  1. Under 10% most of the time. Pinging via both. Touch wood, it appears to have sped up, pinging, to what it was before. Logins are still slow for some clients, but i think thats because they havnt been restarted since the DNS change on the DC. Correct?
  2. On a bright note about this program, as i havnt tested it for sure as there are other problems im seeing too atm, it looks like SSPR can be used to reset Frogserver VLE passwords also, in a roundabout way....
  3. Hi. I got in work this morning early so i could boot everything (power was off over half term). After boot up of everything i noticed that the internet wasnt working, so after so faffing around between me, our VLE helpdesk(proxying goes through frogbox) and our LEA we finally got everything half working, by changing the DNS forwarding on our DC to the address of our proxy. Anyway, 10mins later, everything goes belly up. No-one can log on, see their areas if they can, and policys not setting. I changed the DNS forwarding settings on the DC back to what they were originally, and everything appeared to work again, with the internet returning about 10-15mins later for whatever reason. The problem ive got now though, is that although everything does work, its very slow. Pinging the DC, which usually averages 0ms, is now averaging 4ms, and log ons take between 5 & 10 minutes to do. Plus, even using it locally is jerky, as is logging on remotely to it? Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this? Thanks in advance all. .
  4. Do you know of any good TS write ups anywhere i can browse though? Theres still a few question i could do with finding out about it, so rarther than littering this thread further, i'll see what i can find to read. .
  5. Interesting thread. Im looking at ways to provide Sims.net at home for a small number of staff myself. I was considering a VPN Concentrator based solution, but im wondering if TS would be a better option?
  6. Tryed all that. Resolutions. Refresh rates. Intel graphics utility. Function key. Still no luck. Its not a biggy, as ive just swapped the laptop with one that does work, but i still wouldnt mind knowing what was up with it for future reference.
  7. Have you thought of doing a fresh install, and not installing that update?
  8. Hi. One of our rooms has an InFocus EP24+ projector in it. We've just had it replaced because the image was messed up on it. The problem now is that it wont detect an image off the teachers laptop whose room its in!? Its odd, because the projector works with other laptops fine. And the teachers laptop (D510) works with other projectors fine. Im a bit stumpted here. Tryed everything i can think of, settings, drivers, etc; Any ideas? Thanks in advance all. .
  9. What if theres just the one DC then? ATM, we have just one DC. If i was to ghost it to one of our NAS's for example, i take it that the restore would work fine? Cant remember where i read about the DC ghosting problem tbh, as i never thought it made sence. .
  10. See i like the iPhone, and although they've fixed one of my problems with it, lack of multi-recepient SMS, the lack of MMS, poor camera abilitys & various other faults put me off it. When the iPhone v2 comes out, that'll be the one to get imo. sahmeepee, the original N95 did, and does, suffer from a poor battery. Something that the 8Gb model doesnt however. It may seem like im harping on about the 8Gb, but i just dont like seeing it tarred with the same brush as the original.

2007. Syncing with the Nokia software..b
  13. Bit of a daft question, but can DC's even be ghosted? I remember getting told a while back that ghosting a DC then restoring it, even on the same or identical hardware, causes lots of problems. Or is that all rubbish? .
  14. I have a similar problem here: All the settings in sysprep are correct, but it errors on the joining the domain bit. If i then manually put in the same info, still in mini-setup, it works fine again? Very odd problem, but not one im overly concerned about tbh. Stops the kids naming the computers while im out of the room.

    Outlook syncing

Hi. Im not sure if this is the right forum for this, so forgive me if it isnt: Is there a way i can filter what outlook syncs to my mobile? For example, i have my contacts organised into catagories, but i dont want all of those catagories sent to my phone. Only certain ones. Possible? Thanks in advance all. .
  16. The TyTn is a good phone. Very well built. Is the official WM6 ROM out is it? Have a look on XDA Developers for customised ROMs for it. .
  17. Im not too keen on the scripting route. There were problems with the scripting used by the old techies here, the only consistant way to get the printers to allocate was to do them with ppc in GP, which i setup. Is the only way i can do default printers with scripting then?
  18. I think i'll stick to the mantra 'if it aint broke, dont fix it' for now. .
  19. ...and the rest of the changes! lol. . Its not a touch screen at all!? Differences in full: Bigger screen. (The extra 0.2" really does make a big difference imo). Better battery. More refinied OS (more stable, more battery efficient, faster GUI, few more features). Full flash support. Different, higher quality, casing and construction. Black in colour. The screen sits flush with the casing and has a protective layer. 8Gb of storage memory. More RAM. Program Paging. (big flaw on the original was that the lack of RAM caused slowdown, and the phone would close background apps to allow new apps to run, the 8Gb pages data so this doesnt happen. Its possible to have lots of apps open with no slowdown or closing of apps in the background). Both N95s are good phones, but the N95 8Gb is the phone the original should have been.
  20. Luckily I have it alright here. What generally happens is, that if i catch one of the pupils on a games site, proxy site, or having links to them in their favourites, then i immediately ban them for one week. I then take screenshots and evidence to the SMT, who then take action by punishing the pupil and sending a letter home to their parents. They inform me of any extensions or changes to the bans. Teachers do ask me to remove the ban 'just for this lesson', but i allways tell them to go and talk to SMT about it. . Works quite well tbh. .
  21. R2 is an essential install on any server imo. Its just a set of tools rarther than a patch, so as such, theres almost no risk to the system in installing it. .
  22. Hi. I cant find a solid answer on this: I apply printers here via GPOs. Problem is, that i cant work out how to set default printers. Is that possible with GPOs? Thanks in advance all. .
  23. We have been using Symantec 10d on both of our networks. With both backing up to various types of tape. Daily. Just 10mins ago, i setup scheduled NTBackup jobs on both servers: Weekly user data (home drives) backup on curriculum to NAS1 on saturdays, and on sundays, the system state backup. And on the admin network, a complete system backup that runs on saturdays.
  24. Is there any point in me changing that line if it all works ok for me? .
  25. Thanks again Plexer. My LEA were helpful for once. The refered me to a company called RareIT, who refered me to QAIQ, who gave me all the info i need. Basically £630 for the exams plus the cost of the books....
