Im still to hear off the powers that be here, but it doesnt look like they're gonna allow me to do it. But they let other support departments make profit for materials in other ways...? .
-
Yeah. I just checked with our finance officier here as i wouldnt have minded doing something similar here, as the money could be used as extra revenue for IT parts. But the finance officer thinks that there might be some sort of legal problem with a school doing that, as we're not ment to make a profit. .

Same here. We have it on our station builds, and going out via a GPO as its in MSI format. .

Oh i'd like to use it, but we dont have an exchange server here, all of our mail is done through our LEA's imail service, which they hardly access how it is. We do technically have an email system, on our VLE, that limits the mail to fly around on the VLE only, so ive been quizzing the tech guys at our VLE if its possible for us to use that with the helpdesk software.

The winsock reset/reinstall is along the lines of the fix that i know of. I'll start re-imaging the machines as/when they get the problem. Looks like i'll have to put the cause down to 'unknown' .

Ive found that setting the default for that field to something random like [email protected] allows them to skip over it, but nothing that allows them to skip it completely. Ive been talking to the SMTs at our place, get the staff to log everything but critical on the helpdesk, allowing me to refuse all other forms. Ive only seen 2 of the 4 SMT, but they've both said yes, quite convincingly, upto now.

So your script removes those keys at each logon for administrator? Does that affect any pupils who log on afterwards?

Im quite pleased with the NT Authorisation support. Thats quite nifty, as it's one less barrier to the staff. . I originally set it as a per-department login, with two logins for myself and my part time colleague. But i enabled NT Authorisation, and it works arguably better now. . Is there a way to stop 'email' being a required field? as we're just not gonna use that here?

lol. I didnt mean google complaining, i mean from the perspective of the goverment, schools arnt aloud to make profit are they? Or am i talking nonsense? .

Yes does 'connect' with a static IP, but it still wont see the server, thinks theres no TCP/IP stack. And pinging it does work, but i get a wierd ping code, where it thinks the IP of the server is some wierd nordic characters. .
-
I thought it might be that, but is that even legal for a school to do?
-
True. But if they can see what ive reset them too, or even any priority level given to it, which afaik they cant see anyway, it'd be helpfull as it'd eventually give them some perspective. Why so funny? It was a issue in IIS management, something like 'set allow parent paths'. Once that was on it worked fine. .

Ive just been on the phone with a guy at our LEA that i know, and we've run through a multitude of server and workstation tests and are still none the wiser. . Next thing is a virus scan on the HDD of a machine at DOS level.
-
Its still happening. Ive had it happen to 7 machines this morning alone. . Any more ideas?
-
Got it working. But im none too impressed with it. The users cant set their own prioritys nor can they see the overall problem list. Do any of the other helpdesks do this?

Generates revenue? How?

Hi. Ive been trying to get Librium to work on our IIS for about a week now, but i cant get it working. . Ive got it configured, due to other websites being on the IIS, to have an address of: http://localhost:7000 Now, if i goto "http://localhost:7000/setup.asp" i get the update database/languages screen as specified by the readme, the 'install' option appears to work correctly. However, when i goto the next step, which is supposidly "http://localhost:7000/admin" i get a page cannot be displayed error? Can anyone help me, as i'd really like to get this setup. Thanks in advance all. .

Key for 2008 appeared on Volume Licensing?
boomam replied to sidewinder's topic in Windows Server 2008
Just checked, same here too. Anyone got 2008 downloads available yet? -
Its different on the one in my VM. Maybe thats because i installed that off a McAfee download, and the rest were most likely from a CD that the old techys used? Got both scripts in the file now though, appears to work fine. Is it likely to be different on each machine though?
-
Odd. It still doesnt work. Is the string different on each machine?
-
Ive modified the batch file as you said and its odd, because nothing appears to happen. The first bit errors (because my test system doesnt have the anti-spyware on), and the second bit skips a few lines, then goes back to the command prompt. If i check task manager, msiexec is running, but McAfee is still open? If i restart, McAfee remains on the system? .
-
Do you have a link? As ive looked on the Sophos website and cant find anything? Thanks. .
-
Yes. On every boot. Bizzarly, i tryed running the McAfee removal batch file manually and it just errors saying no such thing? . So maybe thats why NOD isnt installing?
-
This is annoying me now. I have three GPOs setup. One to remove McAfee. One to install NOD32 + settings. One to remove NOD32 start menu shortcuts. Ive got them set to a testing OU with my test computer, with McAfee installed on it, yet none of them seems to work? Although RSOP reports them as being detected. Ideas?

Sorry, forgot to post back, got it working, i forgot to add \eset\ to the command. . Thanks everyone. .
