleague did, and he's currently on long term sick, so I can't ask him . I'm not aware of any issues though.
  24. We use it for our art and photography students to access Photoshop from home.
  25. When I install Sibelius 7.1 from the command line I get the message that Sibelius.exe is in use, and have to click Ignore to continue the install. When I run the install with the /silent switch I still get the message, however, when I use the RM console to deploy the package the message doesn't appear, but the install hangs at the point it should, if you see what I mean. I've tried copying the exe to the local hard drive and running it from there, so that each install is from it's own version of the file, but the message still appears. Any ideas?
