The screws on it are too short. Seems a bit of an odd way to mount though, as these desks flip up and down, so surely with the monitor just 'hooking' on it'd fall off easyily?

Im confused. So i just need to get some screws, or is there some type of mounting plate that i need?

The thing im a little unsure on is storage. The HDD speced there is literally just for the OS. Im unsure wether to get: - A large 1Tb drive for the system, mounted internally. - Have 2x500Gbs in RAID Mirroring. - Have an external drive for storage. - Have a NAS for storage. Thoughts? Im looking to do a MSCA now, and have persuaded SMT to buy me the core MSCE books. Are they gonna be able to be used on these new qualifications?

Thats confusing. So the MSCE & MSCAs are ceasing to be, and in their place there will just be MCITP. And the MCPs will become MCTS? So i take it bar the names, its gonna be mostly the same, so several MCTSs in the right areas will = a MCITP?

So do all you get a lump sum? And then you decide when computers/laptops/printers are needed? Because all i get is an amount for 'repairs'. And then anything above that has to be something ive had planned, and then approved at the beginning of each financial year. With the head of ICT deciding/suggesting to SMT rooms that need new computers in.

Hi. Can someone help me with MS Access. Im trying to create a basic database that has one table/form for pupils, one for incidents, and then all the incidents that that pupil is involved in listed on that pupil form. With the 'menu' form on the database allowing editing of pupil information and editing of incidents. Its basically something to log incidents that specific pupils do, with the ability to see what incidents each pupil has done by just looking at their name. Can anyone help me with this?

Yes. It appears to be a problem with the laptop that im trying to do it on, i wacked all the drives into a normal system and ghost picks everything up. Then in the process of cloning back to the new 160Gb, i didnt realise that the 160Gb drive i was temporarily using to store the image, the drive with lots of my work and whatnot on, was wiped! :-o . Luckily, i dont think,theres nout on there that i need. Hopefully. .

Hi. I just got a new HDD for my diagnostic laptop. Its existing drive is a 40Gb split up into 4 partitions (windows, swap, temp, data). Ive been trying image it to a USB drive, and then reimage that back to the new 160Gb drive. But im having no end of problems. First Ghost wont pick up the USB drives, even though it used to. And second, it keep crashing out when i try imaging to the network! Ideas?

Ive tryed everything to get the LameMP3 encoder to work. The regedits ive tryed dont appear to work unfortunatelly. . Could really do with that MSI file with Lame already configured/intergrated into Audacity.

Not sure on the RIS question, but moving your images should just be a case of moving the files over on whatever medium is convienient?

Hi. Im looking at doing a MCSE. Ive managed to persuade SMT to buy me the self paced training kit for the core parts of it. And then they'll buy me the other 3 when ive chosen them. But im unsure which of those 3 to go for. I was planning on: Vista AD Design & Infrastructure and Exchange 2007. Are they worth going for or should i look at the other ones? I have a vanilla network here. Ive got the domain level GPO specifying things like login text. A gpo per user group for settings for those users. A gpo per computer room to allocate specific printers. GPOs over all the computers for specific software installs, one per software. And the same again for settings.

Ive been wanting to do that here. How do you get that put through though? As your gonna need a paper trail for auditing are you not?

What do you mean by: "catalyst approved suppliers and regional consortiums" Not come across that before tbh. At our place, we only have to get 3 quotes if its over a grand. So what i generally do is spec up with one supplier, then send the same email out to 4-5 others. Wait for them to come in, then print them, staple them together with an order form. Sign the order form, pass to a head of IT for signing as well (aparently theres only 4 people in the school that can sign off on purchases?) and then give it to the burser for ordering. Bit long winded, but its not too bad.
