The issue could be that the sewing machine is writing and then deleting a temporary file - if that is the case read only would not work, unless you could prevent the deletion of the file and include it on the image. However if the file is dynamic that won't work either. This is probably the reason the sewing machine needs a read write medium and doesn't just accept a CD.

Can you use remote access to connect to the machine when the projector is connected and change resolutions?

I looked at both the Fire and the paperwhite before Christmas, and found that, if it's only for reading the paperwhite wins hands down - the Fire doesn't seem to benefit from the matt screen that the dedicated e-readers have.

We use mainly Dell for servers and workstations - had a harddrive go on a server recently, we were offered the part, with or without an engineer to fit it. We opted to fit it ourselves, it was here within 4 hours, and I even got a phone call two days later to check everything was up and running OK. I was very impressed with the service.

All exam accounts are disabled when exams are not running. Those that require Internet access are only allowed access to the web page required by the exam. No network drives are set, they are the most locked down accounts we have, which makes them undesirable.

We run our wallpapers from a central location, using a scheduled task on the server to rename the images every 3 days. If a wallpaper doesn't load, the staff then know that the machine isn't on the network. We were having problems with students pulling the network cable halfway through load to bypass security - this is now minimised.

There might be a way to check if they have opened it - I believe we use our VLE, but it's not me who set it up, but, as I pointed out, that doesn't mean they've read it, just had it open on their screen!

We want the staff to be able to sign up to the list and remove themselves from it without input from us. We use distribution lists widely, but this needs to be more dynamic.

My boss wants to create a mailing list for staff to opt into with tips for behaviour management, building good lessons etc. Back in the old days when we had an imail mail server it was easy, but now that we run Exchange 2007 it appears not to be supported. Does anyone know how I can set this up or recommend a third party program that will do it? If it helps we are a CC4 school, and run a Frog VLE.

If you're running CC3 just enable a file rule for the particular exe.
