  1. This would be fine if what a good film were not subjective and formed from someone's opinion, which funnily enough differ from person to person. We were talking about this in the office today, American Psycho is an acclaimed film but it seems to be a critics favourite and people latch on to that. It is gorgeously filmed and has its moments but as a film I found it a bit dull and pointless, as did others that had just watched it.
  2. Yes, it seemed to have promise and also seemed to have a commentary on the ethics of AI and just failed to deliver. Cinematography was good and interesting seeing some places I recognised.
  3. Interestingly, I just went to look as we use Intune and ours is unticked in the user area of the office portal and non-existent in the Azure user view. It may be a hangover from days of old as there is also Intune for Education as well as Microsoft Intune. Personally I would look into setting the licenses from the Azure AD view so you can set by groups.
  4. Totally agree and will be happy if Marvel do that. I do like Netflix's label of limited series, though people still clamour for more, Queen's Gambit for example. Tell a story and let that be it.
  5. Keep going. That is intentional. I still feel it WandaVision was written to be binged but has been released episodically. I can see some people watching the first two cold, not knowing what it is about, and then not carrying on as it didn't make much sense, but if they had been all available people would have carried on out of curiosity. It is shaping into a really interesting series, though can't see how it is going to extend into more series.
  6. Cleared the cache from settings?
  7. In Developer mode right click the refresh button and use the "Empty cache and hard refresh" option. Should clear out any corrupted CSS or script files.
  8. Any errors in the Developer Tools?
  9. Does allowing repl.co not work? Or *.repl.co
  10. Reminds me of this
  11. Out of interest, can I ask why that statement makes him a blowhard? Are companies with big HR departments happier or more productive? Could you expand on why not having an HR department is bum gravy? In the article he says managers have the proper training. I've found managers, not knowing what they are talking about and going of half cocked and making up legal reasons or policies is the biggest cause of HR issues. When I did union stuff the trainer said we were already more prepared than most managers we would face as we had had some training. If there was a harassment case and it was dealt with properly by a manager why would an HR department be needed?
  12. No offence, but seems a bit of an over reaction especially as most of us have decided it is junk journalism. The guys is very knowledgeable about his industry and peripheral industries, and the company has done really well. Check out some of his posts or videos he has done with people, such as this one
  13. That is really nice. Good to see a council using the data it has and making it publicly available.
  14. Well, as an interesting though experiment how would we do it? If you joined a company as CTO or Director of Bytes that wanted no IT department, how would you do it? Lets ignore it being a school as that is an outlier really. My first thoughts are everything cloud. If email, records, everything are online then it cuts the risk of ransomware and makes cross compatibility easier. This also means devices are easy to manage as you just don't. Staff can use their own device or any device we chuck at them and they just log into the company portal. No downloads needed if things are kept online, so no worry of data breaches. Cuts MS fees, cuts MDM costs. Keep an MSP on hand if a device dies and do a swap or tech goes out to fix it. No worries about info on the device so they can just flatten it. If they are leasing their HQ then infrastructure could be managed by the building management or outsourced to MSP. Any custom services hosted with a provider so no need to maintain our own infrastructure or engineers. Leaves developers to get on with what they need. Training can be internal or outsourced and staff encouraged to self discover. Induction would cover the main systems they use. Have I missed anything obvious? If something like this is how they have done it then it would explain why they were so agile at dealing with the lockdown and one of the few companies that carried on regardless.
  15. I feel this is a somewhat romanticised view though. It is what we hope HR is but the reality is HR is there to protect the company, they will do what is best for the company. So if the managers are properly trained and can deal with situations and issues why not let them get on with it? I imagine it is also a product of careful hiring. Like the company that made the decision to never fire anyone. Everyone said it would never work but their interview process is full on as they realise that anyone they choose they are stuck with so really put the effort in.
  16. Playing devil's advocate, how often do we gripe about staff not doing the simple things that they could do partly because management don't give us the backing? Sounds like they are getting to be to learn what they need to for their jobs and to keep on top of their learning. All power to them. Octopus Energy are a tech based company so it could be that they don't have an "IT Department", but they have IT people that do stuff. If they have gone all out Cloud or online systems then it maybe that staff get a standard laptop and access what they need via the browser. I don't see it as impossible or unworkable, especially if they have a CTO that knows his stuff and can direct the company in the right direction. As ever, I wouldn't judge their IT provision unless I knew more as it maybe it works very well and just isn't a model we are used to.
  17. No experience with it but at a quick glance it looks more like a project/task management system than a helpdesk. My concern would be that in trying to shoe horn a helpdesk into it you will get a worse system. Looking at their own uses page it doesn't include help desk. Could be a great system for running IT projects, but for day to day I would be skeptical.
  18. I've not got one but this guys reviews are great
  19. Are you cloud hosted? We use custom templates, there is even an editor in the settings. We've used it for 5 years or so. Can't complain. Does everything and more that we need, has been rock solid and at a decent price. Best thing is all the features are there, rather than having to buy a license for this and a new license for that. The price worried our Bursar at the time, thought it was too cheap so must be bad. But we ran a POC and it was perfect. As an IT department we use softphones and headsets, which works great (and has the added benefit of stopping people coming to our office to make a call!) and the mobile apps and web interface took a massive load off over COVID.
  20. Should be posted every year.

    Static IP

As others have suggested, it isn't picking up a DHCP address. 169 IPs are generally MS locally assigned when it all goes horribly wrong.

What IP is it? Is it a 169 address?
  23. I'd say, being a bit pessimistic, the case against would be companies won't be looking to jump ship mid pandemic and companies that didn't have anyone would have contracted by now. If you have some offers lined up though, go for it. There are so many shocking MSPs that if you are fair and make money without gouging you'd do well, if you can get the chance to get them on board.
  24. I may have not grasp all the nuances of this but from what I have read I take issue as, though I don't agree with her politics, it should either be a no politics at all stance or a people are allowed their opinions as long as they are not offensive. Some actors have been allowed to post their views which are considered allowed. She has posted some views that are considered frowned upon. Who decides which are the allowed views or is it just populism? The pronouns thing is an interesting one. Should you be yelled at because you won't do something or you won't overtly support something? Will companies start censuring staff if they don't support the latest cause?
  25. Pupils here use Digimaps, linked to University of Edinburgh. Seems to work well.
