My CC4 install of Sibelius 7.1 worked perfectly on 32 bit machines, however, we've now upgraded our Music PC's to 64bit. In testing all was well, but now we've done the whole room we're seeing a strange issue. Whenever we start Sibelius, either as a restricted user or an administrator, we get the message that there are fonts missing. The fonts listed are installed, I've checked, pointed hysterically and yelled "They're there", but that doesn't help. Does anyone have any more constructive ideas - it's obviously not permissions, as Admin get the error, and a restricted user can use the fonts in Word.

I know CC4 maintains it's own database, so changing usernames in AD would break it. I'm not sure if the same would hold true for CC3. You could try creating a test account and change the username in AD and then test to ensure CC3 throws up no errors before changing anything in bulk. How were the usernames changed annually previously?

If on SOLUS 2 check the SIMs.ini file in c:\windows contains the line SIMSSetupsDirectory= else you'll get the problem every time you update.

SOLUS 2 or 3?

Would it be easier to build the two clean machines as virtual machines? It would be faster to restore them to clean as well - just keep copy of the image.

I dual boot imacs to OSX and CC4, installing OSX on one partition and smart clienting Windows on the other partition, with no problems.

All our workstations are 3rd party - I've simply added the drivers to the build. We've created a GPO to add wireless details - add a laptop to either the student laptop or staff laptop type and they get all the wireless details. We call in all staff laptops over the summer, though if staff need them we ask for contact details and get in touch so they can pick them up once rebuilt.

We rebuild all our workstations every summer. It just means we aren't carrying over any issues from the previous year - all local profiles are gone, every package is on it's latest version and it gives us a reason to visit every machine and check everything is in order. We have a large network - 1600 machines over two sites.

Usually in early years classes the children quickly realise that the picture they painted has their first name and first initial of surname if there are more than one students with the same first name. Find out what convention the nursery teacher uses in that situation and match it in their username.

We had one on our DDI line yesterday. My colleague played them along for about 15 minutes on speakerphone. When she asked what version of Windows he was using and he replied "Windows 7 Vista" I had to leave the room

Ours have the "online with microsoft exchange" message, but they also have "all folders are up to date" if the cache mode is enabled.

We get similar if exchange cached mode is turned on.

i don't particularly care how exams/coursework are given, as long as the student does all the work and only the top 5% get the top grade. The idea that a student who gets 100% in an exam, and one who gets 70% both get an A is insulting, and doesn't give Universities/employers anything to differentiate these students. The failure of the exam system in recent years is the reason more and more universities are setting entrance exams. My daughter is studying for her PHD and supports in tutorials. She says students enter University now unable to think for themselves.

My boss has just had to go and pick up the life size model of Bart Simpson that some of our students made in paper mache from the middle of the roundabout outside our school. I just hope someone took a picture...

I think I've found out what I had done. Following the advice of our LEA, we are continuing to update the SIMS server via Solus2, as we slowly roll out solus3 to workstations. Therefore, having set up SOLUS3, I then disabled the SOLUS agent on the SIMS server. As a test, I re-enabled the agent, and ran "get target version" on the SOLUS3 GUI. The next workstation I rolled out the agent to has loaded the correct SIMS version.

One year one of our business teachers, who was, let's say, vertically challenged, came in to find his class had placed a load of garden gnomes, with his face stuck on them, all over the school. He collected them, removed his photo, and sold them on e-bay for a profit. Business studies in action...

Once you discover pivot tables you use them constantly. I have no idea how I managed without them!

I would look at a a pivot table - I use one to find those staff who bypass the "no more than 5 copies off the printer then photocopy" rule by pressing print multiple times (pausing between them to get past that rule!)

The correct version was on the server - the workstations were already working with Spring 2013. I had successfully deployed Spring 2013 to my test machines, that's why I was rolling out the agent to others.

I've upgraded to the latest Solus client before rolling out the agent - the agent is 3.5.20. SIMS application is installing to c:\program files\sims\sims .net on both 32 and 64 bit machines - and that is whether I use SIMSInst or Solus3 to install.
