  1. Have you asked if anyone is running off big reports? We ran into this issue recently, turns out it was a spike in ram being used up, changed sql to have a max amount allowed + a timeout syntax in the connect.ini
  2. Lool we were in the exact same boat as you liam. He offered us a deal to which was priced even higher than our current deal. My issue with them was that whilst when it worked it worked well until we had issues which they would just patch rather than fix the underlying issue which escalated to a point where when questioned they didn't have an answer to except a rude customer service rep telling me that i know nothing about IT.
  3. 1100 a till?? Thats flipping extortionate! I will have a look at my order with BioStore and see what i paid, it was noway near that price. They tried to charge us to update to a new version of software - £600 for 20 mins work apparently. Had the customer service rep in our area come down and when we blasted him, he actually said it is free and should be part of our maintenance agreement.
  4. I would buy the dell one, if it don't work or is rubbish refund it
  5. To be honest Liam, we had a terrible time with cunninghams, lots of false promises. Dont see why you can buy an epos system similar to the one they are speccing you with. But you may be on their new system which we didn't have so i could be wrong
  6. Good luck mullet! It took me nearly 2 months for them to come out, by that point i brought one off eBay and changed it over. And told dell to send me the screen, hinge and case to which they obliged after the Business Manager who knows someone in the Dell UK support team threatened to no longer order any dell gear. Thought it wouldn't work but it did.
  7. We had an issue with LGFL where we had to open a few ports up - not too sure why given the fact that we are an Option 2 and have unmanaged filtering except for the security category.
  8. Hi Stephen, Sorry for the late reply. The process is that the permanent UPN number is used as the unique Id for pre admission pupils. The ParentPay system identifies the pre admission account by the permanent UPN number once the pupil is on roll and a school performs their first upload into the new academic year. The system replaces the UPN number with the relevant Admission number and moves the pupil out of the pre admission group and into the pupil group. This ensures that the account retains all of the login details and payment information from the pre-admission account. Just to clarify, it is not possible to upload pre-admission pupils to the ParentPay system unless you have their correct permanent UPN number. Unfortunately this means that reception pupils cannot be added to the ParentPay system until they join the school roll at the start of the new academic year. This was sent to our support email about 2 months ago. I do hope this helps. If not you may have to bear the long queue on the phone to parentpay to get this resolved.
  9. Hmm only other thing i can think of is the admission dates. If its set to a date in future it may not work. I will know more when i am back in office tomorrow. LGFL have blocked some of our access levels at work so cant rav3 or teamviewer in at the moment.
  10. I think they changed the system last year(could be wrong and most likely am)do the students have admission numbers/upns?
  11. I have ours on the biostore server and use a script to map the sims drive for the scheduled sync. To be honestit worked when i did it, but my role has changed since that time a year ago and whoever took charge now i think has turned off autoupdate n syncs manually for reasons unknown to me
  12. Hi Ed, We have just had a case of that here. I ended up taking a month off for personal reasons and all the problems i had brought to light over a year long period actually occured over the month i was away not looking after anything. The Network Manager doesn't like to get involved - keeps to himself and would rather let someone else deal with the problems. Has become manager due to members of the team leaving. Needless to say i was getting calls whilst i was away asking to get things sorted out. As i wasn't the Manager, they felt i was not in a position to be making decisions or telling the school on what needed to be done. We hired a new Director of Operations who quickly saw that i was right and did the same thing. Called in an external Consultant who echoed my views + many more management and strategic failures.
  13. I know i'm late to the convo and sorry for reviving a dead conversation too, but out of interest what is your refresh policy time set to? and do you apply any local GPO's like i have seen in some schools?
  14. Depends what switch you have? We have that setup with HP chassis switch. I think it can also be done on separate switches but they must be stacked in order to achieve this.
  15. We will just say to them it can't be done, unless it is the head of course, else they will all be at it. This has been lost, bla bla
  16. make a test account and see if it is happening on that. If working on test account, check the proxyaddress attribute for the said staff member
  17. We have 90 refurbed SFF 990's and they work wonders. Had them running for 2 years so far! Might i add that 3 rooms of 30 have room temps of 30+ at times and still no issues with any of the machines. We had one motherboard die due to a capacitor blowing and dell fixed it because we couldn't be bothered.
  18. Quick Question for all of those Guys who are using VMs: Are you using Dynamically expanding VHD's for your SQL? or Fixed? When i took over from the old chap here, i made all SQL server's Data & Log stores as Fixed and don't ask me why but it helped speed up everything!!
  19. Speak to companies: Real Sound & Vision and also Autograph, they are great and will advice on what best based on the environment where they are singing
  20. No Problem. Hopefully that works out for you.
  21. Hi Mate, I totally understand. in the script swap the following: $DriverPath = "C:\Temp\Photocopier" $DriverInf = "C:\Temp\Photocopier\x2DSPYX.inf" With $DriverPath = “\\UNC_Path\Photocopier\Drivers” $DriverInf = “\\UNC_Path\Photocopier\Drivers\x2DSPYX.inf” Let me know how you get on.
  22. Hi mate, I can have a look at the script when I'm back from my leave. But call me old fashioned - the headache alleviated by having a print server plus gpo is second to none.
  23. Is newpersn, is there any reason you have a DC on each separate vlan? I dont know about others but i would prefer to have servers on a specific vlan. Do these other vlans have any other uses? Moving from vmware to hyper v is pretty easy. If you can set up a failover cluster i would highly recommend and balance servers across the cluster. In terms of the DC upgrade, crank a new VM on any vlan of your choice as i dont know how the set up is. The approach is to always introduce new DC's and phase out old ones. You will want to introduce a 2012 DC, transfer the FSMO roles over to it, phase out the old 2008r2 DC's, then proceed to update the forest and domain levels. Obviously making sure you are ready for the 2012 level.
  24. Hi Disease, i upgraded to the version Domino is talking about and i had the exact same issues. If i remember correctly i manually made the ADsyncadmins group and added the service account and my account, reran the installer and it worked after.
  25. Any reason your not using GPO? Are you trying to do this on demand?
