I don't think it deletes the apps themselves. It deletes the content metadata type stuff (if i am incorrect i do apologise as I've not yet tried it myself.)

I am not in disagreement with you, but sometimes they do not want to be educated until they have been proven to be guilty - believe me, our staff permissions are so locked down just because they do not want to learn. One user Cut files from the Home Folder to their Thumb Drive and then asked me why we had deleted her work - now lucky we had an audit trail and she looked Silly as she has got the Head involved.

We use SCCM for this, obviously not just for Remote Control.

Get yourself on Microsoft Virtual Academy which has some great free training resources with virtual labs. Another option is the home lab as mentioned by ephelyon or the Test Lab at your workplace by rom1984

Nope to folder redirection and also no to other applications. It is just the blasted access that is doing this. Saving to desktop and then copying to home drive works but cannot save directly to the network share. Even one with full access permissions where the user owns the folder!

Not a new share. It is the users home folder basically, we don't have roaming or mand profiles. Everyone with full access to the users folder and then modify access for said student. If i give myself the domain admin permissions i can then save to the folder but not with the domain admin permission.
