Yes have done this too - the IT suites get my package with the default apps in - we found that people changed their mind about what apps they needed and it was a pain to go around manually updating - so now the pupils can add any app they need there and update existing apps, as long as they are logged in. Works much smoother - haven't noticed bandwidth to be a big issue on a 1 gig line as usually only one class at time make a change and once it's done it's done. Has anyone tried installing a local version of the download/update cache?

Let's be blunt, your ability to do the job well is based on experience and knowledge not qualifications. A degree can sometimes mean nothing really other than to prove you are happy to be a sheep following the herd? Boy I've sure seen some degree/masters coming in for interviews over the last 22 years who could barely string a sentence together or complete a simple task.

Promethean haven't actually made any effort, ever, to make flipcharts more accessible/easily exportable/importable on a wider number of device types. I've been waiting 18 years so I sincerely doubt there's be any more progress for you. We're just totally moving slowly away from Promethean now as each flipchart a teacher spends time making is inaccessible anywhere else and completely useless for distance learning in the future.

Hmm I am using Computer > Policies > Admin Templates > System/User Profiles > Delete user profiles older than a specified number of days on system restart > Delete user profiles older than (days) 90 And have still had PCs run out of space. Maybe I will try changing it to 60 days then 30? Is that the exact setting you are using? Cheers

How are you doing that at the moment I've been finding delprof2 and GPO profile removal settings very unreliable. Got some 120GB SSDs here that can fill up over a year.

Either that or use Veeam which makes it pretty easy to do an encrypted backup copy to pretty much any device you choose, anywhere.

The main barrier to accomplishing this is simply exam boards complete lack of IT knowledge and skills. Alot of exam software doesn't simply "just work" in any modern web browser - schools that may have good equipment levels can't run exams using that existing equipment as it needs a PC or needs some software installed and its windows only. I am 1:1 chromebooks and even though we have all the equipment needed for literally the entire school to sit an exam at the same time during the same lesson on one day - 75% of my online exams have to be done in IT suites spread around hours/days. The kind of exams we put 200 pupils in the gym and hall and give them a pen and paper are literally impossible using IT suites with the current exam boards archaic attitude to software development (a crap insecure windows app usually).

Yes it's a shame the LEA are too backward to allow us to use modern purchasing methods to ensure maximum value for money. Oh well.

Here are a few generations of workstations we buy from ICT Direct. From super old now (but still going!!) HP Z800 to the newer HP Z4s which are single CPU only but rather nice.

Yes but your talking 2000 a camera rather than 200? Not really a competitor to hikvision.

As above there's lots of things you need to figure out but a general rule will be you're gonna want at least a core i5 and 32 gig of ram and a decent sized SSD preferably a 5 year old or less GPU in order to run that decently. If funds are tight look at the second hand suppliers - ICT Direct etc have supplied me with HP Xeon workstations for these typed of tasks at a very reasonable budget.
