  1. We use EPOSNow. No idea about integrations though as it isn't used for school activities. It is web based so as along as you have a connection everything just kind of works.
  2. Just off the top of my head I would move the grid to it's own sheet, a reference sheet. If the grid has the lower limits of the year groups you can use a VLOOKUP and it will figure out the range it is in BUT for future proofing I would create a row per year as there aren't many and specifically assign a value to each row. So the first formula would look something like =(VLOOKUP(YEARCOLUMN, REFERENCESHEET!TABLEARRAY,COLUMN_RETURN_VALUE_IS_IN,TRUE)*DURATION)-SCHOALRSHIP Got to run but hopefully that sets you on the right path
  3. I'd try and avoid loopback where ever possible. It always just seems to over complicate things and cause issues without much benefit. Currently trying to unpick the GPOs in a system that had loopback liberally splattered across it. But that is my limited experience, I'm sure some have found fantastic applications.
  4. Try The Guardian. But that is heading off topic
  5. That is a good call, I'll take a look at where the backup location are.
  6. I have just had to look at a pupil's work that was corrupted. Opening the file in Notepad++ the save file is blank. I can't think of an instance where this would be possible as other files have all the candidate details at the top. Am I missing something or has this been maliciously altered?
  7. There is always someone that wakes up and chooses chaos. It needs labelling.
  8. - DropTable - Mass Outage - Deploy and Pray - SIMS Lover - Cloud Jockey - FLOSS Angel - FLOSS Devil - Reboot be damned - Packet Dropper - High Ping - DOS (Can be Denial of Service or Disk Operating System depending on application) - DDOS - Basement Dweller
  9. To answer your questions: - If anyone makes a rock solid way of uploading and managing photos, and price it sensibly, they will make a bomb!! - I've used the photo module of Planet eStream and that worked, if staff did what they were meant to. - You can set up OneDrive to auto sync Photos, but I don't think you can dictate where it goes. - Only used Android phones so can't comment on the differences. I know some schools that have the rule that personal phones can be used to take photos but they have to be uploaded and removed by the end of the day. Overall someone needs to set out expectations and what happens to photos, naming convention, tags, folder structure, etc.
  10. Bit of a hijack, can you get CloudFlare for just DNS and is it a costed service? Every time I've looked at Cloudflare it appers you need a full package to use DNS from them.
  11. Sync is usually the issue. They close the file, log off or shut the computer down and it doesn't give the OneDrive client enough time to feed the file back up. On a personal device this doesn't matter but if they use the same device or go to access the file from a different PC or online they will think it wasn't saved. Even worse if you clear profiles at shutdown or don't have local profiles at all.
  12. Update the Central Policy Store I always take a copy of the old PolicyDefinitions folder and then paste the files in, allowing them to merge with the current folders. Shouldn't kill the Win10 GPOs as they tend to use the same settings and just add the new ones needed, and then these will be ignored by Win10 machines.
  13. Depends on the system. I seem to recall LastPass has a PC application that can do that. I never used it though as I always have a browser open and I just copy and paste.
  14. Had a quick look and it would probably be the Plantronics Hub https://www.poly.com/gb/en/support/downloads-apps I miss my Plantronic/Poly headset
  15. It will be built in to the headset so need the headset configured, which Win10 will not know about. Which headphones are they? I used to have Poly ones that did this and if you had the software you could change all kinds of cool settings.
  16. Have used MediaWiki in the past, with a few extra modules and some templates created. That way policies could be linked. The cover page was one of the boxes that appear at the side. The only issue was that you couldn't report on it, so to see what policies were due you had to manually scroll through them. Approval wasn't automated. I'm currently looking at how SharePoint could be used, with file tags, and workflow automations.
  17. Are they O365 registered? Could be managed from there
  18. What is the school asking for? Where do they want to be in 5 years time? No point innovating if the school isn't ready or willing. Get your foundations solid and up to date (switches, fibers, Wi-Fi, Servers), get your cloud platform squared away (M365/Google), get your security nailed down, get your processes in line (onboarding, offboarding, device building, etc). Then you know you are in position to offer just about anything anyone asks for so you can get in on meetings and ask the question, go see department heads and ask what they need and what they want. Tell them to go blue sky, you may not be able to get there but you may be able to get part way. Don't forget the office and admin areas, they will use IT the most but may have the least understanding of what is possible. I bet there are at least 5 processes they do that you could automate to free them up to do other things. Innovating for innovations sake is pointless. Make sure you are doing the basics well and then find problems that need a solution or questions that need an answer.
  19. We use ScreenConnect by Connectwise. It is a bigger product than just remote connection but is fantastic. It also fits into a larger product to allow full management if you are thinking of heading that way.
  20. I'm looking to get back on. I did an intense course to do Direct Access, took it as a holiday and it was fab. Rode every day along different routes, learning bits and pieces. I did keep it quiet from everyone though. Stopped about 10 years ago when I moved and didn't have room for the motorbike, plus a partner that wasn't keen on it. Her words were, a boyfriend riding a motorbike is cool, a partner is a worry. Should have taken that as a sign! Renting at the moment so still no room but when I buy my own place I'll make sure there is space, hopefully with a close external power point as I'm interested in going electric.
  21. I'd say if they are on coming in to work, even volunteering, you should have a record of them in your MIS to keep track of DBS and emergency contacts. Speak to Salamander though as they seem to be able to do just about everything except make AD sit up and beg using their framework.
  22. I don't use it for attachments. Just passwords and notes, we use SharePoint for files.
  23. I've used LastPass for over a decade and used it with my previous team for a good while. Only downside is it is a bit costly, but does everything marvelously.
