So renewal term will also be 3 years, not 1 as some have said. Schools will be constantly locked into 3 year periods, which is interesting as EES said that they were moving to this model to align themselves with other providers. Other providers do 3 years for first contract and then 1 year after. EDIT: I will guess they will rely heavily on auto renewal with no mercy of the 90 day notice period. Starting to feel like evergreen copier contracts.

What I don't understand is if you sign up for three years or more, you are normally locking a price in, to ward against increases and have a known cost moving forward. But from what I have read EES say that the price is locked for year 1 and then could increase each year after. So unless being forced why would anyone go for more years?

Yes would be interested in what software this is. I'm presuming it is a specific printer that has an RFID scanner built in?

We did during lockdown and it does pop up every now and then. Luckily we have a remote support system that we can deploy externally so use that when possible. We limit what we cover and do and make sure that is very clear. But now we have mostly online systems we don't really have much issue.

We have a specific email address that feeds in to our helpdesk for parents so we can track the support level. Other than that we create helpsheets to try and minimise the amount of interaction needed.

Nice idea, but letting pupils have direct access to the school's pupil and staff data, which would bypass any security and restrictions the MIS puts in place, seems like a bit of a flaw. Also, I'm not up on Xporter API but does that work with CLoud systems? I know iSAMS has its own API so direct DB access is very much restricted.

I don't think I am using Active Backup but did turn on the M365 backup solution within Synology. Not used it in anger yet but it looked like it was doing what we needed. I've been of the mind that we didn't need an M365 backup solution but know how it goes so turned it on as belt and braces.

Anyone had any further joy solving this? We are getting about 2 days before needing to powerwash devices to free up space, which isn't really acceptable.

You can SAML your whole Google login to auth against M365. I imagine you could set all the different Google tenants to auth against a single M365 tenant, if the emails match. https://support.google.com/a/answer/60224

Have to say, I've always been a proponent of keeping a land line but after a lightning strike hit a telegraph pole in the area and fried anything plugged in, I've not replaced the handsets and not really missed it. I do get a bit annoyed sometimes as I'd like a stable connection or if my phone battery is low but no big deal.

I'd agree with this and in fact a couple of reps have stated as much, they are a firewall company that happens to do a bit of filtering. I'd also say, if UK based, make sure you look at the UKSIC guidelines, as some filtering solutions, that are more corporate minded, do not cover all the areas schools should be looking at.

I haven't done it this way, but could you sign up to the MS Business Store? https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-store/sign-up-microsoft-store-for-business. You should then at least be able to offer it out as an option (if you are licensed) and get the pupils that want it to install it.

It may have changed but when we looked a few could pull data out, only Inventry wrote back. So just had a poke around and I think it may do what you want. It is pretty simplistic in that it just has an AM and PM session start time option. No closing time.

I am not an expert but as far as I can recall you can add M365 licenses to your OVS whenever. Separately you can move to CSP when you are out of term, which is geared more to cloud based services. They are separate streams.

In iSAMS we do, but I think in Inventry you just set up rules to match what you want. It's been a while since I've had to touch it.

We have iSAMS and Inventry and roughly do this. Pupils can sign in and out and a member of the office staff runs the process to write the marks back. It is not an automated process, for obvious reasons, but is quite painless. You can also build rules, so we have pupils can not use the system to sign in until 08:30, from then until 08:40 they are marked as late, then after that they are marked as later after register. As slugshead said, the app is a bit clunky. The fire register is pretty good in my view, multiple people can use it at once and it updates across the board. The only thing it doesn't do is a full pupil evac register, this is only available for SIMS for some reason. So it will show late pupils or early leavers. Which is annoying. I do still have a ticket open with them about how to update their version of Windows, as it is LTSB and will have to buy their hardware again if we want to update it.
