Try ticking Calculate on Data Entry within the marksheet Template.

We've stuck with one profile on SIMS. Edulink then creates an employee username and a separate parent username, all linked to the same primary email address. They can easily switch between both on the login page. The only negative is that parental communication goes to their work email address, but it doesn't seem to be an issue here.

Within SIMS, if you choose Add Member instead of Add Student, you should see at least some of the filters you want in the Group Type drop-down. You'll probably have to create the others manually. I don't believe these group filters are available in Edulink, but once the groups are created in SIMS, they're easily added.

Might it be better considering putting all the progress reviews onto one template rather than separate ones? That is what we do. It's much easier for staff to see past data and progress and are able to copy and paste data. If you remove the subject name from the aspect Column Heading in the template or use the Heading Substitution facility, you will easily be able to use the substitute aspects facility to clone across subjects or the replace result sets facility to clone across years.

Difficult to know exactly what you mean, but have you checked the Page Breaks in Outline View? Remember to use the Open/Close Report Section tags in order to pull through their relevant subjects.

I've set it up similar to your 2nd example. I prefer my aspects to have a specific meaning and not dependant on a result set to define them. It also gives you more flexibility to have different grade sets for the various aspects - never mix different types of grade in a grade set. My result sets therefore are generally just a snapshot in time, but there are exceptions. Taking time to set up categories will help a great deal to filter the aspects, e.g. KS4 and Predicted. I haven't properly used the custom tracking grids however so I'm not sure of the best setup for those.

I agree with you. I've looked back and the issue I had was in the Percentage Attendance Report, where it said missing marks have been ignored, but were in fact counted as absent. I've tried it now and it's still doing this. SIMS said at the time that this is the way it was decided it should be, but continuing to say marks have been ignored is confusing. What would be nice is to have the option of one or the other.

Yes, I notified them of this issue a couple of years ago but it still seems to be there.

[sims] Colours on Individual Report (linked from templates)
Jonsi replied to Superius2014's topic in MIS Systems
Do you want the numbers 1-4 to show with a coloured background in a table? If you have the result links on the template and have ticked the 'Print Report with Colour' in the Individual Report Details, then it should work. -
Glad to help! In case you didn't know, you only need to use the Open/Close Report Sections if there are pages in the template that might not be relevant to every pupil and without any data e.g. GCSE optional subjects. Otherwise, just correctly placing the page breaks is enough.
-
I see. I just go to Outline View and adjust the page breaks accordingly. I place the Open Report Section at the top of the page (after the previous page break) and the Close Report Section at the bottom of the page (before the next page break). It seems to work fine for me.

Can you give more details about the page break problem?

If you create a second position column, referring to the first position column in it, then it should show in the correct order. You could then hide the first position column.

Thank you both for your suggestions. I have been using categories - it would be frustrating creating templates without them - so I have put them in an Archive category. Since they're old internal tracking stuff, I think I'll leave them there for a while then delete them from SIMS.

Came across this thread. Is it correct that you cannot make an aspect inactive once a result is attached to it, even if it's not used in any template etc? I'm looking to hide our old aspects and find this very surprising. Thanks

Does anyone know if/when Nova-T4 will disappear completely? Even though Cover in Nova-T4 is not supported, our school still uses it to do cover and I'm worried they'll wake to a nasty surprise quite soon. Thanks!

This seems a bit unfair considering their site is still under construction and there's very little information about them at present. You'd have thought a new start-up would want as much custom as possible. Out of interest, can someone enlighten me on what product they offer?

Hi there, Does anyone know whether it is possible to export students' reporting structure from Profiles to e.g. a memory stick so that teachers can write them offline, then import back into Profiles later? I have a feeling it's not possible unfortunately. I'd like to start using Profiles as I want to do as much as possible within one database, but I need to get around the stumbling block of teachers not being able to write their students' reports from home. I know Learning Gateway is the ideal solution but we just don't have the money to cover the large upfront costs. Many thanks, Jonsi

Thanks for the replies. I've just phoned Tasc Software regarding PARS, and was impressed. It seems to be able to do all the things PPMS does, but can also integrate with SIMS and is a lot cheaper annually! The one crutial problem is that it's not web based. Our teachers have got used to the option of being able to do student reports from home through the internet. They did say however that they plan to bring out web parts for PARS in the new year. What exactly does this mean, and would it involve extra costs? Many thanks.

Hi all, My first post I'm new to my job so I've got a lot to learn with SIMS. We've also got PPMS Pisys in the school which we currently use just to create pupil reports. Ideally, since it's web based and very user friendly, I'd like to develop PPMS for teachers to also do assessments, analysis and attendance on it. Does anyone therefore know whether it is at all possible to import attendance data into SIMS? This facility doesn't seem to be available at first glance. Many thanks.
