New VLANS - different subnets and or private ip range?
mukz replied to CapnPugwash's topic in Wired Networks
1) Put servers/workstations/printers all in separate vlans 2) door access control?? 3) av management e.g projectors 4) anything you could have in future which doesn't lie in those caregories. -
We have a server policy that we apply to the ip range for the servers. We don't use the agent.

Is your firewall managed by yourselves or externally? If externally, and you don't have room for enough VLANs in your IP range to suit your requirements you can add a firewall to the mix and have an internal network which doesn't need to hit the internet. We are currently in the process of implementing this at my place, all access control, projectors, etc will sit internally with no access to the internet, we will have some student computers NATTING to an IP provided by LGFL. things like staff computers which need VPN access will sit on the range provided by LGFL. -
Hi Brett, can you post your current report on here so i can see it. We have period working but did it ages ago with less fields.

Splitting Digital Telephones via Switches (5 to 1)
mukz replied to Steve21's topic in Wired Networks
Guess i was completely misunderstood what you said! I don't think the segregated VLANs per phone would work either, but no harm in trying it. Stranger things have happened to me before (tv receiving digital signal with no ariel connected!) -
If someone objects to paying for the course higher up, then you can sign up to myaccount and look at the handbooks used on some of the course and try to familiarise yourself.

Splitting Digital Telephones via Switches (5 to 1)

Have you tried putting an 8port poe switch in there to do the job? Unless i have not understood clearly/ misreading what you have written. It should work -
Yup Unfortunately not that smart. I would prefer to keep the raids separate for storage on a raid6 especially if it is just file storage. and use the bigger drives for HyperV Machine Storage. but that is just me. I would also have a look into Windows Storage Spaces. Might be better suited for you.

Nothing stopping you do that. I do that on our Dell MD3200, HOWEVER You will be limited to the usable data area on each drive which will be equivalent to the capacity of the smallest drive -- 900 GB in this case.

If it is just to run I'm pretty sure their is a local group which is not admin but allows .exe files to be run
-
Yup, check the services to see if all is okay and running as should be. Can you check if the ccm client is properly deployed to a DP

Check the ccm.log file on sccm server using cmtrace. I believe that will help you further to check where it is failing. Our one failed due to dns issues and sccm not being able to correctly identify a client. This is taken from technet. ccmsetup.log Records ccmsetup tasks for client setup, client upgrade, and client removal. Can be used to troubleshoot client installation problems. ccmsetup-ccmeval.log Records ccmsetup tasks for client status and remediation. CcmRepair.log Records the repair activities of the client agent. client.msi.log Records setup tasks performed by client.msi. Can be used to troubleshoot client installation or removal problems.

Hi Stuart, What do you want to achieve with the drives is the question? Is it for file storage? Is it for SQL?
-
Hi Roger, you will most likely have to wait for a patch.
-
Open the file in the following Location on the workstation it is refusing to connect to: C:\Program Files\Solus3\AgentService\Sims.Solus3.Agent.AgentService.exe.config Look under the XML TAG If all else fails, this is what i usually do to get me working. 1) Remove the computer from solus 2) ipconfig /flushdns on the server 3) do a ping to workstation and make sure that it is correct ip That normally sorts it for me
-
Hey Steve, Please see attached. Also, has the solus agent started on the workstation which is having issues?
-
Urm - thats a good question! I will check my setup, just driving into work. Stuck in bloody London traffic! P.S i turned off auto update by the way.
-
Hi Steve, it shouldnt be local address, it should be the solus servers IP, well at least our one is. Try checking the solus install log file on the machine in question and see if it has installed properly.
-
Question: have you changed any gpos around? Can u add a new machine to the network directly attached to the core switch and see if the issue replicates.
-
What do the event logs say?
-
Also worth checking the fibres are plugged in the right way around on the patch on Both ends - happened to me three or four times before.
-
There is a sims patch related to OLE DB but not sure if it would help. Worth calling up sims support, backing up the server, running the patch, see if it works. This would mean u have to backup and restore using SQL Management Studio also if the patch causes issues.

#554 5.4.6 Hop count exceeded - possible mail loop ##
mukz replied to CAWJames's topic in Enterprise Software
Do you have anything in the middle by any chance?? -
Hi Rob, You may have to duplicate the email field into the pager field and use that. (Not tried, just a thought) We have it pick up the employeeID field within AD which is extracted from our MIS SIMs
