  1. This fills me with equal parts joy and dread. But I guess we need to go in with minds open and fresh thoughts.
  2. We are looking to appoint an IT Manager to our team here at Somerhill. The IT Manager’s main responsibility is the oversight, maintenance and development of all IT systems within the School and the successful applicant is expected to play a key role in developing IT policy and strategies. Location: Somerhill, Tonbridge, Kent Salary: From £37,500 (negotiable) Contract: Full time, permanent, 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year Closing date: 10th October 2021 Interview date: Thursday 14th October 2021 Further details can be found on the School website.
  3. As jmak said, we've had a few of these. On was when the closest transformer on a pole popped, the other was when a contractor on a new estate managed to blow something up. No fix within 12 hours (I think) so a big arse generator was brought in. Just ensure you find out the plan to refuel it as one of the times they sent a deliver at something like 2am, thinking they would be able to just rock up, but our gates were locked. No one told us or left a message so the generator ran out of juice. So have a communication plan in place. We have parental communication sorted through our cloud based MIS, with a laptop kept charged and mobile hotspot available. We have an old school phone handset (no power needed) to plug into an old fax line that main lines get diverted to. Mobiles are used to call out, with a few power blocks kept charged. Worst case admin staff can decamp to home and work. Next step is to cloudify our phone system so that we can use the app on mobiles to carry on as normal, or the people at home will carry on using the web version.
  4. Sneaky, the domain routes to the NHS vaccines page. Nothing identifying in the Nominet entry either
  5. I have a version marked 3.33 modified 01/05/2017 if needed
  6. That sounds like a coincidence or red herring. Your log shows a peer uncontactable then contactable, so the peer is available some of the time, not just unavailable when someone dials a wrong extension.
  7. I think you need to quantify this. I'm not sure how Azure will help make significant savings or reduce the endpoint count? Moving device management to Azure may lead to less on site servers needed (no SCCM/MDT needed) and moving to OneDrive and SharePoint will remove file servers, but currently I don't see a complete serverless model for schools unless you are extremely cutting edge or revolutionary. Also how do you see it cutting endpoints? Same number of staff, same number of desks. As others have said, there are easier and more rewarding changes that can be made but it will affect infrastructure more than the end user. Also it will often shift the cost, not always save it.
  8. We host it but are looking to move to cloud. Went completely IP based, except for stand alone phone lines for things like alarms or lift phones, but they never went through the PBX. We currently have our SIP trunks setup so we can redirect them to mobiles or a hardline we left in the main office (old fax line) if the worst happens. If we move to cloud then we will direct people to have the app on their phone and use mobile data.
  9. We host locally. Have done for a while, it was very expensive to host in the cloud when we moved. I need to look at cloud hosted properly as it would be better there. I know some companies will do it for you and the price for that has dropped a lot. Might be better to cut out the middle man and host in Azure.
  10. 3CX. Does everything we want and everything we could probably want, all for one low, low cost. I have no insight to Unifi Talk though.
  11. We make sure everything is set when the PC build, through SCCM or InTune. I think you can push out the Language pack and set it via registry, but I haven't done this specifically so don't have first hand experience
  12. Looks like it means the response is to be served from cache, rather than from the web server, so nothing to worry about unless there are issues.
  13. This should be where your SLA also sets out notification times. If the request does not meet the notification time then the SLA does not apply and it is best effort.
  14. Watched Ode to Joy (2019) last night. A nice story with an interesting take. Martin Freeman is as good as ever, although his accent does tend to wander all over the place. Nothing mind blowing or revolutionary, but good fun and quite sweet in places
  15. Interestingly we are with OrbTalk and get something similar occasionally with our SIP lines. 3CX will say it isn't available, their support says everything is OK and no amount of reconnecting does anything. If you ignore it (which is hard when everyone is complaining about no phones) it eventually reconnects. Often a reboot sorts it.
  16. Watched the first episode of Y:Last man standing last night. Hooked me and got in to the action pretty quickly. It will be interesting to see what direction they take and how faithful to the comics they are.
  17. That is the one but if you go to the Direct Support tab, Smoothwall isn't there
  18. I'm afraid this is the answer. Forms are meant to be quick, throw away surveys, not long term resources. We have the same issue here, people have created them for public forms for the website and for long term staff data entry without considering the ramifications. Same with using Adobe Spark for publications.
  19. We got a Fanvil i31 and it works well, though we aren't really using the video capability that much.
  20. Sounds like a cache issue. Have you tried, in Chrome or Edge, opening the DevTools (F12) and then right click the refresh button and choose "Empty cache and hard refresh"?
  21. We use the Not Yet Registered report in the Registration module. In the Registration Module, go to the reports tab and scroll the bar on the right down to the bottom. We use by set and set it to group by Form.
  22. Check to see if you have two sets of usernames. We have one with just the username and one with domain\username and I'm sure only the domain one works for some reason.
  23. Niche but we have used WhatsApp for on trip communications. We make it Admin post only, use school phones and have the home contact on as an admin as well. This way staff can easily send photos as and when, let parents know what is going on and update them on travel timings without the faff of either contacting the school office or having to use a web interface to email or SMS parents. In an emergency the Admin only setting can be turned off to allow easy comms with parents and the home contact would take control. Obviously relies on all parents having WhatsApp and the school having phones as I wouldn't be comfortable asking staff to use their own.
