About JimStokes

  1. I have put the link on an Intranet page that only staff have access to.
  2. One advantage to Orbaas, is that there is nothing to install, so it is very quick to get up and running. Not having to have another password for staff to remember is a bonus!
  3. I have installed XP Pro onto a Sony Vaio AR51M, which was supplied with Vista. Any idea where I can get the XP drivers, as Sony only provide Vista drivers to download. I am looking for: Network, Audio, Video. Thanks Jim
  4. The account is a domain admin account. I can manually join a computer to the domain using this account.
  5. I am getting an error message when I try and join a pc to the domain using Ghost: Error: failed to join domain: logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. I have checked that the ghost console account is in active directory, but this keeps happening. Anyone got any ideas?? Thanks Jim
  6. thanks ! Jim
  7. Do you use NetSupport ? We had a similar issue, when students were finding a way to remove NetSupport from individual computers, next time someone tried to log on, it came up with that error. Jim
  8. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement stand for a CTX-VL700 monitor? We have a whole room of matching hardware, but one stand is broken, and it seems a waste of money to replace a whole monitor because of this. Thanks Jim
  9. We have also backed up and restored the master database- and can actually see the usernames in sql studio. We are still getting the "Reason 0" error though ! :?: :?: :?:
  10. Where are they stored :?: Thanks, Jim
  11. Hi all, I have an RM CY25 laptop, with a hard drive which needed replacing. When I was replacing the drive, I accidently broke the connecting block, which connects the pins on the hard drive to the connector on the motherboard. So can anyone help me with 2 questions: What is one of those called ? Where can I get a replacement? thanks Jim
  12. Does anyone have a fairly recent version of 3Com Boot Services? We have a copy which is about 3 years old, and the file we need is UNDIP.COM , which is a generic file for network booting. (I think !) I am hoping that there is a more up to date version of this file, which will work with our network cards. (Realtek 8139) If anyone knows where I can get an updated version of this file, please let me know. thanks Jim
  13. Thanks for your replies. I have done a bit more research, and found that you have to register each installation separately, so it is not going to work when cloned. cheers, Jim
  14. We have just rebuilt a workstation, installed Visual Express, and then used Ghost to deploy the image out to an ICT Suite. When you go to use Visual Express, it comes up with the following error message: vbexpress.exe The application failed to initialize properly. Click on OK to terminate the application. It works fine on the original workstation, and the only thing we have done is cloned it. Any ideas why it would not work after being cloned? thanks Jim
