I think so bit the problem is I am not sure why - the wiring or the lantern itself? I wouldnt be against keeping the lanterns if they are still able to be made to work - maybe supplementing with some new multicolour LEDs around the edges of the hall and stage, and we deffo need a new DMX system as the old one is literally sliders zero automation or programming.

If it's work that could cause any sort of spike or sag - i would unplug the switches if you can (either pull power or if easier flick off the circuit breaker). It's going on and off and on and off that can screw things up.

Yes we've had exactly the same here - ultra old lights (90s or before) and about 50% of them have been condemned and disconnected. We just don't have £20k+ spare to get a company in.

The important thing to remember is that teaming does not multiply your maximum bandwidth, it just allows some of the data to be split between multiple paths. So for example, if you had 4 x 1GB links you do not actually have a 4GB link, you have a 4 x 1GB link that can support 4 times the number of total connections through it. You still cant have one server and one client transfer 4gb/s through it. But 4 clients and 4 servers could transfer 1GB/s each at the same time.

You can buy little USB testers off amazon which tell you the voltage etc the USB port is putting out and tells you the amps the device is drawing so could use one to tell if the keyboard is pulling anything untoward from the port?

I would recommend the school get legal advice before responding as I would assume responding inaccurately would leave you open to potential legal action in the future. Maybe your LA legal team could help?

Any battery calibration required (that's an argument in itself) should be done by the suppplier as part of their refurbishment process. I.e they should send the laptop to you fully working and tested. If not, find another refurb suppplier.

It's not fun - but you can't be allowing scripts like that to run on any network connected PC as a) your putting all your data at risk, and b) you'll instantly fail any cybersecurity audit/best practice. Most schools seem to go the virtual machine route to allow pupils to do almost whatever then want on their virtual machine. It's not a quick and easy set up though and you'd need to get your IT teacher on board.

If it's not authenticating them it should default to the highest level of filtering rather than none, shouldn't it?

That's a bit worrying - 5 - 10 hour sync sounds like it's copying the entire sims database rather than just the info it needs?

I have exactly the same problem - trying the suggestions now!

My advice would be try to have it all done by one system rather than integrating several different systems from several different vendors - it gets messy especially if something stops working and the vendors stat playing "the blame game".

We've had Net2 put in by the LA for door access and the external gates. It interfaces with the fire alarm but that's all I know. We have a big red lockdown button (physical) and a software button which locks the mag lock doors and external gates We already had Netsupport notify for sending out messages previous to the net 2 install. We want to try and get it so when the lockdown button is pressed on paxton, netsupport (or some other software/method) sends out a message to the teacher PCs too.

Problem is it's not generally us here who are saying the above - I'd move next week. It's everyone else!

1:1 chromebooks here. * Wireless - aruba system procured by LA. Whatever system you put in don't skimp as the purchase price is somewhat inconsequential compared to the massive negative effect on learning once your 1:1 is in full swing. * Backend - if your having 50-100 wifi points with up to 35 devices connected to each then you will need decent switches, 10gig building uplinks and at least a 1gig internet connection * Devices - chomebooks for students and staff - we use google in every classroom and chromebooks are just so darn good open the lid, the kid is in and learning. Job done. I wouldnt go back to windows or ipads now. (we do have some ipads for certain use cases) * No external companies - with google and chromebooks it's very easy to set up and manage so we do it alone. Every £500 you spend on a company or a consultant is 3 more chromebooks you could have bought. * You have to deal with accidental/malitious damage one way or another, for some this is warranties (not generally worth the paper they're written on on mobile devices) for others it's insurance (excess more than the device??) for others it's a third party agreement with a company (very expensive). For us we deal with it all in house, keep at least 5% of your fleet size as spares, and repair as much as humanly possible in house. I am not saying this is the right way. But it is our way. * Anther thing to note is - sustainability. What do you do in 5 years when all the devices need replacement? We are doing sustainability payments so that in 5 years time we have the money for replacements - that way a single particularly nasty year's budget won't risk destroying our 1:1 provision

Do you have an adobe creative cloud licence for your school? If so download adobe media encoder - it does everything you need including batch converting and it's a much nicer interface than handbreak/scripts

Chances of getting out of an existing lease are low to none. If you want to change system's 3 years in to a 5 year lease, you'll have to pay the two more years anyway - whether that's pay the old company up front to settle, or integrate that debt into the new lease with the new company. (Unless you've got a crack team of lawyers that can prove they've breeched their contract......most schools don't have access to that)

Very timely - we've started to use some AI features. I can't see AI going away any time soon so I guess you'll get to a stage where if you say no to AI you'll be saying no to the internet?
