Nice! We're talking about SIMS Connected yeh? (as opposed to "next gen") That would be a big bonus for us as we already have staff Chromebooks. I am just distinctly worried about the tales of unreliability that seem to have been a consistent theme over the years.

The problem is that usually, no one in schools has the expertise or skillset to do capital procurement. We're not lawyers, solicitors or contract experts. But that being said - purchasing one MIS for one school doesn't qualify as a capital procurement in my eyes so why are those type of rules suddenly being forced on schools for small purchases. (£10-20k a year is peanuts in the world of commercial procurement, let's face it I mean I bet we spend more than that having the lawns mowed). Obviously trusts are a different ball game but then like an LEA they do/should have the financial capacity to employ or hire qualified legal personnel for this sort of thing.

Yeh I've got this pain in my neck too. Got netsupport notify but it doesn't really do what we need and it's not super easy to use. Doesn't it to integrate with Paxton Net2 either which wasn't a requirement when be bought it but is now. Any further comments about computer lock down systems particularly if they integrate with gate/door management would be darn useful! Cheers.

What is the best way of clearing out a managed ipad on apple school manager and mosyle? We don't want to drop it off the MDM etc completely as it becomes a load of hassle to get it back and on the wireless etc - which I believe is what happens if you do the "Rest Ipad" in the settings? For some reason the "Erase content and settings" option is greyed out. Anyone an expert in this I don't want to send an ipad out that is logged on to something and checking each app and setting is a big job prone to human error. Thanks

Ah, yes that is problematic.

Ipads are terrible as shared devices, a long time ago we ran a shared cart of 32 and they where a nightmare, and nowadays no compliant with GDPR and cybersecurity. They only work as 1:1 devices as that user can then set a pin and sign into all their apps securely, in which case why wouldn't you want them to also access their drive/work?

We are being pushed into SIMS Connected too. The comments I read on here like the above fill me with dread. I'd move to a new MIS tomorrow if it was my decision but sadly I am no where near my headship :-/

In place is only useful if the server itself is ok - if it's 8 yr old and creaking then probably would be a better idea to move it onto your newer VM server - I've used microsofts own physical to virtual migration tool before and it worked a treat but that was 6+ years ago so not sure if that still applies. Done lots of in place upgrades this summer from 2012r2 to 2022 or 2019 and all worked.

That's a strange one - my Ricoh copiers and papercut store the correct number in papercut. Using mifare cards for both MFDs and building access. Are they mifare cards as they are 100% supported? Maybe the new copier card readers are having trouble with your cards?

Sadly sometimes it can be like trying to get your 90 year old grandad to have a new kitchen. You can list 20 good benefits that make total sense but nothing'd going to matter if they just can't face the upheaval of it all.

I've got verbose mode on all the pcs all the time - very handy for troubleshooting.
