I am having a problem with a Brother 3040 printer. When loaded onto a computer from the server, with Papercut installed, the only thing that will print is a Test Print. If a user sends anything else, Papercut logs the print, the data light flashes on the printer, the printer motor whirrs, and nothing comes out. If however I load a local TCP-IP printer port on the machine and load the printer using the same drivers, it prints. Any ideas?

The msi can also be used to create a CC4 package easily, and your technicians can find instructions on how to add the adm file to the RMCC.

Which version of Office are you using? I know we had an issue with Office 2010 and assessment manager reports until I ran a Microsoft patch.

If restricted users can't see a shortcut, and you've distributed it via a program set, then there is a permissions problem preventing it from running. You can create a dummy package then use ACL Detective to create a writeaccess.ini file for that program.

Exactly what I've done too - in fact my Win7 image for the Macs is fully patched, up to the point I created the image, with the smartclient files in a folder on the C drive and a shortcut to smartclient.exe on the desktop. You can add a new mapping in RMMC - just type in the details you need. It's already populated with the RM servers, but you can add others. This is how we map our SIMS share from a vanilla server.

When you sysprep a windows installation it automatically runs a mini setup once the image is put onto a new machine - resets the SID and so on. Mac server has workstation manager, so you would need that to manage the macs.

No, I created a syspreped image with fully patched Windows and the RM Smart client on it, unnamed and not on the domain. I use deploystudio to put on the image, it runs mini setup and then I use Smart client to add it to the domain and rename it.

You will need to smartclient the windows side, and we have a macmini as a server to manage the mac side of the machines. Use deploystudio to put images of both the MacOS and windows on the machines, and reFIt to allow students to select which OS to use at boot.

if you boot from the usb floppy with cd drivers on into DOS, can you then navigate to the CD ROM? A Windows 98 disk boot floppy might hold the necessary drivers and config.sys file.
