Are they just keeping a constant conveyor belt of series going? Not that I'm complaining but the last series literally just finished last night!

Can't disagree. It needs a massive over haul, even down to having the option to do an actual server install, or a cloud based option. And the UI of the console is horrendous. I think the development conversation went something like "I know, we shall take the usual UI conventions and ignore them completely. Double click, no that shouldn't open the item, that will open a random menu that no one ever uses."

We use Inventry for both, staff can sign in at the reader in Reception or use the App on their phone.

We use DOMAIN.mail.protection.outlook.com, where domain is our email domain with a - instead of period. No credentials needed oddly. Just ran a test and it works. EDIT: Just checked, the from address we use is a real address though. -
Software that reduced your workload?
TechMonkey replied to Caffeine11's topic in Enterprise Software
I have found just saying, "I'm really sorry but I will probably have another 6 people grab me before I get to the office and I would hate to disappoint you if yours was the request I forgot. Could you email the helpdesk and that will be a good remind for me?" That way the onus is back on them, if you remember and do it you are fantastic and you head off any question of do it especially for them as you have already said everyone will do what they did and you can't be expected to remember everything. It also helped here having a member of SLT that took the mantra of "no ticket, it didn't happen" to heart. If someone moaned about something not happening the first thing they would do was ask if they emailed the helpdesk. Any moaning about IT, lets bring up the list of tickets. No ticket means it can't have been that important or they would have put some effort in. It takes time but framing it in a nice way that actually means they are helping themselves as well as you seems to get traction. I still get mugged but the first thing they will say is "I'll put a ticket in as well but..." so they are getting it. -
BODET Speakers + Multicasting Setup

Ohh it may not help then, this was for inter-VLAN issues. Though we did also have to turn IGMP and pim-sparse on. -
BODET Speakers + Multicasting Setup
TechMonkey replied to Tefters's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
Not sure if it is the same issue but we use a different IP speaker system and had to create an MDNS profile. Commands are: mdns profile "Speakers" vlan VLANS TO INCLUDE exit mdns gateway vlan VLANS TO INCLUDE CAPS are the bits to replace with your VLAN names or numbers. Had mostly success with the speakers, less success with IP phones auto-provisioning. -
Don't forget, they haven't 'lost' it, it was used and they are done with it. They will have worked out the cost of the kit and that cost would be worked into any contract so it will have been paid for in full. There is minimal cost benefit to them to pick it up, they would have store it, keep track of it and then either redeploy or dispose of it. If there was value in it, you can bet they would have picked it up or the engineer would have taken it with him.

I think we dropped it in the end.

Another chip in for Salamander. Also an alternative to LibreNMS (whish is great, don't get me wrong) is PRTG. You can use it free for up to a 100 sensors, so a thing you are monitoring. Be careful when starting monitoring though as the urge will be to monitor ALL THE THINGS!! But you will inevitably end up flooded by data and alerts and just end up ignoring it. Work out what you actually need and then build up. By need, what would be catastrophic if you missed it. Switches or core servers going down, users being added to domain admin groups, lack of internet, web services down, etc. Also get a nice display in your office so things can be displayed, it makes a nice talking point and impresses people when they come in -
We use Prowise currently and have heard good things about Sharp boards.

This is what makes me think they are doing something non-obvious without realising. Have you watched what they do carefully?

Are they holding or pressing the power button when they grip the laptop to push the HDMI in?

Ohh, yes I totally agree. I am not happy being asked for money to see something on a service I all ready pay for. And I haven't seen any reason so far to do that. I do think that was a COVID related decision though, to try and get some extra money. I think it will probably continue as there will always be some that don't want to go to the Cinema or have a decent enough set up at home to not need to go to the cinema and willing to pay that bit more to see the latest and greatest. I think it will be telling if it does continue and what titles it applies to.

It is the big build up to the next phase of Marvel movies. Especially after the COVID movie break (though I don't know how this affected Marvel movies) it is drumming up hype and interest. As Thimon says, I like the way the series do in-between setup, allowing the movies can get on and show the tale rather then fill in back story. I just wished they were released at all at once so they could be binged.

I've not used it but I seem to recall the iSAMS finance product, iFinance, is based on IQ Finance

Third Party Extended Warranty for Dell Servers and SAN

We use Millgate, though that is for HP stuff. Came out cheaper for higher level. -
Yep, after the Jack Ryan series thought this might be great. It was just standard fluff really and not really anything I could get excited about. Into the Wild I watched ages ago after a friend said what a lovely story it was, we were both very outdoorsy so I after reading the the blurb I thought it would be great, inspirational story. Decided to watch it on a grey stormy Sunday afternoon to give me a pickup... That was a bad idea.

Thanks Paul. We have logged a ticket but not heard anything yet.
